I'm running Libreelec on a rpi3, not sure if that's the issue. The bug happens when transitioning from a Movie Widget to Tv show widget or btwn the different movies, and during the auto transition briefly.. I'll try and recache and compress the cache images.

No this is very unusual and I haven't encountered it at all. There is a fade transition between background images, but that should be less than a second, not permanent!

Thanks
I don't think it's possible.

I usually just disable parent folder items in library settings.
Thank you so much. I've been using Kodi for years and never knew about this feature  Smile

Love the setup for the music player. Is there a way you could have the player draw clearlogo artwork from artist. I have a lot of compilation albums and the clearlogo seems to draw from the album data (Various Artists).

Works fine when its an actual album from the artist so i assume it pulls the metadata from album info...

Cheers, Keep up the great work!

Where do those colorful texts come from? Is that some kind of lyric, or just a picture?

So glad I could get this for Leia. Is there a way to automatically update my widgets? I can do it manually with reload skin. Thanks

If you have the Cu lrc lyric addon, enable video lyrics in skin settings.

Kodi auto updates widgets after you watch something.

RE: Arctic: Zephyr 2 - Gloucester - 2019-07-17

Just installed Arctic Zephyr 2 on my OSMC Kodi box and it is looking great! The only annoying problem is that I can't seem to set the "clouds" background image (from AZ1) onto the main menu. Is that background distributed with AZ2 at all? If not, could I please have a link - I have gotten used to it!

I've followed the instructions on page 1, including removing the simple cache db. I'm using the latest skin alpha in the repo, have my OMDB API key in and working etc.

Do you have a TMDB and Fanart.tv API key as well as omdb? Skin Helper imposes a delay to retrieving the ratings (cached or not) if you don't have all three api keys. This delay is to avoid overloading webservers.

Ideally skin helper would retrieve cached info immediately and only impose the delay on web lookups. Unfortunately, there isn't anyone that has put their hand up to contribute to skin helper in marcelveldt's absence, so this issue is unlikely to be improved any time soon. Until someone chips in to improve the code then it is what it is.

Thanks @jurialmunkey I've done as you suggest and this has improved it although loading the cached versions takes longer than I would have expected. Other info (fanart/posters, imdb rating etc) all load instantly but the other rating can take a second or 2 to appear (but then they're quick again for a re-visit as presumably they're cached in mem). I think this is just an optimisation issue, possibly in metadatautils, as its running on a high powered intel NUC with NVME SSD. I have confirmed they are being cached in the sqlite simplacache db and I also checked out the code to see there is indeed a delay imposed without your own API keys. The metadatautils code does this seperately for each API, but I have not looked at the code enough to understand why the delay affects all 3 despite some having a personal API key - probably code somewhere is waiting on gathering all of them before returning. I'm not a python expert and I only took a quick look.

Anyway, thanks for the tip (don't know if it would be worth highlighting on post 1 in the ratings instructions that using all 3 API's may speed ratings loading?)

I have one minor observation with the skin - is it possible to have the settings menu add the additional libreelec specific settings menu? At present any libreelec users need to change skins to access this settings menu (ie, for software updates).

Yeah I think that skinhelper service is waiting for a response from all three before outputting the info into window properties for the skin to use. I think this is because SH only does this once for all info for the current item when the item is focused rather than updating window properties individually. Plus it grabs a lot of info, which is likely the cause of the delay.

In terms of something a little faster, AZ2 also supports axbmcuser's ListItemHelper which can be downloaded from their repo:
https://github.com/axbmcuser/_repo/raw/master/leia/repository.axbmcuser/repository.axbmcuser-1.1.5.zip

If you install ListItemHelper, you need to add omdb and tmdb api keys to its settings. It retrieves the ratings faster, but only works for movies. However, you can install it alongside SkinHelper so that you get ratings for both. The skin will preference ListItemHelper ratings, but will use SkinHelper ratings if ListItemHelper ratings are not available. ListItemHelper is much faster because it outputs far fewer infolabels. Really all these service add-ons need to be made modular so that skins can only enable the sections that they need.

I don't mention ListItemHelper in the main post because axbmcuser developed it specifically as a companion to Confluence Zeitgeist and so it isn't really designed for general release with other skins currently (and I'm not sure what changes are planned down the line for it) - but it does work with the caveat that it is experimental currently.

Adding libreelec settings option is planned, just haven't got up to that point in my todo list yet!

By default it doesn't. It only does this if I start kodi from fresh or I select reload skin. . If I have it idling it doesn't do anything. Is there a setting I can confirm?

Yes it does - whenever you finish watching something from the library and it gets marked as watched, then all the content paths refresh. If your widgets are not updating after you watch something, then you probably aren't using library content.

You won't know if the widget is updating because a busy indicator is only shown if an EMPTY widget is updating. Widgets which already have content won't show a busy indicator - they just update immediately once the new content finishes loading in the background. When you reload the skin, everything is cleared, so that's why you see a busy indicator on everything. Please don't think that the lack of a busy indicator means nothing is happening.

@omaramiromo - please, no banned addons (wiki) here. I'll let this slide as you're trying to sort out a skin issue, but any thought that your problems are related to that addon and your post will get summarily removed.
