Thanks! That's certainly a helpful bit of knowledge.

Except now I'm just totally lost, as we should have very similar setups.  I uninstalled and reinstalled Last Viewed, and it's still not working.  Did you install everything that was in the 5 star repo, or just the Last Viewed add-on?  I've tried some of the other included add-ons, hoping that would be the difference.  Still no local files I play in the native Kodi player show up.

I have yet to figure out how Kodi's log works.

Thank you, Wheresthebeef, good to see people getting out of their way to help others

MarkerB, the difference might be what and how you are playing.

Did you "Try to play something from the kodi library without any addon."?

The kodi log is just a file with precisely that name inside the kodi directory.
If you activate debug in the lastplayed addon, in will insert some lines in the log that may help.

Thank you!

I set the "played list path" to an external USB drive that should have open permissions. I watched a few more videos, but it still doesn't seem to be showing anything.

Is there an error log somewhere for this add-on?

On the addon setting you can activate the debug log. It will add to the kodi log traces of what is played and tracked.

Do you use another addon to play those videos? Try to play something from the kodi library without any addon.
I made this option. Still nothing in list, just in debug, but it shows strange....

I don't have any Kodi addons besides Last Played.  I play everything from local files using the default Kodi player.

Here are errors from the log that might help: iboxumutok.kodi (paste)

I could save my whole log, but it's so large I don't want to waste space.

Please see if on the log there is any line talking about:  addon.py line x

The message you sent says that kodi could not execute the addon, usually there is a line before telling why and on which line the error is

Where did you install the addon from? Did you use links on the first page, and the version you have is 1.3.0?

There is no text "addon.py" in the log file

Here is the log from all the way back to the start of the same session, and for many more entries after the previous snippet I posted:

hadenowaxi.kodi (paste)

"Direct texture file loading failed for androidapp://sources/apps/com.plexapp.android.png"

There are other loading errors, you could try intalling other addon to see if the problem is with kodi itself.

Also on the kodi settings, there is an option to increase the log level of detail, maybe it can shed some light on this.

Which add-ons should I try installing?

... or do you mean I should try uninstalling other add-ons? As I've mentioned before, yours is the only add-on I've installed.

Maybe I'll uninstall Kodi entirely and start from scratch, with or without a backup of its settings.  There is a lot of setup I've done, like path mappings and custom keymaps.

I meant install, if the other addons have similar problems, the issue probably is in kodi. if you try on a clean install, test before doing the customisation.

I performed a clean install of the entire Shield OS, and I'm having more problems with Kodi locking up when accessing my NAS than I did before.  So, I haven't even gotten to working with Last Viewed at this point.

Thanks for your help, though.
