Ninjamawwe:
A good idea is to tag everything correct, use tag & rename to make a folder.jpg for all your albums also embedd your covers in the tags.
This way you get a music collection that doesent need third party applications to display correctly. My collection displays perfect in allmost any mediaplayer/center Smile

The-Boxhead: All my music is tagged 'correctly' (atleast the id3 ver2 tags). However I dont like to embed the cover art in the music-files themselves. Good quality covers can be quite large, so I prefer to keep them outside the files themselves, however I do have a folder.jpg and *.front.jpg *.back.jgp, *cd.jpg in all album folders. That's why I got surprised that there are inconsistencies in the "artist" section in xbmc. It is really nice with the artist art being pulled from the scraper as well, it will be really nice if(when) support for fanart is added for music as well, this would make a killer music library Smile

well most albumcovers are around 500x500 pixels jpegs. They doesent add very much pr-file, and with today cheap storage i dont se a problem Wink
Offcourse if you use high-res covers the situation changes...

scanning 2500 albums to database and fetching fanart would be time consuming i guess. but would be cool to have fanart showing during partymode, but not during scrolling Smile

Maybe im oldschool but i like to have a collection wich is usabable, crossplatform and wich doesent rely on any specific application to work flawless. Wink

Well 95% of my album covers are high-res so I keep them outside of the files atm. I completely agree with you on the crossplatform comment, however adding support for showing custom fanart would not break that in any way as I see it. Just check the folder for a fanart.jpg if it's there use it otherwise do nothing Smile. Yeah if the scraper should download custom fanart for 2500 albums this would ofcourse take a while, but you can't say that scanning your 2500 albums is a fast process as it is now either Wink. Personally I would download the fanart outside of xbmc and prepare the album folder with a fanart.jpg that xbmc could pick up. I like having control over what pictures etc. gets displayed for my albums, movies and so on, instead of relying on the scraper picking the image that I like. Just my five cents.

agreed ! Smile

We could relabel it to "Fetch Album information when adding to library". That would make it a little more obvious perhaps?

- The-Boxhead - 2008-08-25

something like that gets my vote. as long as those settings only
are valid when your scanning to library its much more logic.

i know this tweaking seems like small stuff, but it's the sum of all this small stuff who gives the enduser a nice experience. the more obvious menus and settings are the better Smile

Done.

Solved the problem, the culprit was the album artist field, I had missed a few places on groups such as R.E.M. (missing dots etc). Thank you boxhead for suggesting mediamonkey's library, the view in there made it easy to spot the errors in my tags.
