Unfortunately there are no relevant details in the log to determine anything. Did Kodi crash immediatelly afterwards (seems unlikely)? Or is there more after the log snippet that you provided? Post the whole log and/or a crash dump and it can be looked into.

You don't need to do a clean install of anything, just follow the instructions: https://github.com/anxdpanic/plugin.video.youtube/issues/439

If it isn't working for you, then unfortunately the reality is that not all the steps have actually been followed, however can't help you any further without knowing what you are getting stuck on.

If there are steps in the instructions that you can't follow, or if you see something different that you don't understand, then you need to identify what parts are causing you problems, and then further help can be provided.

Perhaps. You want the context menu "fixed", while I have told you I am not going to change it because the context menu should not be showing by default, and I won't be adding redundant duplicated items into the context menu to suit a scenario where the default select action is not being used.

The Kodi GUI setting you are referring to does not display the context menu by default and the only way this is likely to occur is if you have modified your keyboard/remote config to do so, or perhaps are using a skin that is overriding the default click action. Afaik it is not caused by Kodi or this plugin. If you want to look into this further then you will need to provide the previously requested information.

(2024-09-24, 18:21)DJ_Izumi Wrote: This is not the end of the world, but for future reference, is there some way I could have preserved the watch status of the YouTube addon?

You can backup the plugin database files from userdata\addon_data\plugin.video.youtube\UUID\*.sqlite where UUID is a unique identifier for each of the users that have been setup in the plugin. history.sqlite contains the local playback history including resume info and watched status.

Note that local playback history saving was broken in v7.0.9.x, so the plugin would not have been updating the local history and watched status would only have been saved to the bookmarks in your Kodi DB when using those versions. Fixed again in latest beta: https://github.com/anxdpanic/plugin.video.youtube/releases/tag/v7.1.0%2Bbeta.4

I am on Ubuntu 22.04 and Youtube v7.0.9.2.

Here is a debug log showing the error:

Thanks for the log. I would recommend running the Setup Wizard, use the recommended settings and then configure the performance settings for 1080p/60 fps video or greater. You are limiting the streams you can use because of the settings you have selected (InputStream.Adaptive and MPEG-DASH disabled), and the stream that was selected was not available at the time. Different streams take some time to be created after a video is uploaded.

RE: YouTube - know nothing - 2024-09-25

Thanks MoojMidge for helping out.

I have give up now on Pi just keep getting errors. I did notice when come to login tutorial showed had login twice both was google/device else were I see on second login had google/register.
When I thought I just log into a web browser load Linux lite on data stick I see I have change boot loaded that seemed to work by screen going Green but then just keep rebooting and not pick up the OS on data stick.

Many more hours wasted. All this above my skill set, so going try sell PI on ebay.
Thanks again tho.

RE: YouTube - davidjm - 2024-09-26

Hi,

Yesterday I did a fresh install of the youtube addon  since the version I was running was old and it seems to be working mostly fine.  The one thing I have noticed since then though is if I stop a video for whatever reason and come to restart it later I am no longer getting the option to resume and it starts from the beginning.  I have gone through the addon settings but can't seem to find anything related to allowing resumes.

I was wondering if I was missing something?  Any advice would be appreciated.

Hello, it cashes immediatelly after I start the plugin, after a freeze of a few second. Here is the crash dump/log :

RE: YouTube - Chizad - 2024-09-26

From skimming the last couple of pages it seems like a lot of people are having a similar problem as me.

I use YouTube almost entirely just for playing trailers from the Info page of a movies, which has been broken. Spent today trying to fix it and failed.

I get the Setup Wizard prompt every time I try to run YouTube. Click through the 9 prompts (I've tried setting them, and I've tried skipping them all). Get an error and it tells me to check the logs.

In the log is this line:
Code:
CAddon[plugin.video.youtube]: failed to load addon settings from special://profile/addon_data/plugin.video.youtube/settings.xml

I went to C:\Users\%\AppData\Roaming\Kodi\userdata\addon_data\plugin.video.youtube and checked the settings.xml and sure enough, the file was blank.

I had also created a YouTube API thinking that was the problem, but when I enter that in the Add-On Settings, it doesn't update the settings.xml file.

I know you guys prefer to paste the full log to https://paste.kodi.tv/, but I'm trying to do that now and getting a "Something Went Wrong!" error on my 29,461 line log.

If anyone can send a functioning Settings.XML file or tell me what should be in it, I think that might fix the issue?

RE: YouTube - The Diplomat - 2024-09-26

All youtube videos stopped working, they return the following error when you try to load them regardless the addon version (running on Kodi Matrix 19.4)

"Failed to get player response for video_id..."

Is anyone experincing this issue?

No, but you really need to provide more info (best link to your debug log).

Hi,

Sure, here's the log when reproducing the issue:

Thanks.

RE: YouTube - doko-desuka - 2024-09-28

@The Diplomat your installed add-on is very old (6.8.26~alpha4), do update it. The latest version is 7.1.0~beta5.

RE: YouTube - Sorrylol - 2024-09-30

hey, by chance, is there any way to get this working on Krypton? trying to update to any of the newer versions, gives an error with dependency missing for either 'python 2.26.0', or 'inputstream.adaptive' any work arounds by chance? this was working fine until very recently (on version 6.8.25). appreciate any insight and thank you.

RE: YouTube - malvinas2 - 2024-09-30

@Sorrylol
Krypton is EOL for ages.

Thank you for the reply! and yeah I know that, I've tried updating to newer versions, and have always had issues with it. I've just fine tuned so many things with Krypton that I just prefer it to anything else (at least on PC), on android I use Leia, which is the next closest thing. I actually just ended up finding the fix, so it's now up and running again, from here:

RE: YouTube - Sorrylol - 2024-09-30

crap, kinda spoke too soon lol, music videos fail to play, for whatever reason T__T

RE: YouTube - bfoot - 2024-09-30

Corrected the code of the file "~/.kodi/addons/plugin.video.youtube/resources/lib/youtube_plugin/youtube/helper/video_info.py":

1. Replace MOBILE_HEADERS with the following:

Code:
    MOBILE_HEADERS = {
        'User-Agent': ('Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; Android 13; Pixel 6 Pro)'
                       ' AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko)'
                       ' Chrome/112.0.0.0 Mobile Safari/537.36'),
        'Accept': '*/*',
        'DNT': '1',
        'Accept-Encoding': 'gzip, deflate',
        'Accept-Language': 'en-US,en;q=0.5'
    }

2. Delete all payload.
3. Insert payload:

Code:
        payload = {'videoId': video_id,
                   'context': {'client': {'clientVersion': '19.08', 'gl': self.region,
                                          'clientName': 'ANDROID', 'hl': self.language}},
                   'thirdParty': {'embedUrl': 'https://google.com'}
        }

4.Enjoy)
