ITV4 live playback fails for me.

ITV4 plays fine over here.

If you need assistance please provide some details, like how it fails, messages etc, and a link to a full debug log. Search the wiki for 'debug log' for more info on how to do that.

You should look at adding support for https://github.com/add-ons/service.iptv.manager (and therefore IPTV Merge)

Just wondering if this has been done or is being considered.

Yes, it has been done and is in the development branch right now. Will be in the next release, which is not scheduled yet btw.
I don't know how that will affect your playlists though.

Regarding playlists, if it acts as the Catch UP TV and More and CBC addons do I should be able to add the ITV channels to my playlist.  Matt would be better at giving the technical explanation I barely understand it myself.

Thank you for this add on,It was working perfectly up until a couple of days age,however I'm getting a 'Fetch Error' message on opening the addon,If I persevere I can sometimes get a stream to open,but then it only plays for a couple of minutes and then freezes.

I'm running the latest version of kodi (Omega) on a windows 10 HTPC.
Hope you can help with this issue,as I said It was working perfectly and I've changed nothing recently.

Not working for me either. Successfully logged in with my account credentials, it plays for about 30-seconds to a minute on catchup streams, then freezes and returns to the addon menu. About 10-20 entries similar to the error below end up in the kodi log:

Can you try the beta version from https://dimkroon.net/kodi-addons/plugin....0-beta.zip and see if that solves anything?
If not please enable 'component-specific logging' in settings -> system -> logging , select 'Verbose logging for the libCurl library' in 'specify component-specific logging', and create a new debug log.

Many thanks for the log. However, there are no log entries from viwX in the log. Please check in viwX's settings that 'Log to' is set to 'Kodi Log' and that 'Log Level' is set to 'debug'.

I downloaded and ran the beta release you gave me,I still get an error message on starting the addon (Fetch error/SSL error) but eventually I can stream without any freezing.
I did what you said re the log settings, and uploaded the log file here -https://paste.kodi.tv/lujonuqube.kodi

Thanks for reporting back and the log @PhilCyprus.
The log shows that the problem is at the point of establishing a TLS connection. The connection is terminated even before the actual HTTP request is sent.
That could have various reasons, but the first thing that springs to mind is that you are using some sort of a proxy. If you use that to circumvent geo blocking, I'm afraid we can't help you here on this forum. If not, try to connect without the proxy.

New release: viwX 1.3.0

Fixes:

• Freezing streams on Kodi 21 (Omega).
  
• A lot of timeout errors, especially when trying to sign in or open a stream. Only experienced by new users and users who did a fresh install.
  
• All categories failed to open with KeyError('encodeEpisodeId') due to a change at ITVX.
  
• A workaround for a bug in ITVX causing full news programmes to fail with FetchError('Not Found').
  Opening these programmes on the ITVX website will show a page with "Oops something went wrong".
  This is a temporary workaround to enable you to continue watching these programmes via viwX while ITVX addresses the issue.
  
• Sometimes an episodes listing failed with KeyError('guidance').
  

New Features:

• Support for IPTV Manager/IPTV Merge.
  IPTV Manager and IPTV merge are add-ons that integrate the live channels of video plugins into the PVR addon 'IPTVSimple'. 
  If you use IPTV simple as your PVR add-on you can now, with the aid of IPTV Manager or IPTV Merge, watch ITV's live channels from Kodi's TV menu.
  IPTV Manager integration can be switched off in viwX's settings.
  

I expect 1.3.0 will soon be in the official Kodi repo, but it's also available as zip file from

Please provide a link to a full debug log. Have you tried other streams?

Never mind. On further investigation, it appears that the add-on "Kodi Playback Resumer" is the root cause of my issue. Disabling its monitoring of HTTP streams fixes the issue. Doesn't seem to affect playback on the YouTube add-on when enabled, but either way, it's not this add-on causing the issue, after all.
