RE: Internet Archive - archive.org - barney63 - 2022-05-08

I just tested the search using Shy Guy, Of Heaven and Home, and What to Do on a Date and they all worked.  Using just heaven alone (Of Heaven and Home) brought up nothing.  It is working much better than before.  Thanks

I'm still trying to figure out how the sort works.  In the settings I am sorting by title (alphabetically) and it does sort a group of results A-Z, then a couple of pages in it starts another group and sorts them A-Z.  I am using the 1950s Classic TV category.

Edit:  Just reread the previous post, is this what is happening?
This version will list the multiple qualities sorted quality wise ONLY when multiples qualities are available.

Kodi 19.4 Win 7

RE: Internet Archive - archive.org - barney63 - 2022-05-08

Is there a limit on the number of search results that are displayed.  I searched for coca cola and jfk assassination and both brought up 50 results and Next Page at the bottom.  When you click Next Page there is nothing.  Just wondering what is going on there as there should be more results.

That is nothing to do with the search results or sorting.

The change above adds a feature where in when you play a video file, if there are multiple qualities available, it will show a dialog box for you to select which one you want to play.
The dialog box lists the qualities from highest to lowest and also shows if it is mp4, mkv, ogg, etc
If there is only one quality then it will play without prompting the user as before

Okay, try this version. This one has a fix for the search - next page issue that you mention.
Also this one now has Pagination support in the main menu, so you can view all the collections

RE: Internet Archive - archive.org - AntiPontifex - 2022-05-08

Thank you for fixing this: I hope, in time, you submit this to the official repo as well as creating a github
so it can be corrected as needs be. Again, thank you.

Dam! Thanks bro. Cheers, will test out. Thx
You & @MetalChris are really talented guys. Keep up the great work guys! Cheers! Wink

[Edit]:
@gujal Unfortunatly is does not let me choose the extention.
The video had an .avi file (original best quality) and the .mp4 file (internet archive's compressed poor quality).
the video loaded straight to the mp4 file (compressed quality). No choice.
here is the log incase it helps:

@gujal

Looks like the search - next page issue has been solved, thanks.

As for the second part, the main menu pagination support, can we view them in alphabetical order over the rest of the pages?

By that I mean, as it is now, Page One lists items A-Z, Page Two A-Z, Page Three A-Z.  By listing them that way you have no clue of how many pages more there are.

Can they be listed by Page One (A-D), Page Two picks up where Page One left off (E-F), Page Three (G-J) that way if you are at Page Three and you are only at G you have an idea of how many pages are left to go.

My (A-D), (E-F) (G-J) suggestions aren't meant to be taken literally, Page One and Page Two might consist of only A, and B might start at Page Three.  That tells me if I am only at B on Page Three there are a lot more pages to go.

I don't know if that makes any sense but the reason I am being so particular about this is that the Internet Archive is a huge repository.  The search works now, but how do I find something if I don't know the title.  The browsing should help narrow it down.

My example of that would be the CBC addon which didn't have a search.  It does now (thanks micahg).  I tried looking for an Anne Murray video.  It wasn't under Music, it wasn't under Biography, it wasn't under Arts and Entertainment, I think I finally found it under Shows/Documentary which was none too specific so that's why the search was so important (but you still need to know the name of the video) for that to work.

This is an issue with Internet Archive website. It takes really long if you request collections sorted by title on the website. So in the addon it times out if we do that. Same thing about pages, there is no indication of the total pages on the website, so the addon cant do anything about it.
If there was a api provided by Internet Archive then it will be a lot easier, but with web scraping this is what it is unfortunately

RE: Internet Archive - archive.org - barney63 - 2022-05-09

@gujal
Ok, thanks for the explanation, if you don't ask you won't know Smile  Just getting the search going was a big leap forward.  Thanks for checking.

This is because of IA being inconsistent. They normally present multiple qualities on the web page on 'js-play8-playlist' section. Now for the page you linked above the playlist section only lists the mp4 file as below

Code:
<input class="js-play8-playlist" type="hidden" value='[{"title":"MTV Europe #001","orig":"MTV_Europe_#001.avi","image":"/download/mtv-europe-vhs-001/mtv-europe-vhs-001.thumbs%2FMTV_Europe_%23001_000115.jpg","duration":11904,
"sources":[{"file":"/download/mtv-europe-vhs-001/MTV_Europe_%23001.mp4","type":"mp4","height":"450","width":"600","label":"450p"}],
"tracks":[{"kind":"thumbnails","file":"/stream/mtv-europe-vhs-001/mtv-europe-vhs-001.thumbs/MTV_Europe_%23001_000115.jpg?vtt=vtt.vtt"}]}]'/>
Fixing this would be tough, the balance is to find a common method to pull qualities for most files

I do not know if @MetalChris maintains a git for code contribution. He maintains the release repo, so it is up to him what he wants to do with this

@gujal how exactly would this be fixed? Just curious, like what would be the game plan to get around this?
would it be easier to just display the whole downloads open directory url (with all folders & files) and be able to choose the files manually?
or have an option in the settings to choose what format it will scrap?

Please test with this version and report back if you are able to select the file on MTV Europe VHS
