RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [v3.6 - 2014/12/28] - Matt Devo - 2014-12-28 (2014-12-28, 21:45)Cubbies2166 Wrote: I've tried to set up my Asus Chromebox using the script to dual boot ChromeOS and Ubuntu. I've used the scripts and everything seems to have gone through fine, but when I try and boot Ubuntu all I get is a black screen. I've tried two different TVs thinking maybe it was a display issue, but both had the same black screen. I'll look into this, possible some of the changes I made in 3.5 broke something but I tested it before release. Download tar. Shift to .update/ on htpc. Reboot. Read the reply from Frisch. He is a developer and knows. Usually you can SFTP to the Chromebox via an FPT app that supports the protocol. .update folder is inside the /Storage, and you need to extract the 4 files from the TAR archive, and copy them over. When restarting, the system updates itself. But you should not do it transitioning to KODI, as there are lot of changes. The best way to do it is to make a bootable OpenELEC USB stick, boot from it, do a quick install. If you want the old setup and folders and all, including addons, do an OpenELEC backup, make sure to COPY that file from the backup folder in storage to your computer. After installing Kodi, you can restore the backup. Frisch, is that correct? Or do you mean something else by doing a database export and import? Great work guys! Thanks a lot. What you described is no different than doing an in-place upgrade. (2014-12-28, 23:53)boostberry3g Wrote: Fritsch, I would like to use your advice and do a fresh install. I just got 3 PS3 remotes to control them, I see if I suspend the box and press the directional pad it will wake it. Is there anyway to power the box on or off with the PS3 remote? Is there any other way to configure the remote or is the default the way to go? But don't worry, your thanks are more than sufficient and I am glad it worked. RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [v3.6 - 2014/12/28] - nickr - 2014-12-29 Overscan and underscan is set on your TV, not in KODI. The setting is called different things by different manufacturers. LG is "Just Scan" - so what sort of TV are we talking? RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [v3.6 - 2014/12/28] - Matt Devo - 2014-12-29 but if your display has non-defeatable overscan (some older ones do, most current ones do not), then you can adjust in System/Video Output/Video Calibration. That affects all video output (so, the GUI too), not just video playback |
