RE: [released] Official XBMC Remote for iOS - Geeba - 2012-07-13

Just a quick question? I've installed the iPad app from the app store... I'm running eden on my Zbox, they're all on a flat network... all my android remotes work. but the iPad wont...

I've tried adding the details inputting them manually and doing the detection... still nothing..

Am I missing a setting that is needed different to the Android setup?

Enable control via HTTP. port 8080, password etc? :S

Am I setting up the wrong bit.... "New XBMC Server"? surely that is host?

pointers appreciated.

@Geeba, can you try from the ipad safari to connect to xbmc with the same information used in the app:

http://<username>:<password>@<xbmc_ip>:<xbmc_port>

and see if the ipad connects to the xbmc web interface?

EDIT: yes, "New XBMC Server" is the right place where put the host informations.

I don't know if it is possibile. For Eden, what I'm using now is the http api command SendKey ( http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Web_Server_HTTP_API#Commands_that_Generate_Actions ) and adding 0xF100 to the app button code, according to the documentation. What I'm thinking is to see if I can detect if we are in a virtual keyboard view or not, so I can decide for adding 0xF100 or not. I need to make tests. So maybe is not necessary to know the user keyboard.xml because I'm sending the button code.

Hi Joe, really appreciate the help... Yeah tried that... Works like a champ!! But it does flash up in the corner "connection to server lost" yet it works Confused

RE: [released] Official XBMC Remote for iOS - joethefox - 2012-07-13

hum, that's strange. Surely the iPad wifi connection to the router seems good (no?), but have you ever tried a router reboot? just to see if there are wifi communication issue. Second, there are firewalls configured that can block connections to the xbmc http port?

RE: [released] Official XBMC Remote for iOS - Geeba - 2012-07-13

Really odd... I disabled the firewall, and it connected?!?! Re enabled it and it still works! But if I press "movies" it appears to force close... Back to the homescreen Sad

RE: [released] Official XBMC Remote for iOS - joethefox - 2012-07-13

that's another issue. Do you have movies without titles? If yes, this issue has been solved with the next release 1.1.4.

RE: [released] Official XBMC Remote for iOS - Geeba - 2012-07-13

Yep exactly that.... Loadsa ######.tbn movies listed on the left....

RE: [released] Official XBMC Remote for iOS - dracula - 2012-07-14

Cool, a 'hide watched' filter is on my wishlist as well.

Are gesture controls on the TODO list? To my own surprise this was a really convenient way to control xbmc with some webui's and xbmc commander.

And will the progress bar that is showing in the center area while playing a movie also be able to *seek* to a time position? That would be a bit more elegant than skipping +10min or +30sec.

RE: [released] Official XBMC Remote for iOS - kricker - 2012-07-14

Gesture controls are some JoetheFox and I have just started dscussing. He has a rather long user wanted feature list at the moment. Priority for that may not be so high, but I'm starting to think he is more machine than man. He cranks out the new versions rather quickly.

I've got a few things

browse movies by posters instead of poster + name
when it plays the next queue video it goes back to the main screen and it sits ontop while the video plays
button to tell XBMC to scan for new content or have a macro menu where you can make short cut commands
cache thumbnails so you can look through your library when your offline (great when your out and looking to buy something but unsure if you already have it or to show off to your friends)
being able to use to progress bar to seek to a place instead of skipping forward/back

RE: [released] Official XBMC Remote for iOS - Methias - 2012-07-17

Hi,

Thanks for the app. Got my Raspberry Pi running XBMC (v12) and and it works well from the ipad. I just have one query, is it possible to support resume functionality?

RE: [released] Official XBMC Remote for iOS - joethefox - 2012-07-17

Hello!
are you talking about resuming movie/tv show playback, resume from standby or else?

RE: [released] Official XBMC Remote for iOS - outofspace - 2012-07-18

Hello Joe

Your app is truly superb you made it nearly perfect when you added the ability to shutdown Smile

But to be absolutely perfect could enable tracks with a cue file to be added to the play list?
At the moment you can add separate MP3s and create a playlist that way but most of my music collection is in MP3 + Cue format and this would make a truly amazing feature. (At least I think so Smile)

Thanks for your hard work it is really appreciated, everyone I've shown the iPad app to is really amazed Big Grin
