I've tried uninstall and re-installing it as well as un-enabling it and re-enabling it within the skin settings but it no longer works. I've run out of ideas. Any thoughts?

XBMC froze a couple times here recently and I had to use ctl-alt-del to stop the application. That may have caused the problem. Any ideas on how to get it working again?

last time someone asked, he had the volume muted in xbmc,
so it could be something silly like that ;-)

in case you can't figure it out:
1) enable debug logging in xbmc (settings > system > debugging)
2) restart xbmc
3) browse through your tv shows
4) upload logfile to xbmclogs.com and paste the url here

Thanks. Yeah it was the XBMC volume Smile

I never touch the XBMC volume, I didn't even realize it exists, I just pass through to my AVR and use those volume controls on my remote so not sure how it got changed, content was playing fine. But after your message I checked and noticed that the XBMC volume slider was too low for each show so sliding it up (+ on keyboard) allowed me to hear it again.

check the tv tunes settings. it has an option to lower the xbmc volume while it is playing tv tunes.

if xbmc freezes while tv tunes is active, the addon can't restore the volume to the original value.
as a result, the xbmc volume is too low on the next start of xbmc.

Thanks ronie.

I have had some freezes and a system crash so it sounds like it was probably the cause.

I'm noticing another major issue now. When I play movies they are now running slow and jerky with a fps of around 6 while the movie itself is 24. So something got corrupted.

Is it best to just do a full uninstall and reinstall of XBMC to fix this?

if xbmc crashes, there's a chance your guisettings.xml gets corrupted and xbmc will create a fresh one on restart.
this means all xbmc seetings will be reset to their deafaults (any customizations you've ever made are lost).

i'm not an expert on video problems, but i've read a few times jerky videos can be caused due to incorrect audio setup.
so you could check 'settings > system > audio output' to see if they match your setup.

Thanks you are a genius! Yeah I looked at my audio output settings and they were changed. I changed them back to WASAPI and playback is perfect again. I didn't realize I had lost all my settings. I'll go back through them and see what else may have changed.

So I have updated to 12.0 - but I unfortunately cannot seem to get an update. Under the add-ons menu, I am 'stuck' on 4.0.5. I cannot find any option to update to 5.0.0 for Frodo. Has anyone else run into this?

Edit: I should also add that I have spent an hour or so on google, reading this forum and check the FAQ. My next step was going to be trying more destructive options... Such as Uninstalling Transparency 4.0.5 in hopes it will make 5.0.0 appear. But I would like to avoid that so I dont have to redo all my settings.

dozens and dozens have :-)

after upgrading to frodo, it takes some time before the frodo compatible addons will show up in xbmc.

to speed up the process, highlight the xbmc.org addon repository and select 'force refresh' on the context menu.

Thanks Ronie! I was worried that it was something simple, clearly I have no patience. I appreciate the quick response, and I love the Transparency skin and am very happy that you continue to develop it! Thanks a lot!

ronie, have you given any more thought to adding time remaining to the main?

The code here from jpf55 works perfectly except the fix that is needed for long filenames in fileview as per my last post there.

Thanks for the great skin

not much tbh. the only thing i can think is
there are already 5 time indicators on the video osd,
adding a 6th one is not an option.

Hi Ronie,
Many of us work use XBMC and in particular we all use the transparency skin because of its amazing eye candy and sheer versatility.
We were discussing an idea that has the potential of looking pretty wicked on the screen and that is an extension to the revolving CD using cdart.
The idea we had was that there was an option to have the revolving CD in the centre of the screen, almost filling the screen, looking a bit like the old vertical 12" laser disk players.
It could have the artist fanart behind the spinning disc or alternatively, there could be visualizations behind the disk as well or instead of the artist fanart.
Don't know what you think of this idea, or even if it would be possible, but we all thought it would look pretty amazing eye candy when playing music, so thought we'd drop you a line.
Thanks for an amazing skin, it really is awesome. Smile

No problem. Takes a minute for me to add it myself so it's no big deal.
Would you mind pointing me in the right direction for this fix? http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=109659&page=3

change the width of the videoplayer.title label.
should be line 150 in DialogFullScreenInfo.xml
