just remember if you put the info into a .strm file and xbmc won't play it, neither will ptvl.
I would love to get it working in chtype9 haha but im just stumped. I saved the link from the plugin into favourites. which plays directly if i go into my favourites on xbmc and click it, yet when i cut that plugin link out of the context of favourites.xml into a strm or directly in the settings2.xml it no longer works. How do i get the correct link?

I think you are confusing using a pluggin link with the new chtype which parses a plugin. Read post 2
Yeah I know what the new chtype does. I have tried using the plugin link in internetTV and liveTV channel types yet i cant get it to work at all. I found a workaround was to use the plugin type to parse all the channels within the plugin as they are stored like any other media types in plugins and then exclude all but one which i wanted to dedicate to the channel. This worked perfectly with the first iteration of the directplugin chtype but with the new updates it no longer does :S
how did you have it working with "?mode=20" at the end of switch _2? must have been a happy mistake, because the chtype is programmed to treat anything after the plugin name as a directory to parse since i'm sure "?mode=20" is not the acutal name of the plugin directory... I think you should go back to post 2, read how chtype 15 works then make the proper changes. If it still doesn't work... you can send me a log.

BTW, if your doing all this just for 1 feed, you should really learn how to setup a chtype 9 channel since that's what it's designed for.
Finding the link is relative to your technical know how... easiest but lest accurate way is to favorite the link then open favorite.xml and use that link (editing the link may be required).
Most accurate but technical way is to query the plugin with json and use the link that is returned. Use http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=172734, once setup to your xbmcs ip, run xbmc then use this tool to query "files, getdirectory,
(plugin://pathnameofplugin). You will need to play around with it. I'm not offering support for it, so use the appropriate threads to post for help.

@Dec64, Double check that you actually updated your copy of PseudoTV Live. Your setting2 is correct. That error can only be generated by either old code or wrong setting2.

I did redownload/install it seems maybe i copied wrong way or the link wasnt updated. I just downloaded it again and updated and you're correct it now works. Thank you.
Would any of these changes solve the issues with chtype9 so i could use XML instead?

there is nothing wrong with chtype9... it works as it was designed. Just make sure you are using a link that works...

How do i create such a link. Adding the content via the plugin to favourites, then copying that link into the settings2.xml does not work. I tested the same process on the discovery channel plugin and that does not work either.

ah sorry i did not see your latest edit to that post. As said before tho iv tried the favourites.xml route and it didn't work for any plugin i tried. U mention it needs to be edited? What specifically..? All the edits i attempted still didn't work. I attempted the json route as suggested but that seems way above me. I have no idea what Ajax end points are or how to find out what mine is ect.
