RE: YouTube - PanicAndy - 2025-01-24 When using Kore, and the sendtokodi addon... the popup says: "To use this feature you must download an add-on: YouTube Would you like to download this add-on? YES/NO buttons RE: YouTube - CalebChambers - 2025-01-24 That add-on only plays the trailer for 5 seconds and then stops.. then I have to wait another 5 seconds for the trailer to load up again.. The trailer repeats the beginning 5 seconds over and over... Someone needs to create a YouTube add-on that uses website urls. So when you search up a trailer for a movie it would be the "title of the movie" and then "trailer" And it would use the default Kodi player. This YouTube add on worked 5 years ago ever since then it's been crap. Revert back to the way it was... That's the reason i think that API key and Oaut and Secret ID's must be renewed. RE: YouTube - PanicAndy - 2025-01-24 (2025-01-24, 20:43)jim_p Wrote: @PanicAndy I figured it out. The Kore app has a default setting to use the YouTube plugin in Kodi. I changed that and it works. Just VEEeeeerrryyy slowly. 20+ seconds to load an 8min video at 480p. And thats if I use the legacy youtube-dl for Kodi 18. If I use the new one for Kodi 19+... it does load at 1080p, but takes 40+ seconds. Has that been your experience? RE: YouTube - MoojMidge - 2025-01-25 @HTPC17 - providing a debug log is always better. Case in point things like this: (2025-01-22, 23:55)Patkino Wrote: "recieving 378498288... objects". This exact thing happens only on betas. (2025-01-24, 21:07)ApuCalypso Wrote: I get the "Receiving x of y objects" (usually something between 15 to 20 objects) with the "busy" spinner, which on the default theme is front and center and also more or less locks the UI. All of the objects are usually "received" pretty quickly (i.e. 15 of 15 received), but then I'm treated to around 1 to 5 minutes of watching the spinner until the listing of whatever I was opening is displayed. Without a debu log it is like going to a mechanic and telling them your car doesn't work, while your car is sitting in your garage at home... (2025-01-23, 16:13)DjDiabolik Wrote: are these new cpu loads that we now have using youtube harmful to our devices? The answer is no. However to anyone worried about their device spontaneously combusting because the CPU usage has increaased you can enable YouTube addon > Settings > Advanced > HTTP Server > Stream redirect .No support is offered for use of this setting, enable at your own risk. If you do end up get blocked again because you enabled this setting, too bad, but at least you can take some solace in knowing that your CPU usage will be much less because you won't be able to watch anything using this addon. Do not continue spamming these comments in this forum thread and on GitHub. First warning. Everyone else - please keep the discussions on topic. This is not the place for support discussions about other addons. However the account which holds the API keys is my primary google account and that is very much in use. All the API keys are also still in the YT plugin, i needed to put them in before because at some point it didn't work. Log is here. Tried to open folder of bookmarked channel at 00:45:17, first page of channel contents actually listed/displayed in GUI at 00:49:19. RE: YouTube - MoojMidge - 2025-01-25 @terrestrial - it has been mentioned a number of times in this thread, but you likely have setup the wrong type of OAuth credential. These used to be accepted year ago, but no longer are. https://github.com/anxdpanic/plugin.video.youtube/issues/439#issuecomment-150931901 see Step 10 for the part you are missing. @ApuCalypso - there is a massive slowdown in writing data to your device storage. You can try deleting the addon data cache, just in case there is some database corruption that may be causing the issue, but if you are using a SD card or similar I would suspect it is failing. To delete the database: YouTube addon > Settings > Maintenance > Delete data cache database

I created new OAUTH credentials with the type "desktop" and then got the invalid client 401 error when attempting to signin from the addon. As a note, my Rpi5 with active cooler has CPU temp leveling out at about 145F (63C) when playing video in this addon. This is well below the 80C point where the Rpi will start throttling CPU frequency. RE: YouTube - arsMOBILIS - 2025-01-25 Updated to 7.2 to overcome the "Confirm you're not a bot" message and the addon is running well again, but I hate that the "Refresh" option on the popup menu has been moved way down the list. I use it all the time, way more than any of the other options in the list. When it was the default option it was a couple of easy clicks on my TV remote which I could perform without even looking. Now I have to stop and step 3/4 of the way down the menu to refresh my subscription list. RE: YouTube - jim_p - 2025-01-25 @PanicAndy Let's say that the process has 2 steps. Step 1 is when sendtokodi receives the url, so it pops up a "resolving blablabla" notification and shows the loading animation of the skin. Once this is done, on step 2, the video starts playing and a notification shows up sayng "playing blablabla". All that takes ~10 seconds here, on a 3rd gen i5 laptop with 8gb of ram and on a 12Mbps internet connection. And it runs on a libreelec 