SHen350 Wrote:I am trying to get it to just scrape extrathumbs. I wouldn't mind it scraping and downloading trailers too, but one thing at a time. I can't really get it to do any auto scraping. I check all movies and then go to scrape movies --> costum scraper: choose all movies - automatic - extrathumbs only or trailers only - then begin.
Normally it sorta zooms down the list and finishes in about 2 minutes for 700 movies. Alot of them already have extrathumbs, but there are about 200 that don't. They still don't after the scan. Also, it hangs alot (mainly on Drillbit Taylor, but hey I'm not judging the movie), though not always on just that one.
When I scrape singly, it works great and I love it downloading my extrathumbs and trailers, just takes alot of time.

Did you setup extrathumbs settings? Started with "Automatically Extract Extrathumbs durring Scrapers" in settings?

As for trailers, have you enabled trailer downloading(and choose youtube for trailer source if you outside of US) in settings?

Why has this been moved here?

I avoid Off Topic on most forums because they're normally full of crap (which, I know, is the point) but surely if this had to be moved it's more suited to 'XBMC Tips, Tricks, and HOW-TO (Step-by-Step Guides)'?

Have to agree with ya as the Off Topic subtitle even says "Things not directly related to XBMC and way out there stuff". I mean think about this, you have people giving up their free time to make XBMC better by incorporating media managers and they get treated like, well you know what.....

The only subforum lower then this would be the garbage forum....heh

Edit Update: I see media managers have been moved to Supplemental XBMC Tools .....Thanks for making a new sub forum...

there's been some discussion on whether the stand-alone media managers are related to xbmc or not: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=53223

guess the answer is no, so it's moved to off-topic.

Any chance you guys could add http://www.hd-trailers.net to the trailer list? Big Grin Would be awsome.

How fast is this program scraping/processing movies for everybody?

I've just processed about 50 and it took about an hour and a half to two hours and FFmpeg crashed a whole bunch of times on me.

I'm using Ember Media Manager across a network in case that matters (eg. my movies are stored on my HTPC but EMM is running on my Vista SP2 machine).

Also, a bunch of movies weren't dedicated properly (including "Gladiator"). :\

On my 100mb network, on average, Ember did around 3 movies/min for me. Keep in mind that TMDB plays a major role in the speed of late as their network/servers have been slow to respond on queries. Ember relies almost entirely on TMDB for any fanart.

Well firstly I dont agree with the move but thats just my 10 cents....
but back on track has anybody had this issue when trying to scrape a single movie just for meta data hangs like this
Image
It sits there for as long as you like to leave it and have to exit to get back.
this is running the latest release V778
thanks in advance

- onebyside - 2009-07-22

r778

not one my dvd's has the "dvd" tag icon filled

and many of the movies are missing meta data for audio
some of the one's that do have the audio filled in are reporting
"unknown" when I check the export list

are you scraping all cast or just thumbnail pic's cast

takes time

- SofaKng - 2009-07-22

Yeah, I'm not complaining (especially since this is just in alpha).

I'm using gigabit ethernet by the way, and I'm not scraping the full cast. *shrug*

I'll fool around with it a little bit more...

- onebyside - 2009-07-22

the app is great, no complaints here either

themugger Wrote:nul7 , could you let us know the commands for the command line again please? also i see there are some changes in the latest ver. i seem to be having problems running "d:\downloads\emm\Ember Media Manager.exe" -newauto -all. the program just seems to freeze and never update anything?

Thanks

-newauto -all should work. There are 2 methods to use the command line... on a single file, and on the entire library:

Single file:
"Ember Media Manager.exe" <type> <path> [--verbose]

<type> = "-file" or "-folder" (use -file if all your movies are in one big folder or -folder if each of your movies has it's own subfolder)

Adding --verbose is optional. This will signal Ember to ask you for details if it doesn't find the exact movie.

Example:
"Ember Media Manager.exe" -folder "z:\movies\The Dark Knight" --verbose

Entire Library:
"Ember Media Manager.exe" <type> <modifier>

<type> = "-fullask", "-fullauto", "-missask", "-missauto", "-newask", "-newauto", "-markask", or "-markauto"

<modifier> = "-all", "-nfo", "-posters", "-fanart", "-extra"

Example:
"Ember Media Manager.exe" -fullauto -all

NOTE: This method requires Ember to update your library before processing the scraper, so it may take a while to finish, depending on how many new files you have. It's basically the same as hitting "Update Library" then running the scraper.... so do that manually in the interface and time how long it usually takes.... that's about how long it will take for the command line to finish.

MrDVD Wrote:Hallo, is it correct that the Filter Missing Items is atm connected to "Hide .." in the settings ?

If so than this is not ideal for me, for me an movie is complete if there is a Poster, Fanart and the nfo but i would also like to see if there are more parts like Subs or Trailers, but when i didnt hide this parts the movie will never be complete for EMM and the filter is pointless.
So maybe its better to make it selectable what "Missing Item" mean for an user ?

I see your point... I'll add some options after the next bug fix release. Please add a request on embermm.com or else I'll probably forget. lol

roland6543 Wrote:Now why didnt I think of that? lol Laugh Thank you.

I always find it a bit of a pain upgrading. If I just extract and copy the new executables and extras over my existing install, I always have a problem with it finding the movie folders..... I get the message "Unable to load .... Please check settings"

Anyway, so I installed to a new folder and all is good (except for losing my library settings as described above). If anyone can suggest how to upgrade hassle-free, your comments would be most welcome.

