There are no plans to update to more recent versions. What you see is what you get.

Some users have expressed interest in doing it, in the past. Some have tried and have later abandoned the idea. aracnoz's code is open, anybody capable enough could try but it's no easy feat, unfortunately.

I know , i've followed the other post ... just wondering if @axbmcuser  might have intentions of doing so , or maybe others , since he's doing this project now.

Things were running well except for one blocking problem for me : I couldn't make Ambibox Kodi plugin work (I use Ambibox for my adalight compatible ambilight system).

I found the solution to make ambibox plugin work with DSPayer 17.7 64bits. Here it is if someone is also using ambibox for driving its DIY ambilight LED strip.

1- If you have previously installed the ambibox plugin, better uninstall it completely to start over.
    Check folders "[user kodi folder]\addons\script.ambibox" and "[user kodi folder]\userdata\addon_data\script.ambibox" are not present any more
2- In Windows download and install the software MediaInfo GUI Windows 64bits (mine is latest version 19.09)
3- In Kodi extension manager, download from Kodi repo the ambibox plugin 1.0.4.0 (do not use version 1.0.9.0 found in github as I found that it is buggy)
4- As you have previously installed mediaInfo GUI, do not use the "download mediainfo.dll" feature in the ambibox plugin configuration screen. It should says that MediaInfo is already present
5- Go back to Windows, edit the text file [user kodi folder]\addons\script.ambibox\resources\lib\mediainfo.dll.py
    Replace any lines containing:
    MediaInfoDLL_Handler = WinDLL(os.path.join( ... ))
    by:
    MediaInfoDLL_Handler = WinDLL(str(os.path.join( ... )))
6- Delete the file [user kodi folder]\addons\script.ambibox\resources\lib\mediainfo.dll.pyo if exists
7- In Windows, go to MadVR GUI Settings console, in section rendering / general settings, uncheck "enable automatic fullscreen exclusive mode"
Restart kodi and do the ambibox plugin configuration normally. That's it.

Great work! I am not an ambilight user but I greatly appreciate users that come back to report on solutions to problems they inquired about.

Hello, first of all i want to say thanks for this great project, this is best kodi build i ever seen, иut even though how good this project isi have 1 big problem with bitstreaming (i did setup everything correct, did read Manuals), i can catch randomly PCM signal when Pause\Unpause Movie, Receiver does not catch Bitstreaming always it falls asleep and after i unpause movie receiver re-connect bitstreaming and this is main problem of bitstreaming not through Kodi (Kodi have 2 options for sending noise to a receiver to prevent them from sleeping), no one of this audio Codecs (Lav Audio, ffdshow audio) doesn't have this features, please help me. This is a big problem because when i receive sometimes PCM noise (it can be totally random) it catches Loud Static Noice and it can hurt my speaker tweeters, if i pause it after static noise on 5 second receiver re-connecting bitsreaming. I have GTX 660 card with hdmi 1.3. Do i need to buy new videocard, or there so other way to solve this problem? Thank you.

RE: Kodi 17.7 DSPlayer x64 BETTERGUI (2020 build) - Dimetrixdemon - 2020-02-27

i did search for external programs, Sound keep alive is working nice, but when i bitstreaming it won't work like i want, program keep's PCM signal but not working when i playing through kodi dsplayer. Sry for my bad English by the way, i'm from Ukraine

RE: Kodi 17.7 DSPlayer x64 BETTERGUI (2020 build) - tingtong5 - 2020-02-27

I also have an issue with sound when using external filters. In my case bitstreaming is working fine, however if I disable bitstreaming for good old dolby digital (ac3) 5.1 then I do not have 5.1 channel pcm sound but stereo sound instead. With internal filters this is working fine. Any idea why this might be?

RE: Kodi 17.7 DSPlayer x64 BETTERGUI (2020 build) - mclingo - 2020-02-28

you should probably first test whether this is a DS issue or not, what happens when you setup external filters with something like MPC-HC, if you get the same issue it suggests your LAV audio isnt setup properly, make sure you've not set to mix to stereo by accident, also make sure force max DTS is unticked and fall back to PCM is ticked.

RE: Kodi 17.7 DSPlayer x64 BETTERGUI (2020 build) - Dimetrixdemon - 2020-02-28

Force max DTS is unticked and pcm fall back is ticked, but there's problem that i already googled called "Silent stream bug", it happens on Nvidia cards with nvidia drivers and this problem still not fixed. Amd cards with new drivers did that fix already. I already did everything i could do, installed Audio switcher v2, did try to install some other software also did try to set Stereo signal in my Windows, also Resample and other things (my all Lav codecs are up to date), and again my card not sending noise to prevent AV receiver from sleeping and this problem is only with bitstreaming. Gonna say it again, When i pause the Movie the receiver doesn't accept any signal and just waiting for something and when i unpause Receiver catches Bitstreaming fast enough. The problem is it can recatch PCM signal (In Exclusive Mode) somehow and gonna Reproduce Static noise or white noise some of this things and it's can be loud. There only one program that have potential to solve this problem called AV Audio Guard. AV Audio Guard in description can send noise through BitStreaming (it's the only one program that i saw can do that) but unfortunetaly this program was forgotten by the creator and you canno't download this anymore so i canno't test it. Maybe i'm looking in not right direction and problem with sudden static noise is something else. I'm Gonna test one thing with this problem, in DSplayer configuration u can set audio renderer as Directaudio Default, only on this option receiver recatches PCM and hold it up until i unpause Movie (and yes on this manipulation i can lose 1-2 seconds or maybe more while AV Receiver is re-connectin the signal) but maybe this option gonna be stable. Thanks for trying to solve this problem.

RE: Kodi 17.7 DSPlayer x64 BETTERGUI (2020 build) - Dimetrixdemon - 2020-02-28

The last thing i want to ask, sry for that big letter i left here. Maybe my card just need to be upgraded? my card is on 90-92% Load Playback is Stable, 90-92 standart on every movie HEVC or Blu-ray 1080p, so maybe because of this load video card are failing to send anew Bitstream audio . Movie have no issues with stuttering and audio. By the way sometimes i wasn't able to understand why my card suddenly started to load on 98-100% while movie is playing, this load can be solved with number of options - Reopen movie, try to Rewind, pause\unpause. Sometimes these options won't work. If you have some of this quesses, are AMD card more capable for HTPC.

I think I had this issue when I did not choose my Onkyo specifically as audio device inside the DsPlayer config in Kodi.

You still havent told us whether this is just KODI DS or whether it affects an other apps llike MPC-HC, if its bitstreaming in all apps then you are on the wrong thread, maybe try the LAV filter thread.

i'm very sorry, Yes, this happens on all players, i did try MPC-HC, MPC-BE, this not player fault. It's Bitsteaming fault i can tell now after 5 days of searching and doing something.

log it on the LAV filters forum then, many more people visit that on a regular basis.
