I had implemented this once when I was still unsure about the navigation in the widgets. Here also localized strings are missing
EDIT: I'm still not quite sure what the right behavior is. I need to test this again, but I think what you suggested sounds good.

I have now tested this and I think that was also always one thing that bothered me subconsciously when coding
I will upload the changes soon and set the new behaviour as default

It's not as easy as I thought it would be....
I have added a setting that enables the behavior you want, i think. If more then 1 widget is active, it works fine.
Note: if only 1 widget is active, no navigation to up or down by onup or onwodn is possible, also no focus to the left. I can check if only 1 widget is shown, but unfortunately the conditions for it don't work and I don't know why. Also it was necessary to do a skin reload when the option is enabled.

I don't understand this point. I have try without skin reload and with skin reload.
I have no difficulty to focus item on the left or on the right.
No difference for me, all works fine with only 1 Widget in all case.

I wanted to test these parameters in Settings => Extras to be sure to make a correct french translate in strings.po :
1 - "On back, widgets do not return to initial position"
2 - "On up, when at first widget, do not jump back to last widget"
3 - "On down, when at last widget, widgets do not return to initial position"
4 - "On up/down at first/last widget, go to last/first widget"
These are understood and operational :
2 - "On up, when at first widget, do not jump back to last widget"
4 - "On up/down at first/last widget, go to last/first widget"
But with those on / off I don't see any difference :
1 - "On back, widgets do not return to initial position"
3 - "On down, when at last widget, widgets do not return to initial position"
Of course tested with "Modern Multi-Widget / Modern Multi-Widget Netflix" layout
Perhaps I must change my glasses ...

1. When you have e.g. 3 widgets: If the 3. widget is focused, you press back, the home row gets focused and the widgets dont slide to the top to 1. widget.
3. Same behavior as on back: If the 3. widget is focused, you press down, the home row gets focused and the widgets dont slide to the top to 1. widget.
