RE: YouTube - ClaudeR - 2025-01-25 Hi guys For a few days, I can't play youtube videos from kore to kodi, I updated the plugin to 7.2.0 beta4 and the issue persist, the message is "Sign in to confirm you’re not a bot" I use this plugin for a long time, I have no google account and I don't plan to get one. Is it required now ? why is it possible to view the stream from a browser without login and not with the kodi plugin ? I understand that the issue is with google but is there any thing we can do ? is it final ? RE: YouTube - Mickeyluv - 2025-01-25 I've been using beta 4 for a few hours on my RP4 and the CPU utilisation doesn't seem to be a problem. I installed a thermal pad and moved the enclosure off the back of my warm TV onto an adjacent hifi speaker. I also removed the external SSD that was powered directly off the RP4 and will power that separately. I don't know if that contributed any additional heat, but it seemed to be a good idea to reduce stress on the regulator anyhow. RE: YouTube - jim_p - 2025-01-25 @MoojMidge First and foremost, thank you for finally giving an explanation on the high cpu usage issue. It is really sad that workarounds like this had to be made in order to have access to something that we all have made credentials for, and proves that they are not enough for google. I hope the proxy is not the reason for the high i/o too. Second, I do not support sendtokodi, but right now it is the only solution for watching youtue without credentials, even at that "format 18" on which the videos play. Other than that, the addon is known to kodi devs I assume, because its support was added to kore (and not the other way round) back in 2021! https://github.com/xbmc/Kore/releases/tag/v2.5.3 Third, the addon that I use and has youtube as a mandatory dependency is just an aggregator for some news channels on dailymotion and youtube. Instead of watching the news on the tv at night, i use that in the morning to watch... specific news that interest me. It is poorly written with ifs inside ifs inside ifs, it has almost no support from its dev, but it is not piracy related, do not worry. Fourth, tomorrow I will delete my keys, get new ones and start the process over. If I make the addon work on one device and then transfer the keys to another one, and log in from there too, will it work without pairing codes etc? RE: YouTube - mspL4 - 2025-01-25 "sendtokodi" worked for me so that's my new YouTube Kodi Addon I use NewPipe on my phone Kore app is installed on my phone & connected to my rpi4 Libreelec installation There's an option in Kore under "Settings" called "prefer sendtokodi addon", which I've toggled to "On" Uninstalled YouTube Kodi addon When selecting videos on Newpipe via my phone, select "Share" and select "Kore" then "Play on kodi" from the pop up & it sends to Kodi. Takes a few seconds admittedly but no registration & no ads! Thanks for all the help & suggestions I registered on this Forum just to post this reply/info/Thanks... RE: YouTube - terrestrial - 2025-01-25 (2025-01-25, 02:17)MoojMidge Wrote: @terrestrial - it has been mentioned a number of times in this thread, but you likely have setup the wrong type of OAuth credential. These used to be accepted year ago, but no longer are. https://github.com/anxdpanic/plugin.vide...-150931901 see Step 10 for the part you are missing. I have re made the api keys and deleted the old ones. I hope it did a good job. But now how do i get them in to the plugin? I have tried editting the api_keys.json file at /storage/.kodi/userdata/addon_data/plugin.video.youtube/ but it keeps coming back with the old keys in the interface.. I even deleted the file and it keeps coming back so what am i editting? I tried imputting the keys by hand but that is virtually impossible... So how do i get the keys in there if i cannot copy-paste them.? I even turned on the webinterface and the API settings page on in the youtube plugin settings however that does not work it shows "file not found" http://172.20.1.125:8080/youtube/api <edit> HOLY CRAP it worked... i had to use port 50152 and was able to copy-paste my api keys and had to sign in... but now comes the real question. Is it possible to still sign out and still watch? Because the stuff i watch in kodi does normally not affect the recommendations i get in the normal chrome youtube site... I would like to keep them seperate. RE: YouTube - kaminix - 2025-01-25 Hi, I just got newer API credentials set up using the 'tv input and limited devices'. Before I try to sign in using these new credential's could someone confirm how the device code is typed in. Here's