RE: Amber for Leia/Matrix - TheRealDeadMan - 2020-07-23

Hi @bsoriano,

Having used the default skin for a few minutes, I noticed that the 7 day Weather forecast boxes show on the home window while scrolling by.

Any chance you are able to do this in Amber, instead of having to click "Weather" and then going to another screen? Otherwise it's just a blank section when scrolling by.
And then, if we do select "Weather" it will go into its screen; then we are also able to select the daily weather, view maps and charts.

Thanks,
DM

@TheRealDeadMan, yes, you can configure "Daily Weather" as a shelf (widget) for any main menu item, and as of Amber version 3.2.99/3.3.99, you can configure automatic scrolling for the shelf(widget). Please let me know if you need some assistance in doing this and I can post detailed steps on how to do that. Thanks.

Bart

You need to setup the Weather widget in Amber for that.

OK thanks, I'll have a go at it and search around the forum to see what I am missing. I have always had the standard weather stuff set up - and now with API keys to see the maps, which was cool.

@TheRealDeadMan , perhaps you are not too familiar with the way widgets (called shelves in Amber) are configured.  Here are the steps to configure Daily Weather Forecast as a widget for the Weather main menu item:

1. Go to Settings, Skin Settings, Home Layout, and select Customize Home Menu and Shelves:

Image

2. On the left hand side of the resulting dialog, go down until you get to the Weather main menu item:

Image

3. Once there, on the right hand side, go down until you get to Shelf 1, and select that (that will configure widget 1 for this menu item; Amber supports up to 6 widgets per menu item):

Image

4. The widget we want is offered as part of Amber's Default Shelves, so select that:

Image

5.  Go down until you find Weather, and select that:

Image

6. Select Daily Weather Forecast:

Image

7. Leave the title as is, or change it to whatever you want, select "Done" when you are finished:

Image

8. Now you should be back to the Shelf 1 configuration.  Go down to "Atuomatic Scroll Time" and select that:

Image

9.  Select the autoscroll interval that you want from the resulting dialog:

Image

10. You should be back to the Shelf 1 configuration, and it should look something like this:

Image

11. Now you can go back all the way to the main menu (pressing Back multiple times, or Esc multiple times), and if you go to the Weather menu item, you should see something like this:

Image

And it should srcroll automatically, every 7 seconds.  You can also choose to have this widget be two rows high, or three rows high.

I think this is what you were looking for.  Please let me know if it indeed is, or if you have any other issue.  Thanks.

Regards,

Bart

Hi Bart, yes I got that figured out now, thanks Smile Am very happy with the two shelves setup now. ( I STILL need to get used to the lingo Wink )

The second thing is when entering Weather itself (when in the default Kodi skin) We are able to scroll down, and the area weather maps will show 1 fullscreen map at a time - Precipitation, cloud and heat maps - 6 screens in total.
Thats with the Multi Weather app installed; we set up API keys through openweathermap.org, then "MULTI WEATHER" downloads area maps.
If you would like me to post some screen caps, I can do that.

Here are some screens anyway (3 of 6). When scrolling down:

RE: Amber for Leia/Matrix - Khezu - 2020-07-23

3.2.99 broke video playback for me on my shield tv. Wont play anything anymore.

Seems like I cant edit posts here so the log says:
Cvideoplayer - error opening (filepath)

Thats it. When i change to a different skin it works again.

@TheRealDeadMan , thanks for the info.  I need to code that additional info in the Amber weather screen; that is code that I have not looked at yet (I am not the original developer).  I will add to my To-Do's.  It might take a while, since Multi Weather is Matrix only, and my main development/test system is Leia at the moment.

@Khezu , with the new version, I did not touch any part of the code that is used in video playback.  Just so that I can better evaluate the issue, please let me know the following:

- What Kodi version are you using?
- What Amber version did you have before?
- Did you install the Amber repo recently and updated from there?
- Did you have before the version of Amber that is in the Kodi repo (version 3.2.23)?
- Are you trying to play the video from the video info dialog or from browsing the library or from a widget?

The reason for the questions is that Amber, for quite a while now, optionally uses functionality from plugin.video.themoviedb.helper (some could affect playback), but if you do have that addon installed, you need a very recent version, in fact, much more recent than what is in the Kodi repo for that addon.  If you use the Kodi repo version, then you could have playback issues from the info dialog in Amber.

If that is your case, please download and install jurialmunkey's repo (https://github.com/jurialmunkey/repository.jurialmunkey/blob/master/repository.jurialmunkey-1.4-leia.zip), and update tmdb helper from there.

If that is not your case, meaning you do not have tmdb helper installed, then I will need you to please post a debug log, to see if I can figure out what the issue is.  I do not have any playback problems in Windows or LibreELEC, and no other user has reported this issue with this version.  Thanks.

Bart

Hey Bart,

Thank you for the quick answer.

Using the jurial repo fixed it for me! (although I must say it is now much slower to play/resume a movie but this is a minor detail).

thanks again Smile

RE: Amber for Leia/Matrix - TheRealDeadMan - 2020-07-25

Hi Bart, just something that I noticed today in the Matrix build.
The sample image shows a full length plot/description under Tall List (Picture #1), but they are only partial in actual once selected, (Pictures 2 & 3).

Not a big deal, just a cosmetic thing.

RE: Amber for Leia/Matrix - shedrock - 2020-08-12

@bsoriano - Hi Bart,

Hope all is well with you. I just wanted to point out something to you. I have a TV Show called The Terror. Today my HDTV-720 was replaced by BluRay 720p but the icons list them as HDTV 720p still. Do you think you can fix this issue. I never really noticed it until today. Also, you know when there are no Next Aired episodes airing today? Well this results in showing the blanks image at the bottom as you can see in the second image I've attached. Do you think you can replace that with an image that says something like "There are no episodes airing today", or for that matter, maybe just leave it blank? I know Aeon Nox SiLVO does it, but he has a problem when nothing is airing on a particular day, and that is you can't jump to the top widgets. Anyway, if you can't do either it is ok.

@shedrock , my apologies for the late reply.  In the first case you mention, I don't think that the skin automatically will pick up that the video file has changed quality/resolution.  Did you refresh the item? I think that is when the flag would change.  I am not sure, maybe not even then, unless you use the local nfo scraper and you have updated the episode's nfo to reflect the quality change.  If that is not your case, I think you have to play the item, so that Kodi can analyze the media and detect that there is a different quality/resolution/codec.

As for the second case, I was not planning on changing that image, since it is the image shown when any widget does not have items, not just the next aired.  I am open to suggestions on another image that I could use for that purpose, though.

Regards,

Bart
