@Babyboomer
I just pushed v99.2.1
Please test and report back Smile Should be fixed

RE: YouTube for Trailers - Babyboomer - 2024-10-09

Thanks it’s working now.

RE: YouTube for Trailers - rudyamaro - 2024-10-12

Working for me.
Thanks!

RE: YouTube for Trailers - Babyboomer - 2024-10-19

Is it possible to add an option that when you click a movie it gives you a list of trailers for that movie to play.  Some of the default trailers are not proper trailers.  Thanks.

RE: YouTube for Trailers - matthuisman - 2024-10-20

That's outside of this addon. This uses the scraped trailer url stored in Kodi. You'd need to fix that url Smile not sure if that's possible..

RE: YouTube for Trailers - altern8tube - 2024-10-30

hi @matthuisman

first of all, just wanna say thank you for creating and sharing this add-on with the Kodi community. i had all but given up on using the official YouTube app to play trailers as it's been broken for a very long time. on a whim, i decided to google and see if there is any solution out there and stumbled upon your YouTube for Trailers add-on. it's EXACTLY what i've been looking for, just a simple and straightforward way to play trailers from the Info screen!

while there seems to be an issue with the add-on and Kodi 18 (with YouTube add-on ver 6.8.25 installed), i am thankful that it is still able to play the trailers by opening the external Android TV YouTube app.

i'm quite alright playing trailers externally on the YouTube app if the add-on doesn't support Kodi 18, but if there is something i can do to fix this do let me know.

just to share, apart from not being able to play trailers natively in Kodi i also get the error message below when trying to open the add-on Settings.

anyway, thanks again for the add-on (made my day) and keep up the great work! 🙏👍

As per it's release blog post

"Non-android yt-dlp playback requires Python3 (Kodi 19 Matrix and up)"

So, Kodi 18 will never be supported sorry.
I'll look into the settings error Smile

UPDATE:
Latest SlyGuy Common v0.85.37 should fix the settings error in Kodi 18

RE: YouTube for Trailers - altern8tube - 2024-10-31

thanks for the quick reply.

ah. my bad... totally missed that. 🤦‍♂️

i guess i'll eventually update to the latest Kodi build one day. in the meantime, more than happy to be able to redirect to the external YouTube app for trailers playback.

RE: YouTube for Trailers - matthuisman - 2024-10-31

oh, I see.
The addon actually gives a nice error about Python2 but due to the way the default settings are, it was just fallback to native app.

I have just pushed a new version that makes the logic more sensible.
When you first play on Kodi 18 on android - it will give error about Python 2 but also tell you that you can enable using the Android native app in settings.
Then you can go enable that with the knowledge about why the kodi implementation doesnt work Smile

The settings should also work now

The nimbus skin has an option to switch the default trailer source to MDBList. I was getting mostly trailers that were short clips, now I seem to be getting the official movie trailers.

Which trailer plugin are you using? I have the short clip problem using "Play Trailer" context.trailer from BigNoid. I think that uses scraped metadata for the url. I also see the IMDB Trailers addon is available as well but not sure if that integrates with library items.

RE: YouTube for Trailers - Thomas_AR - 2024-11-06

Is this addon going to work on Kodi 21 on Android?
Getting error Message

"The add-ons path is not valid anymore. If you are using favorites please delete the entry and create a new one from within the addon."

Any idea?
Thank you

RE: YouTube for Trailers - matthuisman - 2024-11-07

please always provide proper kodi debug log. saves a bunch of back and forth and will traceback to where the error is coming from

The answer though is YES. it should work on all Kodi versions.
It sounds like something is passing it arguments in a way its not expecting.
I can probably fix that, but need debug log
