fekker Wrote:It's does what's called a mid center fixed scale.. I'm trying to get it to work similar to the movies fanart, but with new methods that will allow me to remove the pixel by pixel alpha blending from movies icons to speed it up.

The new download method is neat in that you can see speed and amount completed and is nice for gui feedback, but it's limited and has some things I don't like about it. There's a different downloader in the works, but i'm having issues with that one that may cause me to ditch it and go back to a wget wrapper idea.

The company data could be pulled and stored and put into a drop down... please add a feature request for that one.

In the interm, clicking on the IMDB ID: text will open IMDB's page for the movie your viewing. Clicking on trailer (bottom left of the screen) will search apple movie trailers for a trailer as well. I can also hyperlink the company label to open the imdb company page if that's helpfull.

To ignore years from folder names, check the setting to Ingore <%year%> under the settings tab.. the name filters are string matches and not regular expressions.. although it would be easy enough to change those to accept expressions or add another field just for expressions to strip out.

Feature request added. I think DJH will like that, seeing as how Stark is going to have all the studio icons. I asked about what specific studios are going to be supported, maybe when we know this the program could automatically pick a supported/recognized studio? Either way, the drop-down list would be a very nice touch. Big Grin

I do like the speed info about the downloads, but I don't like waiting to get at the data until after everything is downloaded. I space out easily, so once I click the moviename, it's nice to be able to get at the info ASAP before I forget what I was after. Big Grin

Fekker,
Did you change anything significant? I'm having a problem with the latest build, using Vista x64. Seems whenever I click on a movie to scrape it starts to scrape and then I get a popup stating Movie Info Plus has stopped working.

make sure <INSTALL DIR>\3rdparty\wget\wget.exe exists.. I changed the download to fail back to wget if the download stream is sent a server side reset.

also, make sure the \temp\tvdb\everything folder exists.. C:\Program Files\movieinfoplus\temp\tvdb\everything

I thought I fixed that second issue, but it appears i didn't

I did test under wine, and it does work for the most part.. posters are not showing up again under wine, i'll get that sorted out

Also, had a buddy test it under OSX and wine, it works!

Something's amiss with the fanart scraping. I just added the movie "Yes Man", and it scrapes 0 fanart. There was one already on TMDB, and another that I just created. Neither show up.

checking.. it didn't have it's imdbid set .. that's why it's not pulling the data .. i added it, when it shows up on the themoviedb.org site by searching for imdb id it'll be available via it's api, meaning MIP will grab the data

I'll keep that in mind when adding new movies. Big Grin

I'm also getting blank plots in my .nfo files...what about copying the plot outline to plot if none exists?

- boasist - 2009-01-12

working good on 64 bit vista for me as far as movies are concerned.

Probably not related, yet I get an error in banner read when loading my tv shows.

Thanks for the excellent app.

make sure the <install directory>\temp\tvdb\everything folder exists..
C:\Program Files\movieinfoplus\temp\tvdb\everything

This will be fixed in the next release, handled by the installer itself.

easy enough to do, please add a feature request and I'll make it an optional item in the settings.

Hi,

Sorry, i didn't explaing clear enough.

My setup is:

G:\PUBLIC\Movies\A History of Violence (2005)
G:\PUBLIC\Movies\A History of Violence (2005)\A History of Violence (2005).avi
G:\PUBLIC\Movies\A History of Violence (2005)\A History of Violence (2005).tbn
G:\PUBLIC\Movies\A History of Violence (2005)\A History of Violence (2005).nfo

etc

For your program to pick up my already scraped info, the files have to be called:
A History of Violence.avi
A History of Violence.tbn

You have option to ignore year in folder name. This is not what I need.
Shouldn't your program just search for FOO.avi, FOO.tbn, FOO.nfo?
Instead of (IMDB title).avi?

- matthuisman - 2009-01-12

Ok, i think the problem is:
If you unselect IGNORE (YEAR), it gets rid of the brackets in the year:
So:
G:\PUBLIC\Movies\A History of Violence (2005)
it looks for:

G:\PUBLIC\Movies\A History of Violence (2005)\A History of Violence 2005.avi
not:
G:\PUBLIC\Movies\A History of Violence (2005)\A History of Violence (2005).avi
because if i renamed my avi and removed the brackets, it worked fine Big Grin

Seems like that may be a bug Big Grin

And WHY does it start downloading images in DISPLAY mode?
I would like a mode where i can quickly view movies and not have 2 download images to do that...?

- gyrene2083 - 2009-01-12

I tried everything possible, and couldn't get the latest build working, so I went back to the previous one and I am having no problems. It's weird because all of the other beta versions worked without a hitch. This one is the only build to give me a problem.

Yup, that's a bug.. It seems I'm still stripping out the brackets during the name clean function.

Seems like that may be a bug Big Grin

Display mode should not be downloading anything, but it seems to be doing so for tmdb posters, i'll sort that out as well.

I'll post up a patch version of just the .exe file for you to extract to your already installed location to see if it's an installer issue or something failing within the app.

really fixes missing default folder issue for tv shows
fixes issue with ( ) being striped from movie foldernames when it should not be

TV Show Help - nugentgl - 2009-01-12

I think I understand the Movie side of MIP now so I moved on to the TV Show side. Everythings is very straight forward except for thing, resetting the TV Show database (for lack of a better term). For example,

I used a test directory with three shows in it: Lost, Justice League and Dungeons & Dragons (1983).

Upon the very first Load TV Shows, it found all three shows, except it gave me an error everytime I tried to look at the D&D show. The error stated that it didn't like the '&' character, so I renamed it Dungeons and Dragons (1983), went to 'program files (x86)\mip\temp\tvdb' and deleted the all xml files with Dungeons & Dragons as the name. Then I restarted MIP and Load TV Shows, but it didn't find Dungeons and Dragons. I then removed the root folder from folder selection, closed MIP, restarted MIP, added the root tv show folder, and chose Load TV Shows. It still will not find Dungeons and Dragons. What do I need to do to completely reset MIP's TV Show database?

FYI, once I removed the root tv show folder, I went into each tv show directory structure and removed all nfo, tbn, jpg, etc, files just in case.

As a side question that somewhat relates, is there a way to add only individual tv show folders instead of the entire root folder (similar to MC)? I have some tv show folders that will not scrape at all so I have created custom nfo files for them to show up in XBMC. For example, I have random National Geographic and Discovery Channel shows that won't scrape but I wanted them to show up in my TV Shows Library.
