This need lot of code, free time, coffe and lot of test to be sure before merge.
I'm sure @beatmasterrs will be happy to share this when everything is good .But It is not ready yet.

Just an other tiny things probably already in your list.
If someone listen music or radio. Then an other person want to be curious and navigate in Widget to see what is new.
The playing audio is cut when the trailer start
I don't know if you see what I mean ?
Not allow the trailer if there is playing audio source may be useful.

All those things I have also noticed and they bothered me. There will be so much situations, where a trailer should (not) start...
I will try to add a few options for this function, so everyone can choose the behaviour, that fits their needs
That's why I never really wanted to implement that, because a few things always bothered me. But I think if everything works out, I'm on the right track

If someone is willing to test a new simple version
Things, you need to know:
- limited full screen support
- trailers are only played when no media is playing
- (only) trailer stops when next element gets focus
- no trailer loop

I dont want to sound dumb but do I need YT addon to play the trailers ?

Yes, when setting is enabled in skin settings -> furniture -> Enable auto playing trailers in flix views

Couple of shows I have tried not quite correct but I assume they must be source issues not skin. The Walking Dead , trailer has sound only , no visual. Greys Anatomy , no trailer.

Please try the latest version, i had forgotten to clear the property when the main menu gets focus. Hopefully this works now:
