RE: Mezzmo Kodi addon UPnP/DLNA Library Sharing Support Thread - jbinkley60 - 2024-10-31 The first release, v0.0.1, of the Mezzmo Folder Manager has been published to GitHub and can be downloaded here. Mezzmo Folder Manager is another powerful tool in the Mezzmo Ecosystem which provides easy viewing into the playlist and folder structures in your Mezzmo library. For those leveraging the Mezzmo Kodi addon much of the folder data syncs to Kodi via the background sync process. Playlists stay on Mezzmo but are accessible by Kodi in GUI mode. For all non-Kodi clients folder and playlist information is accessed via the client interface. In addition to providing excellent visibility into your library this initial release supports bulk updating of folder and playlist descriptions. v.0.01 features and highlights • Sync folder and playlist information from the Mezzmo database • Export folder and playlist information to CSV file • Import folder and playlist information for bulk updating of descriptions • Update Mezzmo folder and playlist information from Mezzmo Folder Manager database • Maintain up to 10 timestamped copies of all data for quick restoration • Detailed logging to local logfile • Menu driven command functions for easy usage • Command line support for syncing with Mezzmo for automated backup operation • Backup Mezzmo Folder Manager database • Native Python and Windows 64 exe formats An initial wiki page has been created covering topics such as Getting Started, How it Works, Running Mezzmo Folder Manager and more. This is a work in progress and will continue to be updated over the next few weeks. While I am calling this a beta release it has been extensively tested. I have not added some automatic error handling yet, which I plan to do so in the future because I want to see if there are issues in the current code which it might mask. Please let me know if you see anything which looks odd or if you get any errors when running the tool. Thanks in advance, Jeff Please visit the Mezzmo Folder Manager wiki for more information RE: Mezzmo Kodi addon UPnP/DLNA Library Sharing Support Thread - jbinkley60 - 2024-11-02 Everyone, I am looking for some feedback on the proposed new feature Mezzmo Volume Manager. While I am generally quick to add new features to the Mezzmo Kodi addon, this feature has a couple of limitations imposed by Kodi and certain user setups that may make it a bit less attractive so feedback is very welcomed. Currently you can easily change the volume for an item playing in Kodi via the Kodi GUI (assuming you are not in passthrough mode) and Kodi will save the volume change so that when you return to this item the volume will be as you set it. Also you can set a volume change as a global default. However, these changes work on a Kodi-by-Kodi approach. In keeping with the strategy and power of the Mezzmo Kodi sharing ecosystem, the proposed Mezzmo Volume Manager feature would provide an easy centralized way to manage volume changes across all Kodi instances without reripping your media. The potential use cases I see are any items where you don't want to rerip the library item or situations like OTA / PVR recordings which get automatically dropped into your library and added dynamically. This could also be very valuable for folks who have multiple Kodi clients and want to manage things centrally like all of the other Mezzmo Kodi addon features like Movie Collections, Keywords, Moviesets and similar. In addition to the passthrough limitation, the current proposal would leverage the background sync process to propagate changes to Kodi clients vs. on-the-fly. Leveraging the sync process would not be a limitation for folks who use the Mezzmo Kodi addon in GUI mode since browsing the Mezzmo library is real time and keywords/tags are read immediately. But for native mode users Kodi leverages the Kodi database which requires it to be updated, which would be handled via the sync process. That just means there would be a slight delay syncing to all of your Kodi clients when you make volume adjustments with Mezzmo keywords. This may not be an issue since all other metadata changes occur the same way for Kodi native mode users. This new feature could be limited to Mezzmo GUI mode only usage but that would be limiting and not sticking with the general design themes of the Mezzmo Kodi addon. While this seems like an interesting overall proposal with a lot of time saving upsides, I am on the fence as whether to add it or not, given the passthrough mode limitation. However, the Mezzmo Movie Previews feature has the same limitation for automatically adjusting trailer volumes vs. the main feature movie.. I am looking for opinions and feedback. Thanks, Jeff Visit the Mezzmo Kodi addon Wiki for the latest RE: Mezzmo Kodi addon UPnP/DLNA Library Sharing Support Thread - jbinkley60 - 2024-11-12 Version 2.0.7, of the Mezzmo Movie Trailers Channel 2, has been published. This is a bug fix and adds enhanced debugging for future troubleshooting. You can download the Mezzmo Movie Trailers 2 Channel version 2.0.7 here. Separate download links are provided for each client format. The