Hello, I was on kodi 20 (on windows 10), and have just migrated to kodi 21, and I have somes problems ATM I don't know if it's from me or not.
- When I launch kodi all video have stuttering, I need to return to windowed mode and return to full mode for a normal rate (double alt+enter)
- I was using previosuly Alt+8 to do same, It's possible to change the shortcut ?
- On windowed mode, the windows is borderless, no titlebar, so useless, it's normal ?
- I m using a radio keyboard, the volume button was used previoulsy for the kodi volume, and it's now used for the OS volume, no impact on kodi. I can remap the keyboard using windows but I don't undersand what have moved ?
- The sound volume bar appear only 1 time on 3.

If someone have idea ?

The Kodi short cut for windowed vs. full screen can be without the quotes "\" the key just above return. There's a flag in system>display>use full screen window (no title bar or gadgets).

Indicative of some operation going on in the background (scraping or scanning perhaps?) a proper debug log of which the URL posted to a public paste bin and that URL linked back to this thread might offer a clue. Give us an idea of the hardware & connections. Does sound like something is taking focus from Kodi in the background.

Ha yes, was this one, I say "8" but on my keyboard "8" is "\".

Yes I know, Have play with this option, but was "out of full screen", I had the windowed mode in minimised mode but without border/title.
But it's random, I m making tries again ATM, not able to reproduce it.

There is nothing special, I will make a try on an "fresh install" to remove interferences, but it's not based on time, I can wait for 10 mn, run the video, have the stuttering, make 2 time alt+enter, and the video is fine.

1/ 3/ odd but maybe related as Kodi may not use the correct refresh rate. A debug log may help understand better.
2/ \ has always worked to toggle windowed/full screen mode and is equivalent to alt-enter. However the keyboard mapping can be customized.
4/ 5/ Kodi defines its own keys (+=- in default keyboard mapping) for volume control. No recent change there as far as I know. The multimedia vol up/down keys only affect Windows and of course system volume does nothing when passthrough is used.

Yes, I think same, I haven't access to the machine for the moment, but I m making test with drivers/windows/kodi settings.

It's the only issue I can reproduce all the time, This shortcut have stopped working, tried with 2 keyboards, only alt+enter is working.

IDK, have found similar issue here after a migration to win10 https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?pid=2325206
Have installed a special windows drivers to custom keyboard (IntelliType Pro), faster to custom kodi keymap file I think, but not tested yet.

My problem is more all issues are random, sometime the keyboard is working, sometime not, sometime I have the OSD, sometime not, sometime shuterring, sometime not, sometime I have the windows watermark (not activated yet, still on test) on kodi screen, sometime not ....

So for the stuttering I have perhaps something, still on test.
But for the radio keyboard, nothing news.

There in; is the issue, doubt a log will show this (but it will be helpful). How to do you launch Kodi? Suggest ensuring windows is fully operational (Make sure the icon properties have compatibility flagged). What kind of gfx engine... card or shared? Hardware & connections? I'm not sure Kodi is in focus with custom keymap, but the log will show that.

Same here, Kodi doesn't receive that appcommand message from Windows. Same for Kodi 20, 21 or 22.
Might be related to Windows version.

Yes, I haven't this issue on win 7, but I can't keep this OS ....
There is special drivers but only working for microsoft keyboard, so not mine.
If I m right an application is able to catch 'event' ? Was an issue on an old VLC version.
I realy don't have idea for this part, I can disable keyboard event on the OS but if kodi is not able to catch them .....

- Have the windows OSD bar for volume (and not the kodi one ofc)
- Have the stuttering

Have made 2 alt+enter
- kodi in in full screen mode again
- don't have the windows watermark
- don't have the windows OSD bar for volume, key are totaly not working on the remote
- don't have the stuttering

I start thinking it's perhaps the not register windows version ? IDK how it make a watermark, but it need to catch something.
My objective was to test the machine before buying a windows licence, but I think It's mandatory.

If you can suppress the keyboard event, maybe this advanced setting can help

Can't say that unregistered Windows is tested a lot, though here it doesn't help that the computer is old and drivers can be questionable.

The log is not in debug level. Please turn on debug, restart Kodi to capture from the start. Then upload to paste.kodi.tv.

Bad luck, no change, kodi is not able to catch media key on the keyboard.

I have activated windows, still need some time, because the issue is random, but it seem stuttering have disapear, I m in the second situation (without watermark/stuttering and without the windows OSD for volume, but windows catch keys)

Ok, so good news.
- All issues was caused by the not register windows version, after the registration, issue are gone.
- The keyboard have something special, have tested with SharpKeys, another keyboard have worked but on this one media keyboard are handled direclty by the driver, so kodi can't catch keypressed, but can catch WM_APPCOMMAND

The only random issue staying is after a time, the alt+enter (as the "\" not working) toogle the fullscreen but the window become borderless, so can't move it for exemple.

Maybe a log with debug option turned on can help understand.

Post a screenshot of these window you can not move.

Do you mean Kodi window not has title bar?

This Kodi window in windowed mode:

To move you have to drag the title bar, whether it has a border or not is not relevant.

Also even with "borderless" placing mouse in border allows resize it.

If this not work for you then test clean install in portable mode.
