i have exactly the same problem as max.
i'm running a small hard drive, with an old messiahx modchip on a 1.0 xbox.

xbmc 12th october version freezes just after evox launch screen, though 7th october one started fine.
i have tried to delete face008 in udata an tdata folders, without any success.
any clue ?

thanks for your help

try shutdown, physicaly disconnect you network cable and bootup without network cable connected (known evox bug)

the build from 10-16 works !

maybe this line from the nfo is the reason... ?

Quote:oct 16th 2003 unofficial xbmc build

the default.xbe is retail-patched in this build for people with very old modchips.

i had that problem until i installed the oct 13th build and used the included config.xml.

here's what i did

1. empty tdata\0face007 and udata\0face007 folders completely
2. blow away the xbmp folder contents
3. copy the new xbmp files
4. examine the config.xml contents:
-i went static on the address, subnet and gateway
<address>192.168.0.4</address>
<subnet>255.255.255.0</subnet>
<gateway>192.168.0.1</gateway>
-i disabled the nameserver just in case it was giving me grief.
<nameserver*>192.168.0.1</nameserver*>
-i added the line:
<home>f:\apps\xbmp</home>

i have the startup problem if my xbox is set to 19:9 (pal). xbmc is set to 4:3 by default. so i first have to set mx xbox (in the ms dash) to 4:3, start xbmc and set it to 16:9 in the setings screen. then reboot, chnage the xbox to 16:9 in the ms das again and start xbmc. having fun. joy!!