an example device code: JKL-STU-WXYZ do you all type it in exactly like this with the dashes, do you type in with just empty space between each set of letters or do you type it all in as one without any spaces or dashes? Just want to confirm what has worked successfully for those who have succeeded LOL. Thank you RE: YouTube - terrestrial - 2025-01-25 (2025-01-25, 17:13)kaminix Wrote: Hi, I just got newer API credentials set up using the 'tv input and limited devices'. Thank you RE: YouTube - Sittich - 2025-01-25 I wrote it in my case consecutively, without hyphens, without spaces, and even all in lowercase. The hyphens are only meant for us humans to provide a better memory aid while typing and to avoid reading errors. For this reason, the codes are presented in blocks that are separated by hyphens. RE: YouTube - arsMOBILIS - 2025-01-25 (2025-01-25, 07:16)MoojMidge Wrote:Mostly because when I return to the YouTube addon after using other addons it almost always still shows the My Subscriptions list as it was when I switched to the other addon, even if I've been gone a long time (hours even). I have to refresh to get the newer videos which have appeared in my feed since then. Also, sometimes the list reverts after a video finishes to only what it showed before a previous refresh and I have to refresh it again to get the newer videos back. In many cases the video I just watched is one of the ones that have disappeared off the top of the list till refreshed again.(2025-01-25, 03:12)arsMOBILIS Wrote: to refresh my subscription list. RE: YouTube - otinley - 2025-01-25 ClaudeR, Get a new API and register your device, it takes 5 minutes. If you don't, YT will no longer work in Kodi. RE: YouTube - Sittich - 2025-01-25 Yes, it is now required to provide a Google account in order to use API keys, as Google has recently started asking who belongs to its testers that have access to the Developer API keys. I see the danger that some Google accounts could be suspended if they believe they are violating community guidelines. This particularly affects users who, as No-Premium users, permanently watch YouTube videos without ads. A suspension on the main account can have serious consequences. There would be no access to photos taken with the phone, phone contacts, since these are also synchronized with Google's servers. All purchased apps would also be at risk. They can now track in detail which account user is doing this. Therefore, I recommend creating a separate Google account for using KODI in conjunction with the YouTube add-on. I won't sign in with google as I value my privacy and I don't wan't google to track me more than it is now. I will delete the plugin and won't play on the big screen, that's sad but simple. Althrough, perhaps I'll find others ways to play videos through a fullscreen browser windows on top of kodi, research needed... I respond to myself for thoses who don't wan't to login to youtube just to play a video... this is the solution : 1 - get rid of youtube plugin add-on ![]() 2 - download another plugin : https://github.com/firsttris/plugin.video.sendtokodi direct link as of today : https://github.com/firsttris/plugin.video.sendtokodi/archive/refs/tags/v0.9.815.zip 3 - copy the dowloaded file to kodi device and install the extension from zip file 4 - optional : if you use KORE to send youtube links to kodi, in KORE, go to settings and activate : prefer SendToKodi addon 5 - send your links from your phone / pc as before. No hassle, works great ! just tested PS: added advantage over anxdpanic / plugin.video.youtube : could now play shorts videos, never worked before for me RE: YouTube - bestboy - 2025-01-25 I did give the SendToKodi addon a try. In general it worked ok, but I was not able to get steams in 4k. With the old youtube-dl backend it only ever produced 480p steams. With the newer yt-dlp backend it did better and produced 1080p streams, but channels with 4k videos played as 480p, too. So, automatic stream selection was not great. And there is currently no possibility to do manual stream/resolution selection. So, I did look further for a solution and found another approach that seems to work fine for me. I ditched Kodi altogether and switched to MPV, which is technically a way better player. I added mpv-remote-node as a web interface to the MPV player and use the MPV-remote android app on the phone as a remote to connect to it. Works great. However, for now, I prefer to keep kodi for playing local files and tv streams. It would be a very solution IF we could superpose mpv video stream over kodi screen or pipe directly to kodi. |
