Some addons have a "forced view" option of their own. Look for it and disable it.
Also the forced views option heaviliy depends on how the content is reported to Kodi.
If for example the addon reports the content as "files" to kodi while it is actually episodes it won't work.
But as I said, it happens even in kodi windows.
For example, in the System => Addons which should be always in "List" mode, sometimes it switches to "Big List 2" (Sometimes on my entry, sometimes when starting navigating between the items)

I am wondering if there is a way to sync up the posters used in the landscape widget view with the ones I use for my poster shift library view. I am guessing that the poster is pulled from the source of the file....local or an addon...and not from the library? Is there a way to have the landscape widget view use the library poster artwork? Thanks

Does this issue still occur with the latest new version (after the code rewrite) ?
I have changed a lot of code regarding this feature so it might be that I fixed it already.

The posters on the widgets use the artwork from the library so I'm not sure what you mean...
Maybe explain it with some screenshots ?

From Addons --> Look and Feel, install the Image resource addon "Language Flags"
Once installed you're all set. I forgot to include this in the skin settings as dependency so it didn't got installed automatically.
I have moved all image files out of the skin. This makes the skin footprint smaller which is much better when the skin gets updated on Kodi.
All optional images are now handled in so called image resource addons.

Strange that it didn't install by default. You did install/update the skin from the repo ?
EDIT: ah found it. Now fixed that it gets instaled by default
