Is there a way to prevent kodi to resume playback automatically when tv turned on and last media is in background?
I understand that this is on by default and it might be helpful for some people but it's bit frustrating that we cant disable it..I prefer to click the media myself and resume..

Yes i have the same exact problem
I have a SONY A90j TV
I use kodi with Sandisc SSD full of MKV. Movies
And whenever i open the tv, even if the screen is on home, the kodi autoplays my last movie on background even not showing the movie in screen only the sounds playing!!!! and i am forced to enter kodi and pause it !! (also its plays slow and interrupted when its autoplay fram starting tv)
I am really looking forward to disable that autoplay option

I have all Sony screens, but no raspi to check CEC settings. On my device I cannot find a setting that could be responsible.
If you check Settings->System->Input->Peripherals->CEC Adapter, can you ..?

Sorry for the late reply as after I posted this post I got blocked out of the forum for a week..not sure why...
Anyway I sorted this problem by creating a screensaver addon..basically screensaver is activated after 30 min on my settings which runs the screensaver addon which before going to standby it will activate home window instead of going to standby on a media window which will autoplay the focused media when woken up..
I m using RPi5 so going to cec-stanby
