SMB/CIFS sharing isn't strictly part of Kodi - it's handled by the OS.

You'd be better off looking on the internet for details of the sharing.
The username and password will be whatever you use to log into your Windows PC, or a user on it which has access to the files/folders you've stored there.

If I come back to you, it is because I did not find a solution to my sharing problem.
I did not find any tutorial on the subject.
But thanks anyway.

Good morning,

I have the same problem on my SHIELD which I cannot resolve, unable to have the option to remove this source, this option only appears on a Films folder on my networked PC but not on my external USB drive.

I have a disk connected via USB to my SHIELD to watch certain recent films and media, and videos my external disk My passport appears well I have access to my Films and Series folders but I do not have this option add this source like on my PC

Even by modifying a source on none of the folders is not deleted, I think it's a bad idea to add sources and for me it's impossible to even delete all my folders to add them again regardless of the Skin.

Thanks for your help

Despite the default skin and language change, the “delete this source” option does not appear. there is deletion but not deletion.

It's still surprising not to be able to add a video source from an external disk unlike the PC.

You been told multiple times now, what you are seeing is NOT a source hence why there is no remove option, it is a automounted drive which will always displayed at the root of the Files view, it cannot be removed. To become a source you either navigate to a folder containing media and select change content, or add a source as normal selecting the folder within the USB drive. In your screenshot for adding a source in the Browse for new share there is an External storage option, is it not listed in there?

Good morning,

I still have the same problem on my SHIELD that I can't solve. I can add new content but not a USB source and I am blocked.

My MyPassport disk appears without needing to click on add a video source, this is obviously not the same method as on PC.

Settings / Media / Media Library / Videos Long press on the source name and there is a menu to manage

It is impossible to have the option to remove this source, this option only appears on a Films folder on my networked PC but not on my external USB drive. Even by modifying a source on none the folder is not deleted impossible to delete all my folders to add them again regardless of the Skin.

Or even capture:

The My Passport external drive does not appear in adding a video source in searching for a new share, the external storage is the SHIELD shared folder.

Kodi on my computer displays my external drive but not the SHIELD box.

I did a disk repair, no problems found. I tested another USB hard drive with no success.

I read on another forum that external drives connected via USB. On Android  the ability to delete a source does not exist.

This works when I'm connected to my PC on a local network which serves as storage I'm no further along at the moment.

New to the conversation here but I am hoping you can provide screenshots showing each step you have taken, from the beginning, if you don’t mind. If possible please provide an explanation of the result you expected that you are not getting.
