I think you are experiencing a similar problem to what has been reported here... https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/issues/20512
But I have never seen the result to set a future date.

For some reason, the scraper is not finding the movie. Can you change scrapers on your Source. Use movie scraper No 7 ... https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=363391

Let me know if that works. If not, I have one more trick we can try.

...Hi, sorry I miss your reply yesterday, thanks for your time and advice!

bellow is the log using the python scraper (nr.7)...as with previous attempts, without a nfo file the video is not added to the catalog (future or correct year) ..the test is again with the Roundhay video, located at  smb://192.168.0.5/Videos2/

https://paste.kodi.tv/kaciculovu.kodi

what is that other trick?

That test was without a nfo file on the folder...

...but just as a reminder, without a nfo file for pre-1902 movies nothing happen on kodi 18.6 on my ubuntu either, no matter what scraper...the only difference is once a nfo exist on the folder, kodi 18.6 pickup correctly the year using the scraper nr.6....but keeping the same nfo file and the year is in the future on kodi 19.3 on androidtv..

The trouble is that you have tried scanning this movie so many times, that Kodi gives up because nothing has changed since the last time you tried...
VideoInfoScanner: Skipping dir 'smb://192.168.0.5/Videos2/Old.Collection.1888-1920/Roundhay Garden Scene (1888)/' due to no change (fasthash)

When you see "due to no change" it means Kodi is ignoring the folder. You need to force Kodi to see it again, so change the folder name or the video filename slightly and try scraping again.
And if the scraper cannot find the movie, you can force it to search using UniqueID's as shown here... https://kodi.wiki/view/Add-on:The_Movie_Database_Python#Search

But if it is the Arrow issue mentioned earlier, in the thread, there is not much we can do about that as it is a bug in external code.

...thank you, what you say make perfect sense, and sorry for the next newby question, but from where I get the "Select movie" window? (Image 1 , from  link)...long pressing in the movie and I get a popup menu, but can't find any option to "select movie", what I miss reading?, or from where I can call it?

...thanks again..

If you go to the movie in Videos>Files>Your Source, then press i on your keyboard.
Kodi will try to scrape the movie.
A pop up box appears asking you to select the correct movie.
Click the Manual button to the right.

RE: Kodi Does Not Recognise pre-1902 production dates - buhochileno - 2022-06-09

..thank you for your patience...

I manage to get that window show up from the "Refresh" button on the info page for the movie, hope is the same one, I don't have keyboard on my androidtv box to press "i" (the USB port seems dead to to try an external one..), ..anyway..after pressing "refresh" I get a pop up message asking me to use the local file or to scrap the movie, choosing scrap I can get the window for entering the movie name and the "manual" button...Sadly when I use the tmdb or imdb codes kodi seems to try to search for the movie but returns to the same window where you enter the name (like it didn't find anything?)...yes I using the naming rules tmdb/...etc...

Weird enough if I enter the movie name in the manual search window, the correct movie show up (Roundhay Garden...) , but already with the incorrect future year!...is definitely a bug in my opinion, is not like it can't find the movie or nfo file been incorrect, is just that once it find it for some reason miss-read or miss-present the information to the UI layer..

Thanks and send me any ideas you have to try here, if there is anything that can help the bug track please let me know and I will provided..

Mauricio

Can you capture all that in a Debug Log and provide it. I want to see why TMDB/... does not work, and I want to see what the API returns for a date.

Yea, I agree that there is a problem.
I am pretty sure this won't be a quick fix. I can give you steps to fix it locally by editing the database.
Let me know if that is something you are willing to do.

...sorry for the delay..here is the log trying to do the manual scraping thing, first I try with the imdb code as tt.... but the search window come back as nothing been found, then entering the name I get results to manually select from (only 1 result), selecting the result I get the correct movie but already with a future year...

..Sure!...let's play with the database!, I will make some backups in the meantime ...please remember I using Kodi in an AndroidTV box so no keyboard but I have full access to the filesystem using eXplorer ..not sure if I can edit it in place or connect from my linux machine?...I have some experience with dbs and coding so it sounds fun!..

let me know

thanks!

Ok, the reason why the tt0392728 does not work for you is because you are using a different scraper. You are using the old XML TMDB movie scraper. The wiki page I gave you was for the newer Python TMDB movie scraper. The old scraper does not have that search feature.
That solves the search issue Smile

As for the wrong year, I spoke with one of the developers and he believes it is a problem in the "32bit wrapping" that is used by older and/or cheaper Android boxes. Nobody on the team has any 32 bit Android boxes, so they cannot confirm, replicate and find a solution.

So I'll go ahead and tell you how to edit the database.

The database is located in your Kodi data folder/Userdata/Databases/ folder... https://kodi.wiki/view/Kodi_data_folder
According to your log it is here... /storage/emulated/0/Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi/files/.kodi/userdata/

This is the MyVideos119.db structure for the Movies table... https://kodi.wiki/view/Databases/MyVideos#movie

The very last column in that table is Premiered
From there, you should be able to find your movie and change the 2024 to 1888.

You won't be able to do it from the Android box, so you will need to access it via your Linux pc.

FWIW, I use this program to edit the database... https://sqlitebrowser.org/

...just as a side note and kind of confirmation of the bug,.... I use the exact previous procedure to correct "X-Men First Class" been listed as "X-Men...35mm Special Edition...", I didn't knew about the manual scraping/selection thing, so I apply it to this case and can confirm that the function works on my androidtv box  + kodi at least with more recent movies..
