RE: New Home for Ember Media Manager (Official Thread) - drift - 2012-11-13

I visit the TV Show tab and I can not do a full scrape for items missing info, nor can I do it for an individual show unless I rescrape completely. Any help?

RE: New Home for Ember Media Manager (Official Thread) - shaktoo - 2012-11-14

trailers are being downloaded in commandline mode ( using HDtrailers.net rather then youtube) but NOT in manual scraping

Hi Everyone,

I was wondering how to go about using and XBMC XML Scraper with Ember?

RE: New Home for Ember Media Manager (Official Thread) - Xonnie316 - 2012-11-15

The good news is that now my life is starting to stabilize a little more, I'm closer to work which means I'll have more time to dedicate to Ember, so be patient and hopefully the next release will be worth the wait Smile

Hi bodrick,

Many thanks for the hard work you have put into keeping Ember alive and going. Wink I know from skinning what it's like with life getting in the way of XBMC stuff!

Regarding development... are you able to add to Ember the missing scapper art naming options for XBMC 12 Frodo. So...

Movies

<movie>-poster.jpg

TV Shows

season-all-poster.jpg
seasonXX-banner.jpg
seasonXX-poster.jpg

<episode>-thumb.jpg

Everthing else already has an option in Ember.

Cheers Wink

For those with scraping issues, delete the Temp folder in your unpack folder (where EMM is). Now it should scrape again.

I've been using EMM for a while now, mainly for generating movie.nfos to be read later on by XBMC, and this is the one major annoyance I have with it, for foreign movies it always retrieves the original title, OR if I "force" it to some language it sometimes retrieves the forced language title. Usually I set it to "USA", however this is definitely NOT the same as the "IMDB display title" - sometimes it's the same, sometimes it matches the main title. However more often it does not, and also often it finds some unwanted working title when set to USA, even if the original title would be fine, because it isn't even a foreign movie.

For example take this movie:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2191861/

No matter whether I untick "Force title language" or if I set it to "USA" it will always find "Ai de mian bao hun" when clearly an international "IMDB display title" of "The Soul of Bread" is there Sad

Is there any way to make it do what i want (which seems pretty straightforward and obvious to me, just take the most prominent title on there....)?

Sorry if this has been asked and answered before. I can't imagine this hasn't been asked before, however I couldn't find anything about it, which seems a bit strange. If there is some information for this already available please just point me in the direction.

For this to work you should try following:
- Disable ODFB-Title in Settings
- Disable Lock Title Setting
- Enable Force Title Language in your case USA

But even if all the above is true there might be cases that that won't help. I will explain why. To get the AKA Title (Known as , IMDB display title) Ember checks the releaseInfo Page for that movie for example:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2191861/releaseinfo

And now the important thing: Ember will search each title line on this page for "USA" (your Force title) and will select the title if the line contains that word (except if line contains words "...working title).
Now in our example it isn't listed as "USA" but "English" - so it will not use that title.

Solution:
Brodick should expand USA-Force language entry to check also for "English" string Smile

For Season Artwork, would like the <season>-fanart.jpg show up as "season1-fanart.jpg" vs "Season 01 -fanart.jpg". Perhaps a new option for seasonX-fanart.jpg to be placed in the show's root, just in case someone is using the above setting for something else.

Newer XBMC skins are using this convention for season fanart.

What is the correct labeling/filename of a:
Season Fanart?
Episode Fanart?

SEASON FANART:

Skins in XBMC seem to make use of season fanart in two different ways:

One is "fanart.jpg" in the season folder. This seems to be working correctly in Ember today.
Two is "seasonX-fanart.jpg", i.e. "season1-fanart.jpg", in the TV Show root folder. Note that it is a single digit number (like seasonX.tbn vs. seasonXX.tbn season thumbs) unless of course the season is a two-digit number.

Episode fanart - not sure at all on this - I don't download Episode thumbs or Episode-level fanart; I let XBMC get them.