Windows 64 exe and native Python versions have identical functionality and commands. Upgrade instructions for the client software can be found here. There are no changes to the server software in this release. Version 2.0.7 updates • Improved exception handling reporting to make troubleshooting easier • Fixed bug where TMDB trailer titles with nonprintable characters could cause an exception error and trailer fetching to end prematurely. The new Wiki, supporting the version 2 channel, is complete. You can find details there for How it works, Getting Started, Running the channel and more. Check out these Kodi library views to see more. Thanks, Jeff Mezzmo Movie Trailers 2 channel wiki RE: Mezzmo Kodi addon UPnP/DLNA Library Sharing Support Thread - jbinkley60 - 2024-11-15 An updated version of the Mezzmo Kodi addon for Kodi v19+ (v2.2.1.0) has been posted on GitHub. This version is heavily focused on improving the look and feel of the Mezzmo search capabilities. It has 2 new addon options to allow setting a default search sort order and content type, since (depending upon your search criteria) Mezzmo can return movies, TV episodes, music videos, songs and more. This release also adds a new feature to help better manage automatically discovered PVR recordings playcount values that you may be watching as they are being added to your Mezzmo / Kodi library. *** Important Notes*** Please note, as mentioned previously, there will begin to be differences in features between the Kodi 18 and Kodi 19+ versions of the Mezzmo Kodi Addon. Feature differences will continue to grow and the Kodi 18 version is now bug fix only updates. Version 2.2.1.0 is another Kodi 19 release without a corresponding Kodi 18 version. A new Wiki page Managing Your Artwork has been added to assist with better utilizing all of the artwork management capabilities between Mezzmo and the Mezzmo Kodi Addon. This Wiki page should provide a number of tips, techniques and information on how to streamline artwork management. The additional artwork management capabilities release with version 2.2.0.8 build upon the existing capabilities highlighted in this Wiki page, Feedback is welcomed. v2.2.0.9 Kodi 19+ Highlights • Added automatic playcount adjustment, during the background sync process, for newly discovered in process PVR recordings to reset initial playcount to 1 if > 1. This is due to playcount getting incremented as the playback progress % reaches the playcount value while the recording is still occurring. This fix will set the proper playcount in both Mezzmo and Kodi. This feature is enabled with the Mezzmo Maximum Playcount setting when it is not set to Off. • Added passing Mezzmo keywords to Kodi tags when browsing your video library in GUI mode when running with Kodi version 20 and higher. Keywords are already passed as tags via the background sync process for Kodi native mode. • Added an option setting to select the default Mezzmo server search results sort order. The default sort order is by Default \ Label. • Added an option setting to select the default Mezzmo server search results content type. The default content type is None which means it will be determined by the Mezzmo search results. If you have version 1.1.4.4 or 2.1.4.4 installed (or higher) and automatic updates are enabled this update will be automatic over the next 24 hrs. Otherwise please use the links below for manual installation. There are separate links for the Kodi 18 and Kodi 19 versions. The Kodi 18 version is based upon the Kodi 19 v2.2.0.6 code. Kodi 18 link Kodi 19+ link Click on the download source as a zip option and then to add it to Kodi by using the install from zip file option. Feedback and feature requests are always welcome. I would like to understand how many of you use the addon to play music from Mezzmo ? Also I am interested in whether folks would like the option to sync live channels to Kodi in native mode. They would have to be added as a movie entry in the Kodi database since live streams don't have a their own Kodi database. For now they are available in GUI mode within the Mezzmo Kodi addon where you can view them right from the Mezzmo server. You feedback is used to help guide future feature development. In addition to checking for improper playcounts for media which has a last played value, checking will also occur for situations where new media has a low playcount value but no last played time. For those situations the playcount value will be set to 0. • Added new Last Played Media feature for quick access to the most recently watched media. • Moved the Performance Logging Enabled addon setting from the Content Control tab to the Diagnostics addon tab settings section If you have version 1.1.4.4 or 2.1.4.4 installed (or higher) and automatic updates are enabled this update will be automatic over the next 24 hrs. The Mezzmo sever is limited to MS Windows as the OS host but the MS Windows instance can be hosted as a virtualization guest OS on any number of virtualization solutions with Linux, Windows or another OS as the host OS. You'll need to confirm with the specific virtualization solution for