RE: YouTube - JNRW - 2024-06-14

Thank you for your reply @MoojMidge in post #2322. As soon as your posts reach the critical level I will remember to “Like” you as I am grateful for your support.
I continue to have problems only with live streams but there are two (GB News and a particular cat video) which work perfectly. They start instantly and show the correct live time. All others are corrupted so I ask whether there would be any useful information (metadata?) on these two which would lead to a solution but I would not know where to look.

I am running YouTube 7.0.7 obtained from GitHub and the stable v21 Omega. I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled YouTube including the API stuff.

EDIT: I have just installed 7.0.8+ beta. 1 and it is still the same.

There are still some minor fixes to be made in relation to this, but v7.0.8+beta.1 should have resolved the majority of related issues.

If you are still having problems, then it might be a different issue and the next step is to get a debug log showing playback of the stream that works, and another debug log showing playback of the stream that doesn't work: Log file/Easy - Official Kodi Wiki

Once again thank you for your assistance. I have uploaded two logs, the first is of the successful live cat video, the second is of the unsuccessful Sky News Live. In all unsuccessful streams it is the video at fault not the audio. The problem only affects live streams and not anything else.

Can you describe in greater detail what the issue is that you are seeing? You mentioned previously that the live streams were starting with a low resolution, but that stopping and restarting allowed you to play them at a higher resolution. Is this the same problem you are still having or is it something else?

Is this the actual problem you are seeing now? Can you provide further details? Do the unsuccessful streams take a long time to start? What is incorrect about the live time? How do they appear corrupted?

The logs you have provided don't seem to indicate that your original issue is occuring. The same type of manifests are being fetched and opened for both streams. The only real difference is that one stream is using a low resolution H.264 stream (the successful cat stream), while the other (the unsuccessful news stream) is initially using a low resolution H.264 stream but is then trying to switch to a higher resolution VP9 stream (which actually uses less bandwidth than the lower resolution H.264 stream), based on your internet connection speed.

However the log of the unsuccessful stream doesn't seem to indicate that the video decoder is actually being initialised after the stream switch, which is probably the cause of the issue you are seeing. There was one other report about a similar problem, but that was where the stream was switching between different Representations within the same AdaptationSet, while this is switching between completely different AdaptationSets.

Can you open an issue on Github about this? There are a few things to test and try, but it is too involved to discuss in detail here.

RE: YouTube - JNRW - 2024-06-17

Thank you for your considered reply. I have made a three minute video, which I hope explains things better than words, however, I cannot for the life of me find out how to include it in this message.

The video is located in Photos on my iPad and I would send the post to this forum from the same iPad. Can anyone explain how to do it? I really have tried hard to do this so my apologies for being thick.

RE: YouTube - kadeschs - 2024-06-17

Why does the “My Subscriptions” not work any longer in the latest versions? My API keys are included and it used to work flawlessly in earlier versions. Everything else seems to still be working fine.

Have you tried version 7.0.8+ beta.2 from GitHub?

RE: YouTube - style1to - 2024-06-19

My Youtube plugin has been playing videos at 720p up until recently it when it started playing everything at 640x368.
I haven't changed any settings but, I have checked and it's still set to "1080p live/ 720p".
Choosing "play (ask for quality)" gives 360p as the highest option.
I was using v.7.0.3. I tried upgrading to v.7.0.5 but it hasn't helped.
An assistance would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

I haven’t tried any of the betas. I’ll see if that fixes it. Thanks.

RE: YouTube - JNRW - 2024-06-19

There is no doubt about it. YouTube version 7.0.8+beta.3 from GitHub is a great step forward as far as my problems were concerned.

Live streams for which the actual time is important (e.g. the news channels) do run in real time. Other live streams run but at minutes different to real time but this is not important to me.

Most of the corrupted streams now run and those which do not only require me to click on the video settings icon (roll of film) and then choose the other video stream, as there always seem to be two (h264 and vp9).

I am most grateful to everybody who strives to keep this add on functioning.

Installed from Master on Kodi 20 via Debian. Working like a champ. Much thanks for all of the hard work here on what I'm sure is a constantly-moving target. Only oddity I've encountered so far is that sometimes, when selecting a video, I will get a playback error. Simply re-selecting the video again will result in it being played. Minor issue - everything else seems to just "work". Lovely.

Run the Setup Wizard, use the recommended default settings and choose the device settings that best match what you use.

Known issue with the latest beta versions. Will be fixed for next release.

Thanks. Seems to be working now.

RE: YouTube - Marxiboy - 2024-06-21

Since a few versions back, sometimes I'm stuck with crappy French audio translation. Good Mythical Morning channel is doing this and I can't switch the audio back to original.

Is there any fix for that?

Thanks
