RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+XBMC) [v3.1 - 2014/10/30] - Matt Devo - 2014-11-08 it's the same bluetooth module as on the Celeron 2955u model: Bus 001 Device 002: ID 13d3:3393 IMC Networks it works fine for me under OpenELEC, and I just loaded up Ubuntu 14.10 (3.16.0-23 kernel) on a live USB and the Bluetooth module loaded without issue, so it's either a kernel or (more likely) a driver issue with whatever version of Ubuntu you are running. I really haven't tested/messed with the dual boot Ubuntu option lately, but the easiest thing is likely to reinstall Ubuntu 14.10 on top of your existing install. Or just boot a live 14.10 USB and see if it works there RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+XBMC) [v3.1 - 2014/10/30] - denrock - 2014-11-08 (2014-11-08, 04:01)Matt Devo Wrote: it's the same bluetooth module as on the Celeron 2955u model: Bus 001 Device 002: ID 13d3:3393 IMC Networks I'm using the 14.10 that the script pulled down and installed. Can I just install a fresh ubuntu 14.10 from a usb stick over the ubuntu installed by the script or do I need to wipe everything and do the whole device prep thing again and not run the script a second time? Either way, you can do a fresh install from the USB stick, just format/install into the partition sda7 only. RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+XBMC) [v3.1 - 2014/10/30] - fritsch - 2014-11-08 Hi, we need all the help we can get. Everybody please remove the "Use SW Filter" workaround and provide the bzip2 error in combination with dmesg to: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=83677#c90 It seems intel refuses to help us at all. On the other hand, I've tested my Chromebox with a newer LED TV I have in my room, and the problem didn't happen on that TV. The 'official' TV I'm using for Chromebox is an 2008 LCD TV from Samsung, so in my opinion it may be presenting the issues due to old HDMI handshake incompatibility... Cheers Murilo RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+XBMC) [v3.1 - 2014/10/30] - Netix - 2014-11-08 I don't know if it's related but since I've updated the firmware when I resume from suspend the Chromebox it stays frozen and I have to perform a hard reboot.. Any idea? I have the workaround script going that force the chromebox to reset the audio/video but after that it just froze. I have also tried FLIRC to do that, without success. So now I have a standalone setup with Openelec, and I'm trying to install Chromium OS to a dual setup using GRUB, or something like that. The problem is that building ChromiumOS seems to be a real pain, and I couldn't go much further. I also tried the "Cx86OS-20141102010101" version from this site http://chromium.arnoldthebat.co.uk/ but all I get is a blank screen when booting from USB. So, does anyone have a working build for Chromium to be used with the asus Chromebox? Any tutorial on how to dual boot Chromium + Openelec on the standalone coreboot firmware setup? Installing ChromiumOS and OpenELEC in a dual-boot setup isn't going to be straightforward. You'll need to install ChromiumOS to the internal HDD first, then use a modified version of my script to partition/install OpenELEC, then modify the syslinux bootloader to allow for a boot menu to select between the two OSes. I don't think anyone has done it yet, as It's something that requires a pretty good understanding of the two OSes, Linux, and bootloaders. Plus, I'm not sure how ready ChromiumOS is to use on a regular basis, from a user (vs developer) standpoint. Can I just install a fresh ubuntu 14.10 from a usb stick over the ubuntu installed by the script or do I need to wipe everything and do the whole device prep thing again and not run the script a second time? I gave up on the dual boot since I'm giving up on chrome os for now (I've tried to like it but it's too limited right now) and did the coreboot firmware standalone ubuntu with a fresh copy of 14.10 from the ubuntu website. The bluetooth works fine now so it must have been something with the chrubuntu ubuntu version that the script pulled down. I'm not sure what the tweaks/additions were for 14.04 that you mentioned but I guess that may have had something to do with it like you said since it pulled down 14.10. Thanks again for your work on this script and your time answering everybody's questions. Looks like that comes with the same receiver as the Rosewill that I tested (should be listed in the Wiki). My experiences are in this thread. My HDMI will drop out occasionally. Changing out HDMI Cables, and adjusting frame rates etc dont help. It seems like people have determined that its an HP Chromebox Hardware problem. Is that true? Is it verified that replacing the device fixes the problem? Mine is bad enough that it is basically unwatchable. Thanks, David |
