RE: Asus/HP ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC or Ubuntu+XMBC) [v2.19 - 2014/09/06] - P3ws - 2014-09-23

I got past that obsticle now.
In the installation program for ubuntu i cant get the usb stick to mount.
Thus the imagefile cant be read by the installation program.
Label on the stick is UBUNTU
Anyone have an answer to what to type when manually adding the usb?
And yes it does contain the whole isofile of the Ubuntu release.

Yes I can feel the button. It's like 5 seconds after I hit the power button that the login screen appears.

OK, I got it fixed. Took the Asus apart, and you know that little board with the SD port on it? It was wicked crooked (it has that center screw and it was swiveled, so the recovery button probably wasn't making contact or something. Undecided

RE: Asus/HP ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC or Ubuntu+XMBC) [v2.19 - 2014/09/06] - P3ws - 2014-09-23

I used this: unetbootin-windows-608
And this is the file on the USB-sticks root: ubuntu-gnome-14.04.1-desktop-amd64.iso

use UUI (universal USB installer) instead of unetbootin

which utility you use to prepare the USB installer has no bearing on where you actually install Ubuntu.

Use UUI to create the install media, boot it, and install Ubuntu wherever you want.

I registered to tell you that if you do

more 3Tfu5W it'll just show some HTML blurg saying perm redirection. curl and wget doesn't like these too well sometimes

I just downloaded it to my desktop and copied it to my dropbox and used my db url and the appropriate name change.
Example if i used the url db.tt/0Y8hvaeK then i'd run sudo bash 0Y8hvaeK.

then you're likely mis-typing something - be sure to use capital 'o' not zero. Just tested here myself to be sure.

My bad. I read the capital 'o' as a zero. All is working well. Thanks Matt!

Or you can do it manually by downloading a new version (not the disk image version, the tar file). Transfer the tar file to the openelec machine using scp or samba and put it in the /storage/.updates/ folder. Reboot. Done.
Thanks for the info.. What about updating the seabios?

Sorry that I do not know.

Do you have a bios problem? If not, why would you update?
