 Ubuntu should be easy.

Hi Primarval,
first of all I want to thank you for this great Add-On!
Unfortunately something seems to be wrong with Rytec's EPG. It was working just fine until today, but now it doesn't receive any data anymore. If I go into XMLTV Meld and navigate to Rytec, it's just empty.
It would be great if this gets fixed.

Keep up the great work!

Best Regards
Siegmar

Quote: Have you done a Reset since I added yo.tv?
I waited until Yo was implemented before installing Meld, so I never had an old config file to worry about.
Quote:If you mean the Kodi EPG display, you probably need to reset the PVR channel data in "Kodi \ Settings \ PVR".
Yes, when I said EPG display I meant the grid (or "Guide") on the main menu.  I just realised those channel lineups which are shown at the top can be removed through the PVR group manager.  When I removed those lineups under the provider source in Meld, I was expecting that change to be reflected in PVR group manager automatically (just like they are when you add lineups from Meld.)  This will definitely confuse the new user:

If there is more than one place where channels & lineups for the guide can be deleted, deselected or disabled, I think a change in one place should be reflected in the other.  For more reliable and intuitive synchronization, it might be better to implement Meld's features as a PVR client.  Im sure more people will want to use and support this when it gets to the point where they can see a proper demonstration and understand what its going to be capable of.  This is powerful stuff; it represents a new level of functionality which is not available anywhere else.

I still had just one channel lineup left (a lineup from Zap which was enabled in Meld.)  But the guide was still showing duplicate channels which should have been removed when I deselected the other channel lineups from Zap.  I finally gave up trying to remove the duplicate channels in the Guide, and just did a reset from the Meld menu, so I could report any issues.  After a reboot, the Meld channels menu is still populated by channels!  And they each have a "-1" where the channel number was.  So the reset function clearly did not work 100 percent.  The reset seems to have worked on the guide by clearing out all channels from Zap, but strangely it did not work on the Meld channels menu, and did not remove the channel group from Zap in the Guide (which should no longer be there after a reset and reboot.)

 Thanks.
It looks like the original source has vanished.
Google comes up with this as the best alternative right now.

This is going to be a cat and mouse game.

RE: xmltv Meld - creates a single xmltv file from rytec, zap etc - primaeval - 2019-01-08

version 0.0.49
- rytec source changed to http://rytec.ricx.nl/epg_data/

You might need to re-add rytec countries and channels.
Thanks @siegmarwilli

If you really need something more stable I would recommend Webgrab or a paid service like SchedulesDirect or koditvepg.com
As the sources change so often I don't think I am going to be able to keep this addon in peak condition.
Just use it as a quick hack to get a few main channels into your epg.

Wow, that was fast. Thank you very much for the fix! Smile

I think it might be too soon to tell if they are changing servers to reduce the traffic load, or some other reason.  It does not seem like too many Kodi users are building custom EPG's yet.

Update: the admin has previously said in this forum that he will only block apps which hammer the server.  So developers should be careful not to download data which has already been retrieved.

A lot of my issues seemed more like bugs than problems with unreliable sources.  There are also many EPG sources which have remained stable for a long time (though I'll grant they are north american sources).  Titan even has cloud based custom channel lineups, so you (the developer) dont need to implement channel add/delete functionality in Kodi.  You could probably adapt the FilmOn PVR client for Titan with relative ease and not have to do any more to support north american or english speaking caribbean users.

The problem with paid service is, there is no single source which contains all of the EPG data I need.  So I guess its Webgrab.

Not sure if it's since the changes with Rytec or if it's something I'm doing wrong.

I can see all the countries now and also the providers and channels and add the channels no problem.

The channels get added to my list of channels but when I click on update they don't get added to the xmltv file or tv channels file.

I am adding them the same way the yo.tv channels and they get added to the xmltv and tv channels files ok but not the Rytec channels.

I have tried on Ubuntu 18.04 and also windows 10 64bit with same results

The new rytec urls must have messed up the channel list.
I'm going to have to have a long think about how to restructure the addon to deal with changing urls or providers.
If you can't find a way round it you'll probably have to do a Reset or even delete the addon_data folder.

 Try 0.0.50.
Do an Update and the rytec addresses for the channels should get updated to the new locations.
Hopefully this will work for the time being.

xmltv Meld - creates a single xmltv file from rytec, zap etc - rich76 - 2019-01-10

I didn't have any Rytec channels originally I was just trying to add some so it should be with the new URL's.

I have tried a reset and also deleted my add-on data folder but now I am getting an error when trying to enter any country on Rytec.

If I copy back my backed up add-on folder the channels show for Rytec so I'm guessing they get cache in the temp folder?

The temp folder isn't getting re created either when deleting the add-on data folder.

Have the URLs for Rytec changed again?

Thanks for you help, much appreciated as always

Rich