Most of the time, upgrading is just as simple as copying/paste and overwrite, but sometimes there are changes that require a fresh database. In those cases, the next release will automatically delete the database.... but if you skip that one, and use the one after, you'll need to manually delete the db.

Ram2000 Wrote:Hi again this may have been covered somewhere in this monster thread but I cant find it.
Is there anyway of limiting the amount of actors downloaded to say only the first 5 ?
lets be honest nobody need to know the name of teh gaurd on the left in scene 6
thanks yet again for any help.

As olympia mentioned, there is not a way to do this, but would be easy to implement. If you add a feature request to the website, I'll work on it after the next bug fix release.

patkhoo Wrote:Hi Guys, I've two issues to report with EMM..

1) Runtime duration using MI.dll and stacked files
If I choose runtime display as "X hrs Y min" instead of "X min", and I have a stacked movie (movie.cd1.avi, movie.cd2.avi) it seems to calculate the correct time duration, but then saves it as "X min" instead of "X hrs Y min"...

2) I'm guessing EMM cannot be run directly from a UNC path? "\\Media\Media\EMM\Ember ...exe" When I try to do so, I see the splash screen, and then it dies with a windows error and there is nothing in the logs.. "Ember Media Manager has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

Both issues are with r778..

PS. I would put these two into the issue tracker, but the issue tracker requires me to setup yet another login account, and I'd really rather not..

You can't be bothered to take 10 seconds to create an account, but want us to take the time to troubleshoot a problem for you? Makes sense. :/ Anyway, as I mentioned ealier, scanning meta data for stacked movies is broken in r778.

RockDawg Wrote:I do NOT have a VIDEO_TS.vob in any of my dirs. Maybe that is the problem. Otherwise, I've been using the very same settings you show in your screen shot.

EDIT: I should add that all my movies were ripped DVDShrink in re-author mode to keep only the main movie. I suppose that is why I have no VIDEO_TS.vob.

Ah, yes, that is the problem with it... the combination of having no VIDEO_TS.vob and that the folder is not named "VIDEO_TS". I didn't realize that part. lol So yes, you will need to keep .ifo in your supported extensions list so it grabs the VIDEO_TS.ifo file. That should solve all the problems.

EDIT: And to clarify my "whacky folder structure" comment... you are not the one I was thinking of. Don't remember who it was that had like 3 or 4 sub folders in each movie folder, each with a different movie rip, and each named "DVD 1", "DVD 2", etc (or something like that). That was the entire reason to re-write how sources are scanned. lol

DVD is a source flag.... so you would have to have "DVD" either in the file name or in the folder name.

For the missing meta data... what language are they in? Are they stacked movies? What is the file type?

SHen350 Wrote:I am having a problem automating the scraper. I am not sure what I am doing wrong.

I am trying to just let EMM get the thumbs for my movies. I use the costum scraper, and click just thumbs. It looks like it is doing something for about 10 seconds, then sits like normal. It doesn't get the thumbs. I can single go in and re-scrap and get them, or just get them manually.

Maybe I just don't know how to set up the auto scraper. I haven't tried to auto scrape anything before. Any help with what I am doing wrong would be very appreciated.

Is there a wiki for this? I read the read me file supplied with the download, but it wasn't a users guide, unless I missed something.

I was also wondering if maybe the downloading instructions contained in the readme file might be added to the first page of this. Seems like alot of us noobs (me) didn't look at the read me file when I first downloaded EMM. I mean who knew you should read the readme file?

If you do "Scrape Media" -> Missing -> Auto -> Posters Only what does it do?

What file types are the movies that don't create extrathumbs? It won't scan them for disc images (such as ISO, IMG, BIN, etc). Do you have auto generate extrathumbs enabled in settings?

Montellese Wrote:Sorry for taking that long to report back on the issue. I still have the same problem. I just tried to take a screenshot but as the whole GUI freezes after I close the message box telling me that there is no fanart available, I was too slow.
The error occurs every time. I didn't manage to fully scrape this movie yet, there is no automatically generated NFO in the folder either.

What I think is very unusual is that the Task Manager doesn't list EMM as not responding as it usually does when a GUI freezes. Maybe it doesn't stop looking for trailers (which is the next step right after fanarts).

EDIT: Ok I just managed to get to see half of the GUI again and the progress bar at the bottom of the GUI is still running and it says "Scraping Meta Data" (or something like that. I can see only parts of the GUI).

EDIT2: After disabling the Trailer scraping I tried to scrape it again. It shortly freezed after closing the mentioned messagebox but then came back with the dialog providing me with the scraped information. It must have something to do with my trailer settings. This is a screenshot taking from my settings dialog (ignore the german strings Wink ):
Image
I know this kind of setting concerning trailers doesn't make any sense but I wanted to disable it temporarily while scraping rare movies not having any trailers for sure to save some time.

It follows this order:

Scrape IMDB
Scan Meta Data
Begin downloading fanart in the background
Display Poster Selection
Display Fanart Selection
Download Trailers
Extract Extrathumbs
Display Results

How many extrathumbs do you have it set to extract? This is what it's doing when it "shortly freezed" after closing the fanart dialog.

For the Trailer problem... if you open the movie editor and try to download trailers from there, does it work?

OK, no problem. Thanks for your help. The only other thing now is that I don't get any media info even if I manually refresh it.
