What are the permissions for your storage folders you specified in your MythTV backend? I believe they need to be 777.

First, I encountered the diagnostic "couldn't read first 2048 bytes".
Then, I had a message to the effect that the device (tuner) is busy when trying to watch live TV using the frontend on the server.

I somehow fixed these after playing around a bit (including unplugging and reinserting the USB tuner).

After this, I had some limited success. I then found that I could configure LiveTV in Kodi/MythTV, and watch Live TV.

If I watched a TV channel throught the frontend on the server, I was able to view the same channel on Kodi, and pause, stop, rewind, fast forward. While watching LiveTV in Koki, if I changed the TV channel through the server frontend, the first show continued to be displayed, but if, in Kodi, I selected the new show playing on the second channel , the new show would play but I wouldn't be able to go back to the first show without changing the channel on the frontend on the server.

In other words, I can view Live TV on Kodi, but I can't select a channel on Kodi, only using the frontend on the server. This behavior seems consistent with the identification of the localhost in the log.

I also still have no access to the PVR guide. Could you explain where to find and how to use the addon keymap editor. The remote is a simple remote for the Fire TV stick.

Still seems weird to me that kodi is showing up as localhost in the log. I think that is where the issue lies. Maybe do a google search on opening up mythconverg to external ip's, it could be a permissions problem.

Keymap editor is available through the kodi repo settings>addons>install from repo>all repos>programs. Then use it to edit your keymap and change some key on your remote, global>Windows>open TV guide. Although if you have the livetv menu item now the guide should just be a submenu item so maybe not needed

The storage directory is /mythtv and ls -l shows

drwxrwxrwx mythtv mythtv

This looks OK to me, but thanks for the suggestion.

Still no guide as a submenu item on LiveTV.

I did successfully add the Keymap editor, and reprogrammed one of the keys on the Fire TV stick remote (the option key) to show the guide. It worked! I am able to watch live TV, and select, record, and delete recorded shows from the guide. Thanks for your help.

So the functionality is there, but it would be even better if the guide was available through the LiveTV menu. Any ideas?

That's really weird' it should have automatically added. What skin are you using? You could try switching skins and see if the menu items show up then

I'm using Estuary as the skin, apparently the default skin.

On the left hand side of the Main menu in Estuary, go down to "TV". What is shown on the right? Perhaps a screenshot would help us understand your problem.

The main menu shows:
Movies
TV shows
Music
Music videos
Radio
Add-ons
Pictures
Videos

Under TV shows, the right side shows:
Categories (subheadings Genres, Title, Year, In progress TV shows, and a couple of other items)
Genres (Talk Show)
Studios (Syndication)

Under Videos, the right side shows:
Categories (TV shows, Files, Playlists, Video add-ons)
Media sources (UPnP Servers (Auto-Discover), LiveTV)

I tried posting some photos of the TV screen, but that didn't work.
