Your .old.log is the useful one.

Your issue is item 1d here... https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=336969

Well that took care of the scraping problem. Thank you very much. In fact, I think I just enabled that the other day, and I have read that page on scraping issues before. They say when one gets older the memory goes.

Still no sign of things removing themselves from their sets.

RE: Movies remove themselves from movie sets - appropriate - 2021-01-04

It didn't take long, and I have only found one movie set broken as I haven't looked for others. For example Above the Law (a Steven Seagal movie) was in the set correctly yesterday, but today it isn't. Both log files were over 1 MB so they got the ufile treatment.

I spent a  morning last week working on the library. I had new files that when I figured out what they were, the film name and the file name were not the same. So I went through each and every entry matched file name to library name, and included the year (who knew that the file sources couldn't get the artifacts name right?). Many changes were made, and a few files got deleted as I would never watch them. Then I ran a clean database, which took the rest of the day.  Now, a week later we have at least one movie set resetting itself.

You have given me logs with almost a million lines in them... at least tell me what I am supposed to be looking for.

Sorry, check my edited post.

Looking though the Movie menu I also note that Black Mask and The Body gard from Beijing, both Jet Li movies are not where they should be. I know there are other Steven Seagal movies missing from the set and I bet there are other Jet Li movies missing. Still looking

My Samurai Collection and Musicals Collection also appear broken.

The only reason that movies would do that, is when the movie files are being renamed and rescraped and added as as a new file, or being placed in a different folder and scraped as new.
Otherwise, the movieset values are linked to movie entries, they are not magically lost once they are in the video database.

RE: Movies remove themselves from movie sets - appropriate - 2021-01-04

I haven't changed any folders, and all the renaming took place last week. The movie sets were fine yesterday afternoon, and other than a new TV show being added yesterday and a new season for another, both of which happened in the morning, there haven't been any changes. The sets were OK in the afternoon.

I do use Watchdog, which runs it's course whenever an addition or change is made, or after a reboot.

RE: Movies remove themselves from movie sets - Karellen - 2021-01-04

Ok, using your kodi.log...

Line 47420 shows a deletion event for service watchdog
Line 47427 shows sucessfully removed Above the Law from the database.
Line 75915 shows you scraping Above The Law into the library.

The above leads me to believe that the movie was deleted from the library by Service.Watchdog

Sorry, but I have never used Service.Watchdog so I have no idea what it is used for and what it does. (With over 1,000 add-ons in the repo, I can't know them all)

Best you contact the addon author to ask what is happening.

RE: Movies remove themselves from movie sets - appropriate - 2021-01-04

Thank you Karellen for your time and assistance. Watchdog may have issues. Apparently::
Quote:"Thanks for looking at it. Watchdog does work with LibreELEC 9.0.2, but anything after that just makes it go crazy. It is unfortunate that the original author gave up on it, "

I guess I will uninstall Watchdog and resetup AutoUpdate for an overnight run, and we will see if that helps in the future, that is after I do my movie sets over again.

Thanks again.

RE: Movies remove themselves from movie sets - Karellen - 2021-01-04

Ok, I just checked the service.watchdog thread, which you also did judging by your quote. Another member has reported the same issue as yours, so yes best to disable it. takoi has not been around for a few years, so not surprising the add-on is playing up.

@pkscout mentions here he might update the add-on so I will ping him in case this thread is of any use to him, but there is no response needed.

Just a side thought -- may be a case where exporting the library to separate files might help?  At least that way your set collections are saved in the nfo files.

Thank you for that. While it sure made a mess of my movie folders, I can live with that. The thing that impressed me the most was the creation of the NFO files. I have thought about doing that, but did no look forward to all the work. That the export function creates the NFO's is wonderful and should be expressed far more widely. Of course, I may just have missed that part when I read about making NFO's.

One quick question, the Wiki page was not clear on. If I export the watched state and/or resume points and then those change, would I have to do a full export (overwrite files) the next time, or will such changes be noted and those that have changed be updated, along with new content?

Any chance an export update could get added to the AutoUpdate addon?

There is no incremental or partial export. It is all or nothing. So if you run an Export then three minutes later clear the watched status of a few movies, then you need to run the export again to update the nfo files.

What work? It is only a few button presses.

I think/thought someone else is/was updating it. I did have a functioning update, but even with the most current watchdog (it's an outside set of code) the problem reported there persisted. It appears to be limited to that one OS. I was never able to reproduce it on Mac or Windows. So without submitting patches to watchdog (assuming anyone could figure out what the problem is) there isn't anything to be done on that side.
