RE: Arctic: Zephyr 2 - bryan1 - 2019-02-14 Looks fantastic. Media codec icons available in the info screens off the widget? Leia mod version doesn't so hoping for the best RE: Arctic: Zephyr 2 - jurialmunkey - 2019-02-14 (2019-02-14, 04:26)bryan1 Wrote: Looks fantastic. All the screenshots of the info dialog have actually been from the home screen widget. I just want to ask one question. Will you still have an option for browsing movies as a sideways scrolling list with the currently selected movie being on the right with a larger poster (which is my favorite) or will it only be poster wall? Looks great. If we can keep the logos and the file specs (blu Ray, etc, sound codec, run time and all the other relevant things like in az) at the bottom it would be great. As the list can get quite long and it can nicely compose on the screen. You're doing a solid job BTW. RE: Arctic: Zephyr 2 - bryan1 - 2019-02-14 Rounded posters available? I don't understand this obsession with codecs. I understand things like Atmos, HDR and 3d because those have external hardware requirements, but aside from those, what purpose does having all the codec info on screen serve in terms of choosing a movie to watch? Codec info is unnecessary clutter which goes against the minimalism I'm trying to emphasise here. I'm willing to have things on screen if there is a functional need, but I'm not adding info just because it exists. And yes keep it clean and simple. Thank you again for developing such a great skin. Still tweaking it a bit, but this is what it looks like currently: Actually it does matter. So my movies are set on automated downloads and sometimes things go wrong and for example I will aquire a movie with a dolby digital soundtrack. Which means I will not be watching it until a better version is avaliable therefore I will wait until its released. That's the same for rips. With some movies I will wait until they redownload in blubray rip for example instead of webdl. I user sonarr and radarr for downloads and despite them being quite good with getting the right version sometimes mistakes do happen. That's why I'm always looking at the soundtrack and quality. I don't care about codex but those two l things actually matter to me. RE: Arctic: Zephyr 2 - meridius - 2019-02-15 I have to agree, I would like to see logos of Bluray,DVD, x264, x265, WEB-DL, HDTV and 4k Ultra as these tell you what sort of quality and compressed version of the video is in. eg, Bluray to me means untouched video from the source and x264 1080p means its a bluray recompressed smaller size to a lesser quality bitrate. not all hd 1080p video is created equal. something like this as a suggestion, added some extra info under the movie title that adds the codec and res and bottom right for source type and audio info. Rounded edges adds such an elegance to them RE: Arctic: Zephyr 2 - Kokonutcreme - 2019-02-15 (2019-02-15, 02:07)meridius Wrote: I have to agree, I would like to see logos of Bluray,DVD, x264, x265, WEB-DL, HDTV and 4k Ultra as these tell you what sort of quality and compressed version of the video is in.Everyone will have their own Kodi story, and what details matter to them and why. I used to obsess about codec info displayed in library views but changed my position following the realisation that my family don't care. If a movie or tv show is in the library they want to watch they just search for it and press play. No different a user experience to playing files from streaming sites like Netflix and Amazon who also don't display codec flags. I understand that codec flags identify video, audio source and compression types, this information can also be gleaned from the folder names of downloaded files, from media scraping tools like Mediaelch, Tiny Media Manager etc or from the source download websites themselves. Recently released skins have moved away from prominently displaying codec flags and regardless of our opinions/desires, ultimately the design decisions about viewtypes, use of extra artwork and codecs rests with the skins creator and their vision. Sometimes they are useful for weeding out old poor quality rips and replacing them with new ones, or for troubleshooting why decoding settings aren't working as intended - but that's why I always include full codec details in the info dialog. That being said, I do like some aspects of meridius's suggestions. I'm mostly just opposed to jamming every bit of info possible onto the screen - I'm certainly not opposed to having a few specifically chosen details that are actually useful and are shown in a tasteful way. RE: Arctic: Zephyr 2 - Ulvinn - 2019-02-15 I am probably in the minority on how I use codec information. We have a 3D projector in the house, and the kids love it. Being able to see whether or not a movie is 3D, 4K or "crappy" tv quality will be helpful to both wife and kids when they try figuring out whether or not to fire up the projector or just watch things on the TV RE: Arctic: Zephyr 2 - Teukka79 - 2019-02-16 OMG!!