On a side side - has any thought be given to having an auxillary scraper to scrape artwork from fanart.tv for items such as logo.png (TV Logo), character.png (Character Artwork), landscape.jpg (16x9 Thumb/Landscape), clearart.png (TV Artwork) for TV Shows?

For movies, also from fanart.tv, logo.png (Movie Logo) and disc.png (Disc Art) are also available.

Second, I asked this a while ago, but I think it's worth bringing up again since ember has been revitalised; on IMDB some movies don't have MPAA ratings, but they do have a regular US rating. Why this is, I have no idea. It would be very useful if the US rating could be used as an MPAA rating but *only* when the MPAA rating does not exist.

I hope that makes sense, and thank you for keeping ember up to date.

This would be a nice option to have.
And finally - DanCooper. Thank you (and also Bodrick) for picking this up and keeping Ember alive. I have TRIED to use many other media managers out there, and Ember is by far the best, even with the maintenance having changed hands several times over the past couple of years. Great work!

What ever happened to this feature request? Anything come from it?

RE: New Home for Ember Media Manager (Official Thread) - gizmotoy - 2012-11-18

Has anyone had Ember completely stop reccognizing new movies? I've been adding new files to my Movie source, in folders exactly the same as the rest of the movies, and anything added within the last 3-4 days Ember refuses to add to the database. It's not that they won't scrape, it's like it doesn't even know they're there. They have an .mkv extension, and were created on my machine the same way as the rest of my movies.

Any idea what's going on? I check the permissions, and they're identical to the rest of the folders. They are sitting on an SMB server on the network, which I have mapped to a drive letter in Windows, but this is how it's always been. I'm stumped.

The about dialog says I'm using 1.3 Revision 7, which I believe is the most recent.

Thanks!

RE: New Home for Ember Media Manager (Official Thread) - gizmotoy - 2012-11-19

So I've gone through and scoured the settings. The only thing I could find that seemed to apply was "Ignore last scan time when adding to library", which I ensured was enabled. It had no effect.

Does anyone know how Ember identifies what files are movies? Does it just look at the extension? Does it examine codecs or something? Maybe there's a clue in there if I knew how it worked.

RE: New Home for Ember Media Manager (Official Thread) - DerDon - 2012-11-20

Are t here any additional scrapers for ember , which work at the Moment?

Thumbgen
Xmm
XBNE

Support different scrapers. Is it possible to Import them?

Is there a scraper for adult Movies?

I am not sure if it rapier or frodo but I am having to rename my banners from folder or poster.jpg to banner.jpg now as they are not showing up, so the request for a banner.jpg from a few threads ago may bot be a bad idea.

Any idea why meta tags do not show up properly in xbmc, I make sure to edit them for every movie but ie I set dts-hd in emm and xbmc shows it as only DTS. It may be the skin I am using as well. But thought I would ask.

Thanks,

Dave

Frodo changed.
default is always poster now so you have to use banner.jpg for banners.

Right now I dont see any benefit of using Ember meta data.
I disabled it and let XBMC scan it, its really fast and recognizes DTS-HD/TrueHD and everything else.

I like the predictability. If something happens and I lose my XBMC library, I still have all the information on my movies and shows. I still have the posters and fanart I prefer. If I let XBMC handle it and I lose the library, I'd have to redo those customizations for my entire library. That would be bad. And what if I want to switch to a different media center software eventually? Things like Plex read XBMC infos, so I could just switch over.

I agree, XBMC does a pretty good job itself, but I almost view doing it manually as insurance.

RE: New Home for Ember Media Manager (Official Thread) - KILLERNADS - 2012-11-21

Please can someone tell me the correct options to tick in terms of naming conventions of posters, fan art, nfos etc..

As far as i can see ive been using stuff like <movie name>.png for poster, <movie name>.nfo , however sometimes this is not always read into xbmc and it still searches and creates its own images.

I was using Eden earlier but now am using Frodo.

Also is there a way to always get episode screens to display? I don't think EMM allows you to download and set episode screens, or does it?

Thanks.
