In the widget for "similar to" change the item limit to 25 or lower.

They're talking about in the infodialog, not in a widget. Not sure why it would be slow to load though - a minute is a long time.
thanks, lol i thought i was missing something there... yeah the info dialog....everything else loads up fast enough...studios, collections, cast also feature in... hmm may do a fresh kodi install tomorrow, cheers.

RE: Arctic: Zephyr 2 - curael - 2019-07-25

@jurialmunkey Hi Jurial, I finally updated to Leia and configured Media Player Classic BE as external player and set up the Harmony to control it! This is how eager I am to try out your new Aura features and this new AZ2!

Observations, bugs and requests while I've been tinkering. (These might have been mentioned before specially the Season Info 2 bug, forgive me if that's the case.)

Couple of things:

Those multi season views you've made are genius - in theory I never need to traverse more than one step down into the library cause I have all the seasons and episodes there, readily available! However, they die on me sometimes - I select an episode, and the title, info and thumbnail stays the same (ep1) of the show as I roll through the seasons. I can make it happen when I go from Season Info to Season Info 2. It works until I switch view then all the metadata locks on episode 1. I hope you understand what I mean, lol. As a matter of fact, now that I'm testing it out, it seems like it's Season Info 2 that is acting up by itself. It just locks up on the first selected episode. How ever if I exit out of the view and back in, it starts working properly. Confused Hmm. Oh well.

This is more of a request: I loved how Aura had the episode widget show the name of show and episode title directly on the thumbnail, in the home menu. It made it fairly easy to identify what show you were looking at without having to highlight it. I'd like to see something like that in AZ2 too. I don't think it would clutter the layout too much as long as it's in the multi widget view.

Since Krypton I have never been able to change watch state on the episode widget directly from the home menu, only on the poster widgets with seasons in them. I don't know if this is a skin limitation or something you could fix so that individual episodes could be marked watched directly from the home menu. At least this never worked in Aura either.

I'd also love to see the fan art blur edit implementation in Aura, ported to AZ2 - how ever that's purely cosmetic and is hardly important in alpha. It was just a very sexy way of blurring the images just how I like it and a neat feature in general.

Oh, and an option to disable the clear art on the episode widgets would be nice too since I hate clear art, lol.

It'd also be sweet if you could customize the geometric pattern's color so that the buttons would become another color than black/gray. Would add a little spice and personality to individual Zephyrs.

And last but not least, you know me - I need that Arial font for those Japanese Kanji to stop being squares and empties. Wink I believe you added that into Aura as well once I asked - lol.

Oh and a foot note - I love the vertical menu and what you're doing with it - however, I find navigating it a bit cumbersome as going back and forth between items takes a long time. There's no good way to go back to the first item, and no good way of going to the last if you wanna browse it from the other end.
Since the back key operates by always taking you back to the Menu and not to the start of the widget at hand, I'd suggest that when ever returning to the menu, on Back press, I'd force the widget to reset to the first item.
Another way is I'd lock into the widget so that back and forth only worked inside of the widget, so you could go from first item to last item on left press, and only once I hit back, I'll be taken back to the Menu - which would reset the widget, also. When you look at Aura, it handles the widgets differently, and I really like how I can return to the first item by hitting back. Maybe first back hit will take you to the start, once on start, do a statement or something that says " on first item of widget, back is now set to return user to menu." If not on first item, back will reset the widget to first item?

It also doesn't work as in Aura even when in the horizontal home menu - which is unfortunate - but I guess you can't really have different ways of navigating, based on layout, at least that the only thought I could come up with as why it wouldn't work as in Aura, in horizontal mode.

Obviously I know that it can't work like how Aura does since the menu on the side is also implemented on Left press and Back press.. But yeah.  I just wanted to mention it.

Once again, you've made a brilliant theme and I can't wait to see what else you implement into it! Thank you so much for all your work.

Sometimes a one-liner just doesn't cut it.

I'm sorry if it hurt your eyes or brain.

You might want to edit your quote of my post to slim it down a bit so it's not there twice.

Yeah you are right - I forgot that it opens locally for items with a dbid. The extendedinfo option just allows for showing items not in the library too.

If I recall correctly, the similar function of extendedinfo no longer works. I remember using it for something in AZ1 and I'm pretty sure it stopped working quite a while ago (which would explain its removal from ftv). I think it used trakt, which no longer functions correctly in extended info - only themoviedb stuff works in extendedinfo now.

Okay, but TMDB has recommendations in their api, too. Then the only ways are to fix this in extended info (but phil65 seems not to be active) or maybe add this to skin.helper.widgets?

Any way someone can do this? Maybe as a pull request in marcelveldt‘s repo?

Should be fix as of 0.9.41-alpha4 - please test latest release and confirm.

Added for episodes.
You can also use Small Landscape widgets to see info underneath the thumb.

Works fine for me from context menu.
What are you using as the widget?

Fanart blur is available in Skin Settings > Background > Blur background.

If you don't like clearart then why do you download it?
In the info dialog for the tvshow click "Manage" > "Select Art (Kodi)" > "Clearlogo" > "No art"
If you only have an option for local art, then you need to delete the clearlogo from the folder first.

It's a no to this request. AZ is a mostly monochrome skin. Color accents are used sparingly.

Maybe once I'm out of Alpha. Multiple fontsets are far too difficult to manage when making significant changes to the skin.

Yeah vertical menu navigation still needs some work.
Back press reset is a good idea. Not sure of any way to get to the last item though. Vertical menu navigation is always going to be cumbersome because there isn't any completely intuitive way to navigate unlike horizontal menu layout.

The problem is that Kodi overrides back button behaviour if something is playing and will instead always toggle fullscreen video/visualisation.
So if you make navigation dependent on the back button to get to the menu then you will get stuck inside the widget if something is playing.

Yeah this is the advantage of only having one home menu layout. Having multiple home menu layouts mean some compromises have to be made in terms of navigation (or else manage massively complicated conditions).

Is this only an option with local media?

Also is there any possibility in the future for the basic home layout mixed with the horizontal layout?

RE: Arctic: Zephyr 2 - drinfernoo - 2019-07-27

One solution might be circular navigation, @jurialmunkey Laugh I would imagine it working something like... if you continue to the end of the list, it repeats over and over, allowing you to go back a ways as well, and the back button would reset it to the "first" item in the list. does that make sense?

I'm currently working on a "TheMovieDB Helper" plugin which will provide skinners with access to TheMovieDb's API.
Ultimately I'm looking at providing a more skinner customisable approach that eventually will hopefully replace many of the parts in extendedinfo.
My Python skills are fairly average, so it is slow going and I'm learning a lot along the way - but the current state is looking promising.
