You know, I have tried so many different programs to clean up both the tags and filenames of my music files...it's ridiculous. You often never know which ones will actually work for what you want to do until you stumble across it by accident or somebody tells you about it.

hehe.. i know what you mean. mp3tag covers everything about mp3file naming, tagging, overwriting etc.. it's perfect.
but: it does not search for fanart
i'd love to see fanart support for music in xbmc. i know it's possible now, but skin creators have to add the new options to get it displayed. hopefully updates will follow. i'd like to stick with mediastream and focus.

Ok, I think I'm going a little bonkers here. I ran MIP on all my folders and even removed . and _ that I normally use for spaces. When I run the update library within XBMC it seems to create doubles of some either because I forget a ' in the folder name or a !. Now there are a few movies I have that have : in the title, but I can't create that as a folder because windows will not allow it. Do I have a setting set up incorrectly or something?
Heck it even says I have Dr Strange Love and Star Trek, but I don't even have those as a folder anywhere.
I spent 3hours cleaning things up and well I still have issues that I didn't think I'd have since I ran MIP and found the correct IMDB numbers, posters and fan art.
Maybe its a setting in XMBC?

Wait a minute. I ran the update all movie NFO's in MIP and reloaded my library and well things seem to be where they should be. Odd, but they seem to be fine. Of course this is on my windows XBMC so I guess time will tell when I try and use it on my Xbox later.

for me this would be a perfect program if
- it would read movie plot/info/etc. from themoviedb.org instead of imdb
- will allow to select the preferred language of the above like it does for tv shows
- would use the great image overlay feature for tv shows also
- wouldn't be so restrictive in how one has to organize his movies/shows (xbmc and i.e. media companion find your stuff no matter how you organized your directory structure)

If you scanned your library once before using MIP, you may have to delete your video database and do a total re-scan of all the .nfo's to get everything right. All the "update library" feature does is looks for changes in the hash of the movie folder. So if the filesize of the stuff in the folder doesn't change, XBMC won't see anything as being different.

1. I believe the reason it doesn't do this right now is because TMDB still has a lot more blank spots for movie info than IMDB. You'd wind up with a lot more missing info.

to be honest, i thought i was already scraping from tmdb.org but it was ofdb.de (my target is to have german descriptions) and so it is ofdb that is pretty well organized. my fault.
btw, fekker: count me on the portion of users that use your app on vista x64 with success.. though it does not safe any language selection i've made for tv shows - on next startup it is on english again.

I need a little help with the TV Show function. Not sure what's going on but I have it pointing to the following folder with subfolders;
\Anime\Naruto Shippuuden\
\Season 1
\Season 2
\Season 3
\Season 4
Now when I click on Load TV Show all I get is Season 2 Introduction, and then nothing. Also, I looked into the xml file and it's really not pulling anything. Where exactly is it supposed to be scraping from? is it tvdb?

Try changing the main folder to "Naruto Shippuden".

Okay gang...I've been doing some work over at the WIKI. Added a FAQ, instructions on formatting a fat32 drive to NTFS w/o data loss, and generally have been trying to friendly/pretty everything up. There are still sections missing, but I'll get to those. (instructions on full library update, for example) My biggest concern is that the info in the FAQ is correct and true.
I could use some input as to what else should be in the FAQ from the general users, as you guys are the ones asking questions.
@fekker, if you could go over the stuff, make sure I didn't get anything wrong and see if there's anything missing, that would be great.

Edit: Make that a long sec. I'm at my mother-in-law's machine, and surprisingly, she doesn't even have .net installed. Not to mention she might as well be on dialup. And she has a capslock key...grrr.

Okay...I'm using build 2400, xp home, dotnet 3.5.
Filesystem I made is as follows

Using this directory structure/filename setup, the program scans everything properly, all the way to the episode level...

I am using the lastest build to by the way on Vistax64
Ok I got it working now. I cleared out all the cache again, and this time I deleted the temp files. It's weird but it's working.
