Once and awhile on slow links the buffer runs out of place and then it plays for a little bit then starts to buffer again. Is there a way that I can edit the buffer size so that it would buffer a little bit longer? Thank you

(Asus Chromebox with this script setup for dual boot OpenELEC and ChomeOS)

RE: Asus/HP ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC or Ubuntu+XMBC) [v2.21 - 2014/10/04] - Matt Devo - 2014-10-09

sounds like a purely XBMC config issue, nothing to do with the ChromeBox or the setup script

Are u sure ur internet is not causing it? Or maybe its the source?

that's absolutely his problem. if your source is coming in slower than the overall bit rate, you're going to have problems. No reasonable amount of buffering can fix that

This may help, http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=HOW-TO:Modify_the_video_cache

But it is not a chromebox issue as such, so if problem persists nitrous should open another thread.

Of course if he is referring to a banned addon, he should go to another forum altogether.

Agreed for sure it was the source. I just noticed that someone else started their own thread on an issue and they were told to post here so I thought I would follow suit.

I'm not expecting changing the buffering to fix the issue but it would allow me to walk away from it and come back to a reasonable amount to watch.

I noticed the page in the Wiki already while researching this but I wasn't sure how to access a CLI to make the change.

No worries I can try and figure it out

Wiki didn't provide login details but I got it to work. Should be able to figure it out from here. Thanks

I have an external hard drive and can access it via my android tablet or other computers through my chromebox without any real issues.

Once you have linux (and I include openelec) installed you can do just the same as any other computer can.

Hmm. Upon further testing of the Rosewill IR Receiver, I'm having one odd problem. It works fine, nice and snappy - except that about once every 5-10 wakeups from suspend mode, the system wakes up fine... but remote input won't work. "IRW" output is blank. If I reboot, or if I unplug/replug the IR receiver, it starts working again.

Any suggestions, or does this sound like one of those USB3 issues?

when this happens, log in via ssh (user/pass: root/openelec), and get the kernel log:

Code:
dmesg | pastebinit

post the resulting URL here

Okay, I started with a fresh boot... suspended once, resumed, no issue. Then suspended a 2nd time, resumed, and remote input completely dead. Unplugged/replugged remote control receiver and remote control restored (although without my delay/repeat customizations - I've also removed the ir-keytable command and it makes no difference to this issue).

Note that the IR receiver has a very dim red light on the front that blinks when it receives a command, and this continues to happen even though XBMC is non-responsive. When the system is in suspend mode, the LED only blinks for the "power" command.

EDIT:
Further info. If, after it's stopped working, I don't unplug/replug the IR receiver and instead use a mouse or keyboard to put the system into suspend, the remote can still bring it out of suspend - and more interesting, the remote will resume working once out of suspend (well, at about the same ratio as normal).

Is this maybe an issue with how lircd is stopped/started?

Looking through the debug logs I don't see any red flags - but I do notice that when a suspend command is sent, I NEVER see it record the _UP version of the command before shutting down to signify that the button has stopped being sent. Once, I saw the _UP version enter the log as the very first thing AFTER the system woke up and restarted LIRC (on this instance, the resume worked).

Note that I have remapped RECORD to the power function, so I can have discrete on/off. This issue happens if I don't do that as well, but it makes the entry of KEY_RECORD_UP even stranger as it's NOT a remnant of me using the actual "power" key to turn the system back on - it's hanging around in some kind of buffer from before the system was shut down.