questions here. The Mezzmo Kodi Addon client will run on anything Kodi runs on. Thanks, Jeff Visit the Mezzmo Kodi addon Wiki for the latest RE: Mezzmo Kodi addon UPnP/DLNA Library Sharing Support Thread - jbinkley60 - 2025-01-10 *** Important Notice*** On Monday, January 6, 2025, the Mezzmo team announced that they are ending the sale and support for the Mezzmo server software and are looking for a buyer to keep it going. I suspect they, like many, are feeling the pressures of so much content moving to online streaming solutions. I will continue supporting the Mezzmo Kodi addon and am in the process of standing up new repositories and Wiki pages for all of the Mezzmo Ecosystem software I have been supporting. You might be wondering why I would continue this development. The answer is simply that the server software is so mature and stable that most of the development in the past couple of years has been on the client and tools. Unlike some other sharing solutions Mezzmo didn't get into the online streaming and content delivery business, leaving that to others. This could possibly have led to their announcement. I can't say. The new Mezzmo Kodi addon repo has been stood up as well as the new Wiki. and new versions of both the Mezzmo Kodi addon for Kodi 18 (v1.2.0.7) and the Kodi 19+ (v2.2.1.3) have been posted GitHub. This version contains the new repository location so that you can continue to get updates in the future. If you have automatic updates enabled then you should get the new releases over the next 24 hours. If not, then please do an update whenever you can. I still have a ton of work to complete for moving the other repos and Wiki pages, to update all of the links and images to the new Wiki page site. They will continue to work for now but I want to get everything repointed soon. v1.2.0.7 Kodi 18 Highlights • Updated GitHub repo location from Conceiva to jbinkley60 v2.2.1.3 Kodi 19+ Highlights • Fixed a bug where Mezzmo Show TV Episodes could display additional TV Episodes or movies due to the Mezzmo server returning Like vs. an equal query results. The Mezzmo Kodi addon will now filter the Like results to an exact match on the TV Series. • Updated GitHub repo location from Conceiva to jbinkley60 If you have version 1.1.4.4 or 2.1.4.4 installed (or higher) and automatic updates are enabled this update will be automatic over the next 24 hrs. I will continue supporting the Mezzmo Kodi addon, Mezzmo channels and tools. I have completed standing up the new code repositories and Wiki pages for the channels. The new Mezzmo Kodi addon code repository and Wiki page have also been created but I still have some work to do to repoint many of the links on the Wiki to the new site. It will continue to work while I do this work in the backgrounmd. The Mezzmo Ecosystem wiki page has been updated and is the best place to get links for everything. This new version has a couple of new features and some minor fixes. v0.0.26 fixes and features: • Increased the maximum number of trailers to fetch per movie from 20 to 50. It is recommended to set to 50 if you have enabled only fetch TMDB YouTube trailers and ignore featurettes, video clips, shorts etc.. If this is disabled then set the number much lower. • Added a configuration file option to automatically clean skipped non-trailer files from the trailer DB if the same only fetch TMDB YouTube trailers option is enabled. This avoids manually database cleaning of skipped files. • Added automatic logfile pruning to 10,000 lines • Fixed bug where command line Help would not work only a ? would work • Modified checking for yt-dlp.exe updates to once a day vs. each time the Trailer Checker is run. • Added update command to force an immediate yt-dlp.exe update check To get started please review the Getting Started page on the Wiki. The current version of the Mezzmo Trailer Checker is v0.0.26 can be downloaded here. It is highly recommended to do a backup of your Mezzmo database before using the tool and the Mezzmo GUI and server service need to be stopped in order for it the checker to write to the Mezzmo database. This is a protection mechanism to ensure just one application is writing to the Mezzmo database at a time. The release notes for the various releases can be found here. I added a couple of Wiki pages with step-by step instructions and screenshots on how to use the Mezzmo Trailer Checker with Mezzmo to automatically add local trailers and how to edit / update them. I hope you will find these very helpful. I have begun a FAQ Wiki page (Frequently Asked Questions) with some of the most common questions related to running the tool with Mezzmo. The FAQ has a number of Kodi specific questions. The tool has been working very well for me, especially since the fixes in v0.0.3. I find myself watching more movies in my Mezzmo / Kodi library due to the the Mezzmo Movie Previews feature and local trailers I have Mezzmo Movie Previews set to 3 previews. Now I get 3 random trailers from the release year of the movie which haven't been watched in my library, then the main movie starts. It's an almost movie theater-like experience..