9.2.x persistent installation, which due to kodi 18 and python2 uses youtube-dl and not yt-dlp. I think that it would be a bit faster on yt-dlp. @MoojMidge I started my weekend (that is at 6am on Saturday morning) by trying to log in from the addon. I went to the requested page, added the code, it passed google's verification and was added as a "youtube on tv" device. Then the addon asked me to do it again, so I did, and this time it could not continue because some other addon needs to be verified too! That other addon has youtube as a direct dependency and it does not even start if I remove or disable youtube. Tbh, I could not care less about that addon, so I will remove it later today. Do I have to do the process again? If not, is there a way to remove the newly added device and start over? I am on kodi since it was called xbmc and it was on version 9, I have been using the youtube addon since the addons first appeared on kodi and I had made my own api keys in 2017 for the first time. But I am amazed about how bad the api's stupidities have made the addon experience in the last couple of weeks! Not even a fresh installation of windows or ubuntu has annoyed me that much! RE: YouTube - MoojMidge - 2025-01-25 (2025-01-25, 03:12)arsMOBILIS Wrote: to refresh my subscription list. It is not moving back, but if you better describe exactly what what you are trying to do and why you need to refresh manually then it is likely this can be done automatically instead. @jim_p - I asked that you keep off topic discussions out of this thread. It is difficult enough to follow without people talking about the issues they are having with other addons. As the last comment about the use of alternative addons that are based on yt-dlp as an example - everyone is free to use whatever they want, but the reason people are also having problems with those other addons is because those addons suffer from exactly the same issue as this one (plus additional problems that remain unresolved in yt-dlp, but are resolved in this addon because of how this addon can act as a proxy to modify requests on the fly as you are streaming i.e. the cause of the higher CPU usage that you were complaining about). If you get blocked using those addons the only way to get unblocked is significantly more difficult and inconvenient to resolve than simply having to login. You have been warned, the choices are yours to make, and whatever people choose to use is is completely fine, just don't make it any more difficult to read through this thread. Regarding your questions about this addon - the first login for YouTube TV is actually not used for anything and is only there for testing because you are using a beta version. The second login is the one that is actually used by this addon and you need to complete it. Not sure what other addon you are referring to that uses this one as a dependency, but it is unlikely to be going through the OAuth authorisation flow itself. Just follow the instructions: https://github.com/anxdpanic/plugin.video.youtube/issues/439#issuecomment-150931901 You just need to complete this process once, you don't need to keep doing it for every device you use, but you do need to login on every device with which you use this addon. RE: YouTube - scott967 - 2025-01-25 Might have an issue with 7.2.0 beta 5 on Kodi 22. When I start Youtube plugin with PlayMedia from my plugin addon, if the video fails to play Youtube plugin seems to be sending a navigate back action to Kodi that's being routed to my plugin which then runs its router to load the previous folder. I'm thinking that action was intended to be handled by the Youtube plugin? Shouldn't be needed when called with PlayMedia. scott s. . RE: YouTube - MoojMidge - 2025-01-25 (2025-01-25, 07:35)scott967 Wrote: I'm thinking that action was intended to be handled by the Youtube plugin? Shouldn't be needed when called with PlayMedia. Can you get a debug log of your plugin routing, the subsequent PlayMedia call, the failure, the backwards history navigation, and your plugin routing again? The problem is that Kodi does not provide the correct window history when navigating in different contexts. If you are in a plugin directory then everything works, and a failure in creating a listing or playback leads to opening the base video window, which can then be redirected properly back to previous plugin directory. However if you are navigating from another window/dialog e.g. Favourites then Kodi actually reports that the url of the previous item in the window history is the same as the currently requested url. As a result I added a fallback to just calling Action(Back) , but will obviously need to add additional checks before going down that fallback route.
RE: YouTube - Luterin - 2025-01-25 I have 2 issues, but the main one is that when I press Playlists I get a "Youtube error" using v7.2.0+beta.4: https://paste.kodi.tv/bomajaqaxu.kodi It worked fine yesterday, but gives an error today, so guess something changed in the API? Also I am having issues with the Watch Later function, and it does not accept the playlist I have created anymore, and instead uses some own local watch later, I think. It have been like this for some time, but I have gotten around it using the Playlists, but that is not working for me either currently. |
