RE: Maximinimalism - Neroes - 2014-05-25

i seem to have found a rather wierd bug, i have a pulse eight adapter (cec) pluged into 2 systems (one runs windows 8.1 and has xbmc 13.0 the other openelec 4.0.2)
for some reason if the system is booted up with the maximinamalism skin, i can't open the peripherals in maximinamalism and in the standard skin the list is empty
if i boot up xbmc with the standard skin however the device shows up

the device works though regardless of what skin is on when booted

RE: Maximinimalism - f1real - 2014-05-25

Got it working. Toggling a few settings seemed to fix it. Thanks mate.

@f1real - Recent items are handled by the "skin widgets" addon (addons->services).. I wonder if resetting your profile has removed it. Can you check that it is installed and activated?

@srthimsen - that's annoying as I can't test that setup. I'll have a look in the PVR support section and see if I can't find out what is going on.

Agreed - strange. TV guide works perfectly on Android with the maximinimalism skin enabled.

RE: Maximinimalism - thedeadman - 2014-05-26

Heads up: V1.0.3 available on GIT now. XBMC repo update requested and will follow shortly.

Changelog:

- [FIXED] Media source dialog (thanks Keli)
- [MODIFIED] Movie duration added to library lists (thanks solbero)
- [NEW] Global search added to homescreen (thanks mpschr)
- [MODIFIED] Grid overlay removed from music visualisation
- [NEW] Option to switch off various home menu items now available (see skin options)
- [MODIFIED] Video debugging OSD revised (can't remember who pointed that one out, but thanks!)
- [MODIFIED] 'First aired' date added to episode info view (thanks Postdeath)
- [FIXED] Music videos and video-based music addons no longer redirect to video section.
- Various minor tweaks

@Neroes: Probably down to a missing dialog on my end. I'll add it in for the next update.

RE: Maximinimalism - Destaroyah - 2014-05-26

Registered for an account here just to thank you for such an excellent skin.
That new update just answered one of two things that would make this thing perfect. Hiding unused menu items just helps keep it nice and clean!
And re-reading the thread it seems like you'll soon be answering gripe #2 which is a programs menu item. Just checked the Retroplayer thread and it looks like it should be ready to roll out any day now.
Are you still planning on adding a games/programs button on the home screen once that's out?

RE: Maximinimalism - thedeadman - 2014-05-27

@Destaroyah,

Thanks mate, appreciated.

I'll add a programs menu item for the next update. You can get to programs through the settings menu at the moment if you've not already spotted that. Retroplayer support is still very much on my roadmap too - like you i'm waiting eagerly for Garbear to push the button :-)

thanks i love your skin, i use it on all 3 of my installations now

i sorta feel like a jerk but i found another nuisance bug
movies attached to tv-series always shows unwatched in the season select menu
they are listed as watched if you find them inside the all season "folder"
i'm guessing it tries to see how many episodes are unwatched, since there are none it doesn't list a number and simply leaves the "unwatched" text

ps. i would be overjoyed if you could add an show resumable to the hide watched toggle, it would come inhandy when locating what iso the next episode series is on

RE: Maximinimalism - Mozillion - 2014-05-27

Loving the skin a lot @thedeadman! Strong design principles and elegant, crips looks... I like it! Big Grin

Following up on the previous post, I too am having a bit of a hard time keeping track of what I am watching and what is next.
If "hide watched" is enabled for the , the episode count in the list of tv shows stays the same. I was expecting shows where I have only a few "unwatched" to report things like "1 episode" instead of the new "101 episodes".

Another thing: I have a folder of radio stream playlist files as a favourite (it was the way in Quartz to add stuff to the main menu), but I cannot seem to add it as a favourite in the music library.. it adds it, but when I click on it.. it disappear.

Finally, just wondering: do you prefer comments here, or do you prefer cleanly separated issues on Github?

Cheers!

RE: Maximinimalism - User 184778 - 2014-05-27

Just downloaded the latest update, thanks mate! I'm loving the search functionality. Keep up the good work.
This isn't a bug but when cleaning the video library to remove tv shows/movies that are no longer available, the message dialogue reads 'Unaivailable Source. What would you like to do with media items from q:\movies\movie_title' followed by two buttons 'yes' and 'no'.
I'm no language expert, but isn't something missing there? A 'Remove items from library' or a 'Delete entries' maybe?

RE: Maximinimalism - leefur - 2014-05-28

Finally a skin that I'd feel okay having my design clients see me use. Super, super lovely. I'd like to "donate", if there's a way.

My humble requests, to add to the din:

• A toggle to turn off the new search item (in the minimalist spirit I'd like options to turn off everything, including items in the sidebar; people I teach to use my XBMC will thank you!)
• A bit more contrast for the selected item (my wife's complaint, which I think is legit)
• As mentioned above, show # of new episodes if that's the view I'm looking at
• Make the "Latest" list scrollable (or some other way to show more than 4 TV shows / movies)

I probably have (and may post) other small tweak requests, but I love the ethos of your work and wouldn't want to munge that up. Keep up the active development! Love it.

(My contribution to the world of minimalism is the far-and-away most popular Alfred theme.)

I'm not sure XBMC can actually do this... Is there another skin that does it that I can work from?

@Mozillion
Thanks - I'll look into the hide watched function and see if I can't improve how the skin handles it. On the matter of adding favourites as a menu item... Not a trivial process and it's unlikely I can just port the code from Quartz. I'll see what I can do. Comments here or Github are both fine by me - whichever suits you.

Haha - yeah. Not something I can do anything about unfortunately. Comparing my code with Confluence's, I can only surmise that it's a bug with XBMC itself.

@leefur
High praise indeed - much appreciated :-) Nice work on Alfred BTW.

Quote:A toggle to turn off the new search item.
Yep - will do. I might also add a sort of kiosk view to remove some of the less frequently used sidebar items also (good suggestion - thanks!).

Quote:Make the "Latest" list scrollable (or some other way to show more than 4 TV shows / movies)
Yep, can do. There's a few things I want to improve on that section.

Quote:A bit more contrast for the selected item
Could I be cheeky and ask you for a hex colour value that you think would be appropriate?

RE: Maximinimalism - Marsup - 2014-05-28

I too am seeing the same thing as Mozillion, that is the number next to the TV series is probably the total number in the library, not the unwatched count.

If I may ask something as well, could you make the settings screen more transparent when adjusting subtitles offset ? It's hard to read subtitles that dark.

Fantastic skin otherwise, gets better every release Smile

RE: Maximinimalism - majkelospl - 2014-05-28

I found a problem with 3D mark, on some movies I have 3D mark but it is not working as 3D, on other skins there is properly only HD mark

i haven't seen any skins with this feature
i don't much about how you actually make skins, so i don't know if you have the option to make sql quarries
in this case the sql quarry it would be something like WHERE "resumeTimeInSecounds" != null
(my sql might be a bit rusty but it's somewhere along that line)

RE: Maximinimalism - thedeadman - 2014-05-29

Thanks all for detail on the unwatched counts - i'll fix that up.

@marsup: I'll see what I can do RE: subtitle offset. Subtitle handling in general needs some polish I feel.
@majkelospl: Sorry - handling 3D content isn't supported in Maximinimalism. I don't have access to a 3D setup so have no ability to test.

@Neroes - thanks for the screenshot, that should be an easy fix. Unfortunately the skinning engine does not allow for SQL queries (at least not directly), but there are a couple of other options I can try. Leave it with me, i'll see what can be done.
