Also make sure online lookups are turned on for ratings (skin interface) as that needs to be on for the tmdbhelper service monitor to work.
That was it! Thanks.

@jurialmunkey I'd like the random movies widget on the home screen to only display the images, not the movie title and other text, akin to how it worked in AZ2. Have you thought of adding a setting? If not, if it's as simple as commenting out some lines of XML plz point me to the right file.

Edit: I know in AZ2 the titles were there, just hidden on the submenu. I don't play movies from any of the home screen widgets, so I could say what I really just need is a random movie fanart scroller widget.

RE: Arctic Horizon - MrSeb - 2020-12-13

Hello, I would like to know what type of Widget you are using for movies, TV series and music.

Thx

RE: Arctic Horizon - atown_steve - 2020-12-13

Settings may have changed by now but back on page 96 jm typed the following:

Quote:In terms of skin settings, FXB78 is correct - I use the default settings, but with wall disabled as I prefer the alphabet/scrollbar/filter approach to finding something in a big list.

In terms of widget / main menu my setup is fairly straight forward.

All my main menu items open the submenu popup.

Widget layout:
Movies
- TMDbHelper > Randomised > Popular Movies
- TMDbHelper > Trakt > Trending Movies
- TMDbHelper > Randomised > Based on Recently Watched Movies
- Autowidget > Various Trakt Lists (e.g. Big 4 Academy Awards; Best Sci-Fi movies etc.)
- Autowidget > Various Genre and Studio widgets (e.g. Studio Ghibli Films, Animation, Documentaries, etc.)
- TMDbHelper > Randomised > Popular Trakt List
- Recently Added Movies
- TMDbHelper > Trakt > Watchlist
- TMDbHelper > Movie Genres (icon)

TVShows
- TMDbHelper > Trakt > Trending (banner)
- TMDbHelper > Trakt > Recently Watched Shows (landscape)
- TMDbHelper > Trakt > Calendar > Last Fortnight (landscape)
- TMDbHelper > Trakt > In-Progress (landscape)
- TMDbHelper > Trakt > Watchlist
- Autowidget > Various TMDbHelper widgets based on Networks (e.g. Netflix, HBO, Amazon)
- Recently Added Episodes
- TMDbHelper > TVShow Genres (icon)

Music
- Random Artists (square)
- Top100 Albums (square)

Addons
- Recently Played TV Channels (square)
- Video Addons (square sorted by last used).

Search
- Fullscreen widget - Random Movies

Settings
- Weather widget

In My Movies submenu
- TMDbHelper subsection (e.g. Movies section)
- TMDbHelper search
- TMDbHelper genres
- Trending Lists (movies submenu only)
- TMDbHelper > Trakt > Recently Watched
- TMDbHelper Discover
- Library All Titles

TV submenu is the same except that Trending Lists is replaced by Next Aired (Trakt) calendar.

Addons submenu has various different addon sections plus commands to install from repo etc.

Search has no submenu -- just calls Horizon search menu.

Settings has shortcuts to things like filemanager.

I was using showcase hubs for a while instead of popup submenu but I found that mostly interact with widgets or info dialogs, so it was simpler just to have popup submenu.

Hello, this is a very good, nice, and impressive skin! I have a (probably stupid) question: is there a setting to increase font size a bit? For our bedroom 22 inch TV this is, unfortunately, too small.

No there isn't, it's just a placeholder for where there is no info. Although if you update to the latest git version there should be just one line with no date on there.

I have two Shield TVs so after setting the first one up with Arctic Horizon I set the second one up the exact same way. All the same boxes checked and unchecked and the same black background set as the fallback image. I also set the same black background for each shortcut on the Main Menu. On one Shield TV, on the Main Menu, the background is black and I can see the Menu title, clock/weather and at the bottom the day/date/year I wanted to remove. On the second Shield TV, on the Main Menu even though I am using the same black image on all the shortcuts, the Main Menu isn't the same. The background isn't really black. It looks more like when the busy loader is running. Like my black image with some kind of filter over it and the day/date/year at the bottom of the screen is gone. How do I have two different results with the same settings and how do I make one like the other?

Ah okay, I was thinking of something else. That's the Full Screen Widget which is enabled by default, I don't know of any way to disable it other than by adding a Widget to the screen. Also, the only reason I can think that it shows on one and not the other is that you probably have an older version of the skin on one of the devices.

How do I remove the filename showing when the OSD with play/pause/FF/rewind/progress shows up?  It shows up in big bold white fonts and is distracting. Arctic Zephyr 2 does not show the filename  by default and I cannot find a setting to remove this in Horizon

Hello, For the "Genre", I am missing some images like drama, story, mystery ... Why ?

Thx

The icons are only English language based, are you using a different language? If so, see https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=358018&pid=2985124#pid2985124

RE: Arctic Horizon - dberg - 2020-12-16

Is there any way to show fanart for the background of the TV and Movie library views but hide it when browsing widgets on the main menu?

Displaying fanart in the background of the Poster Art view looks awesome when I'm browsing my movie library, but it looks too busy when browsing through the widgets on my menu because they take up a lot of real estate and you can barely see the fanart.

I've set a fallback image under the appearance settings and also configured background images for each main menu item under the customize home menu settings, but nothing appears to have an impact.

Does anyone know how I could remove the fanart from the widget backgrounds and still allow it to appear as the background in Kodi library views?

RE: Arctic Horizon - mika91 - 2020-12-17

Hi,
Sorry for the stupid questions... but I didn't find where to customize background colors (overlay or plain colors when no fanart)?
Thanks

Basically, full screen widget showcase with the "play", and "show information" buttons. But if you go down to the other widgets that are set up. The "play", and "show information" buttons go away, and whatever media is highlighted in the widget below is shown on the full screen widget above.

Sorry if i i sound confusing.

I've already tried this sort of thing. It doesn't work. As soon as you have any background that is light or has any sort of detail in it, then it becomes extremely difficult to read the text. The only way this sort of thing is possible is if I had more control over the types of fanart used e.g. if I could specify to use fanart where most of the detail is aligned to the right of screen, then it could work - but with the variability of fanart, it just simply does not work.

Fanart with bright details makes text unreadable:

Even with darker artwork, if there is any variability you lose text

The showcase hub overlay works because the majority of the screen does not have text, so only a small corner needs to be dimmed. For that sort of effect to work with the standard library views where there is much more content on screen, the overlay would need to cover nearly the entire screen which then defeats the whole purpose. That's why the standard library background is relatively dark - it has to work with a variety of backgrounds.
This is exactly the look i was struggling to explain to you Smile

It looks nice like this to me. You`re 100% right though. Text is unreadable.

Do you think it`s possible to add a dark, slightly transparent overlay or blur to only display where there`s text. Kind of like you did where it says info, trailer, similar etc io the first pic?

Found this on Google. Something similar (maybe a little more transparency) to this:  Image

Not sure if that`s possible (sounds like a lot of work) to insert only where there`s text, but it would help with unreadable text.

Edit: looking at the two pictures you posted again. I noticed the bottom half of each picture has more darker shadows than the top half (gradient-like). The top has less shadow. You could probably put the shadow used on the bottom, and duplicate it up top, and it would have more readable text.Hi Guy
Hi Guy,

According to me , AH is the best shin for kodi,   very simple to use, and beautiful , Very Great Job !!!!   I know that you have already speak about shadow  but i would know if is a way to put off the shadow background of the home screen ?  Just to try  ,      thanks
