RE: Arctic: Zephyr 2 - PhunkMaZ - 2019-04-13

Hi, first of all thanks for your hard work on this beautiful skin. I was using arctic.zephyr in the past and horizon until now. Love the new simplified look of it.

I may have one suggestion for the home-screen widget. For my taste the icon and square aspect view is a bit to big. Would it be possible to reduce the size of them and place 7 instead of 5 icons in one screen without producing a big gap below the row? I modified some files but i couldnt eleminate the gab as you can see in the screenshot.

Hey jurialmunkey, first of all great skin! I've been using AZ for a few years now and updated my Kodi to v18 installing AZ2. Now i'm experiencing lags while playing video files from the server. Live TV works just fine and switching back to Estuary removes all lags.
Anyone ever experienced this before? I haven't changed any settings just changed skin. I'm using the latest version via github repo.

Hi
how do i change the number of results a widget returns please?

RE: Arctic: Zephyr 2 - drinfernoo - 2019-04-14

I'm getting ready to switch to this for my main system, but am wondering about the Season Info view for TV Shows... It seems to work really well for some things, and not as well for others, and I'm not sure exactly why.

For some items, it will instantly update the list of episodes when a different season is highlighted, but for others shows, it won't. In order to refresh the list of episodes, I either have to cycle through the different views until I get back to Season Info (trigging a refresh?), or go into the season and back out again (again, triggering a refresh?).

Maybe it would be possible to fix this by triggering a refresh automatically any time a new season is highlighted?

In Video add-ons > Skin Helper Service Widgets settings > Défaut number of items to show in widget

Then, choose your widget with additional widgets > Skin Helper Service Widgets, not with Default Widgets

@jurialmunkey Just gave this a spin and I have to say, "Another exceptional effort" !
Where do you find the time? I'm lucky to grab a couple of hours a week! Smile

RE: Arctic: Zephyr 2 - robjbw - 2019-04-14

Really like your new skin. Looks great! A request. For Music videos, there's only 1 view type. Can you add others: posters, landscape etc... Thanks!

RE: Arctic: Zephyr 2 - Sinisan - 2019-04-14

@jurialmunkey just installed and tried alpha version : beta is *NOT* far 😊👍🏻
(Édit : automatic correction prefers « bit » to « not » 😝)

Do you need french translation ? Please tell me.

This is not an issue specific to this skin - it affects estuary also (and all other skins).

Thanks for the clarification.

I went for a practical solution: I extracted the PNG files from the genre texture file, made copies of the icons that have a different genre name in Dutch and renamed them so that they match the Dutch genre name. Repacked the PNGs in a new texture file together with the original English ones, and now the genre icons are properly shown in Kodi. :-)

Would you be willing to share your work please?

The skin is in "Alpha" - that means things should be expected to break and I am relying on users to report bugs so that I can fix any issues that arise rather than just adding options to change things back to an earlier state.
Sorry about that, didn't mean to show disrespect. I thought you hadn't seen my post Smile
I use Emby for my media collection and as soon as I delete the thumb art it doesn't revert back to anything in Kodi. So it's in Kodi's cache I guess, but as soon as I delete the art manually, it reverts back to the series (general/overall) thumb and therefore doesn't show the fanart.

I think the problem here is that Emby stores landscape.jpg as thumbnail.jpg (this is a guess.) Plex Kodi Connect does the same thing and so in my case it's always falling back to fanart+logo. An option/ability to use thumbnail.jpg for landscape and poster.jpg for for portrait would likely solve this issue. I ran into this issue while making changes to how Kodi displayes metadata in Android TV's channels on the home screen.
@jurialmunkey Do you think it would be possible for "landscape" setting to use thumbnail.jpg if landscape.jpg is not present? Both Plex Kodi Connect and Emby plugins store landscape art as thumbnail.jpg (I believe plex kodi connect is forked from the emby plugin originally)

Another issue I noticed, though this may not be a skin issue: I believe the background/blurred background is only generated when an item is highlighted in a list and not when an item's info screen is activated. The issue I'm facing with this is I use kodi on an Android TV box and selecting a movie for example directly from Android TV's homescreen opens the info page in kodi directly. Since the highlighting of the item in a list is skipped in this case there is no background image displayed on the movie info page. Would it be possible to have the background generated/displayed both when an item is highlighted in a list and when the info page is opened? Or perhaps only generate the background in the info page if no other background was previously loaded?

This can be done for fanart.
You can set which local fanart images Kodi is going to search in advanced settings.

Example:

Code:
<fanart>
<remove>fanart.jpg</remove>
<add>backdrop.jpg</add>
</fanart>

I don't think it's possible to set it for landscape.
Try to set landscape file in advanced settings, it may work.

Try:

Code:
<landscape>
<remove>landscape.jpg</remove>
<add>thumbnail.jpg</add>
</landscape>

No, Emby does store landscape art as landscape.jpg!

No, Emby does store landscape art as landscape.jpg!

Another reason they may not get landscape could be because there is no local landscape.jpg at all.
In Kodi 18 (they are on the latest version if they use AZ2) if there is no local landscape Kodi won't try to scrape it from an online source unless user has set it to be scraped in advanced settings.
If it is not set, then Kodi won't try to get it from an online source while it scrapes.
The same applies for banner, clearart, clearlogo, characterart, set and setfanart.

Code:
<advancedsettings>
<videolibrary>
<movieextraart>
<arttype>landscape</arttype>
</movieextraart>
<tvshowextraart>
<arttype>landscape</arttype>
</tvshowextraart>
</videolibrary>
</advancedsettings>
