I've been thinking about a pretty way to implement showing missing files, and I think I have a neat idea for that, I just hope I can get it to work. ^^

It's currently using official API's that are provided by the TVDB, TMDB and AniDB themselves, and one unofficial API for IMDb provided by http://www.imdbapi.com/
The possibility of using other sites and possibly HTML scraping may be available in a far, far of future, but for now we'll have to make do with the ones that are currently available.

It's bad behavior of the app to freeze... but the 503 error happens, possibly mostly when the site is overloaded with requests, or just unavailable for some reason.

Hey Marius,

About the 503 error, i think you should get an ok button in there that kills the retrieval process, so that you don't have to kill the app every time it happens.

Also, could you add the movie.tbn to the list of possible poster titles for movies? (movie.tbn, not <movie>.tbn, wich already exists.)

Cheers,

Zenshi.

Hmm....honestly, I'm not sure if you should even worry about handling episodes (for TV). As sick beard already handles episodes beautifully as is....

Not everyone uses sick beard though Wink

I don't worry too much, as episodes do get scraped even after using ViMM on TV shows, but it would be nice to see and possibly edit episode data, and for people who collect entire shows, to see if an episode is missing. ^^
And possibly, to rename and move episodes to a neater structure such as "Season##/e## - Episode Title", or something of the like.

If that one works with XBMC as well, I'll add it.

What would be nice is if ViMM would gracefully fallover to tmdb (or other scrapper) if imdb is not responding and continue. When all media was processed dialog with summary could be brought up and errors reported if previously encountered.

If/when autoscan in background gets implemented, it would be usefull to have toolbar button which could show this logs, so you know what was happening while you were not in front of pc.

Technically, it first checks TMDB even if you have the IMDb scrape enabled since the unofficial IMDB api doesn't release as much information as TMDB, it's used more as an extra scraper.
So if the IMDb scraper is unavailable, it'll still have scraped information from TMDb.

This + extra fanart (essential for skins like AEON) with images extraction + movies set + grid view (with images dimension) for fanarts and posters...

and ViMM will be as great as EMM. But it's a solid start and you look very motivated, so i'm very confident that i will definitely change EMM for ViMM at the end of the year Big Grin

+1 re: Sickbeard... Not everyone uses nor wants to use it.

Renaming Movie and TV Show files would be a great step toward file tidyness.

OK, I have a couple of movies that TMDB does not have listed but imdb does.

Problem is - when imdb is not available (503) app gets stuck and the only way out is to force-quit it.

If you register an account on TMDB, you can add any missing movies yourself. Wink
I'm adding some progress window close actions so that it shouldn't get 'stuck' as much, but I hope I can add a way to interact with the progress better so that I can add a cancel/close button on it.

I have an account and I added quite a bit. Problem is I'm maintaining a skin and 2 small children :-) so it's not always possible to play with TMDB.

Furthermore, there are films that I'm not planning to keep - I receive a DVD as a gift, rip it and put it on NAS. After watching - I mostly get rid of it.

Will progress dialog pop-up every time some of the scrappers are down? I mean what happens if I added 10 movies and press "fetch all" but some of the scrapers are not available ATM?

The progress dialog pops up because it's busy doing something, not so much because of scrapers being down, instead I believe I simply forgot to tell it to close when data is unavailable, I'll release a v0.5.1 update which should help with that.

- MariusTh86 - 2011-09-29

v0.5.1 29/09/2011
------------------
* [New] Added '.iso' to detectable movie file types.
* [New] Added support for movie.jpg and movie.tbn as poster names.
* [Dif] Clean out trailers.

I am getting the "An exception of class OutOfBoundsException was not handled. The application must shutdown." message but ONLY when I'm starting the application. I cannot do anything. I downloaded it last night it worked beautifully, cleaned up the movies great. Today when I got to launch it though, I get that error on startup. I uninstalled the program and then reinstalled it and same thing. Any suggestions?

EDIT :
Well I just realized there was a new build for it so I tried that and its working again !
