RE: Arctic Horizon - phodiduddy - 2021-03-01

@jurialmunkey Thank you for updating this beautiful skin for matrix. Sorry if this has been addressed before but I've searched this thread and didn't find an answer.

1. Could you add a button somewhere on the now playing OSD for the playlist hotkey ("c" on the keyboard) for when I watch a tv series? I don't know of a way to do this from the shield remote.
2. Could you also set a way to toggle the music controls ("m" on the keyboard) for the shield remote? Currently I have to back all the way out or turn off the music altogether.

RE: Arctic Horizon - hertn - 2021-03-01

Am I the only one who uses Seren and Arctic Horizon and while seren widgets are loading the kodi app crashes to desktop. The only way around this is to open up settings really quick after opening Kodi and wait until all widgets have loaded. Then I can go back to the kodi home screen and no more crashing until next time the widgets load.

You certainly will be as we do NOT allow any add-ons that facilitate video piracy on this forum.
Familiarize yourself again with our forum rules (wiki) and piracy policy (wiki) before even mentioning them again.

I updated skin variables to 0.2.5 from jurials repository and disabled autoupdate (as is hot updated to 0.0.3 everytime from official Kodi repo). Still had this error.
I might try reinstall whole AH skin to check if this helps.

Couldn‘t edit my previous posts, therefore here‘s an update:
Ich rechecked my config and noticed that skin variables add on is automatically disabled when using v.0.2.5. and I’m not able to enable it as Kodi says that it‘s not compatible with this Kodi version.

V0.0.3 Is working with Kodi 19 for whatever reason. Any ideas?

I'm not having this problem with Skin Variables - I have auto-updates enabled, but it stays at v0.2.5.  My best guess is that it depends on which repo you initially installed the addon from.  I installed from jurialmunkey's repo.  If you initially installed from the Kodi repo, I think that might trigger the new setting from the the Addon Settings page to only install updates to official addons from official repos.  So if you haven't already, I would suggest completely uninstalling Skin Variables, and then install it fresh from jurialmunkey's repo.

About those updates.

There's a new setting on Kodi 19 that toggles between auto update add-ons from any repo, or from original source. It's the latter by default. I suggest you check that.

Thanks for this hint. I rechecked all of my configuration but I messed up everything without doing some drastic changes.

Here's the background:
I uninstalled AH and Skin Variables and the whole jurial repo.
I then readded Jurials repo from File manager source.

I then manually installed skin variables 0.2.5 and AH afterwards. Now AH isn't able to be installed as it says that dependencie xbmc.python v.2.2.6 cannot be resolved.
I'm not an expert but afaik xbmc.python is builtin within Kodi 19. So what would be the way to go to fix this?

If there's no easy way I can also wait and use standard skin for now, but I would prefer AH as that's my most favorite skin out here.

Thanks for all your support.

This btw fixed the automatic downgrade of my addons.
I‘m still stuck on the problem above

Have you install TheMovieDB Helper? Skin Variables and TheMovieDB Helper addon needs to be install first before installing AH.
Double check that you're using his correct repo: https://jurialmunkey.github.io/repository.jurialmunkey/repository.jurialmunkey-2.0.zip

Uninstalling Skin Variables and AH.
Exit Kodi
Launch Kodi, install Skin Variables and TheMovieDB Helper from Jurials repo.
Exit Kodi
Launch Kodi, install AH.

Tried and unfortunately not able to get in running still this stupid Python error. Also after Kodi reboot it downgrades addons again. I will downgrade to Kodi Leia again.

Seems migrating from leia is not working properly.
I got python 2 dependency errors on a lot addons until i deleted my addons.db. Then i could not play music
from music addons and eventually it crashes kodi. But only on Arctic Horizon skin. Just deleted addon data for skinshortcuts and arctic horizon and arctic horizon seems to work fine now. 🤔 Wonder what else odd behaviours i find till i start from scratch. 🤔 😀

Maybe try to freshly setup kodi on matrix? 🤷🏻‍♂️

RE: Arctic Horizon - Verequies - 2021-03-02

I was able to fix Skin Variables by uninstalling it and AH, then deleting everything in my Kodi profile directory '/addons/packages/'. After which installing the two addons from the repository yielded no issues. It seems it was a cache issue caused when upgrading to Matrix. Might want to put a note or something somewhere so people know that this is a potential issue when upgrading.

I ended up purging my whole kodi installation and installating Leia from scratch. 😂
Will upgrade to matrix on a later date

RE: Arctic Horizon - b'sketti - 2021-03-02

Thanks to suggestions in other responses, I solved my Skin Variables issue also, but in a shorthand way...
  1. Switch to default skin (Estuary, or any other skin), in order to...
  2. Disable Arctic Horizon skin addon, in order to...
  3. Uninstall Skin Variables addon
  4. Quit Kodi
  5. Delete any script.skinvariables-nnn.zip in profile directory > addons > packages
  6. Start Kodi
  7. Install Skin Variables addon (currently v0.2.5) from jurialmunkey's Alpha Repository
  8. Enable Arctic Horizon skin addon
  9. Switch to Arctic Horizon skin
Bada-bing, bada-boom!

RE: Arctic Horizon - louisefindlay23 - 2021-03-02

Thanks, jurialmunkey for another amazing skin. This is one of the few Matrix compatible skins available. I just have one or two questions:
  1. How can I have a menu option without hub/full-screen/home widgets? I tried selecting none/deleting them but the settings/full-screen random widget remain for Addons and Settings?
  2. Any chance of a custom RCB skin like Arctic Zephyr? Love the Arctic Zephyr skin and it would be great if there was an AH version.

Awesome glad it worked for you.

It seems we can cut this down a bit more as well - I have had to repeat the process on a number of systems and took the opportunity to try and reduce the amount of steps involved.
No need to uninstall, switch or disable anything, and you can keep Kodi running.
Here are the reduced steps (modified from yours):
  1. Delete any script.skinvariables-nnn.zip in profile directory > addons > packages
  2. If Kodi is not running, start Kodi
  3. Install Skin Variables addon (currently v0.2.5) from jurialmunkey's Alpha Repository
    1. You can ignore the message about it not being able to be uninstalled due to Arctic Horizon being enabled.
  4. Continue on as normal, no need to restart Kodi, but you can if you want to confirm that it works
