It is very odd because it appears to be retrieving the correct file and passing to Kodi PlayMedia command.

yes 100% playable

What is the contents of the strm file saved to the library? Does its content match this:

Seems like a very odd way to deal with a resolvable url being used there.

not sure how to check this?

@jurialmunkey Please see above. As I said earlier when I minimalize Kodi in Shield TV I see a pop up on top of hime page of Android TV saying Playing movie, however when clicking on it nothing happens.

Just open the strm file that is saved in your library from the folder it is saved in using a text editor. Strm files are just text files with a link to a resolvable url.

I have 2 Emby files in Media Settings -> Video's. Both not accessable and created automatically by Emby Addon..

When I open context menu from Widget and press 'Play with Emby' everything is fine except for build in 'Play' button

Hi jurialmunkey,

at first I'd like to say: great skin - awesome work!
There are two things I would like to mention because I am unsure if this is a bug and / or included as a feature.

The first thing is when I click on Live TV (I choose the submenue as default action) and click on any item like EPG. If I go back I am on the home screen again and not in the submenue (as expected). Is this behavior wanted? From my point of view I have to click twice on "back" to reach the home screen, because perhaps I just want to reach the submenue.

Second question is: Is there any function to remove watched elements from the "recently added" widgets? I couldn't find it...

Again, great skin, will be my new "main" skin :-)

RE: Arctic Horizon - popcornemil - 2020-03-19

Nice work jurialmunkey. I love this setup!

And a somewhat (maybe unrelated) question.

If i use TMDB Helpers widget "Recommended for you", is it possible to just see my local movies stored on my disks?

Best Regards
Popcornemil

You could probably use one of the sections from Skin Helper Service Widgets for that.

Yeah I've noticed the Live TV return bug - definitely not intentional!
I'm not quite sure what is causing it at the moment though.

For recently added to only show unwatched then just make a Smart Playlist with the following rules and use it as the widget.
Order by Date Added
Sort Direction Descending
Play Count is 0

Love the new skin jurialmunkey, the simplicity is fantastic.

There are a few options I'd love to see from AZ2 if at all possible

1. Auto close OSD after certain amount of time
2. Numeric star ratings
3. The landscape widget view that used the backdrops with clearart on the bottom right (I reeeeally loved this widget view, I even changed a lot of my library art to match better with it)

Thanks for all your great work!

1. Not possible without SkinHelper which is not really being maintained and I don't want to add since TMDbHelper already achieves most of its functions. I haven't found a way yet to autoclose the osd without the aid of a script.
2. Some ratings options will be coming soon, including the numeric star rating.
3. I always found that landscape view to be too large and bulky. My intention is to have widget views match consistently with the library views, so a larger landscape widget is unlikely to be added.

RE: Arctic Horizon - YamYam - 2020-03-20

Hi there i have just downloaded this skin and it looks really good,  However, i have one suggestion.

When you click on the movie icon it would be good to have the film synopsis auto-scroll (image 3 view) instead of having to select it to read it all in the large expanded view that is not very nice.

How do you get image 3 layout based on your libary data only

(2020-02-15, 10:06)jurialmunkey Wrote: Introduction
This skin is intended to be simple. There are no selectable viewtypes. The focus is on doing one thing very well rather than trying to provide every possible customisation under the sun. The idea is to streamline the skin so that more time can be spent on having a more integrated and natural experience.

Download
The skin requires the latest version of my "TheMovieDb Helper" plugin. Please download and install it from my github before installing the skin (the version of TMDbHelper in Kodi repo is too old and lacks important features).

Open your library, and look at the items shown there.

@jurialmunkey I have to agree with @mahican I reallyyyyy miss the large landscape widget. It and poster are the only 2 widgets I use in AZ2. If it's about consistency and simplicity, it seems odd that the only 2 widget options for movies and shows are poster (which has no additional text) and small landscape (which has additional info appended to the bottom) It'd be nice to have 2 widget options with no text. I would include banner in that number but, it's semi functioning. It's always pixelated (which I know isn't the fault of the skin), feels super clunky in use and the auto scroll, with no way to disable after setting a time, makes it basically unusable... If theres a file I can modify to add large landscape back, please lmk, I'm more than happy to do that

For what it's worth, banner is only pixelated if you're not using high enough resolution (and the correct format) artwork.

The fact that there are only two styles makes it more consistent and simple... but I do agree that the banner aspect autoscrolling is a bit funky.

RE: Arctic Horizon - effe.rnr - 2020-03-20

do you have any plan when you bring up new views like list-view for example?

the current behavior works really well for movies and tv shoes, but for some addons like youtube the view isn't really suitable in my optionion

thx

It's about consistency with the library viewtypes.
Submenu view matches Base Folder view in library.
Square view matches albums / addons view in library
Landscape view matches episodes / artists view in library
Poster view matches movies / tvshows view in library

I understand the desire to have additional widgets with no text and I've definitely been considering how I might implement some additional styles. The problem is that I want to maintain consistency of vertical height in the widgets. I simply think that landscape widgets look too large with only three per row.

It's a shame that there isn't a standard artwork type with a different aspect like 4:3, as I think that could actually look quite good (i.e. same as landscape is now with 4 items but a full height artwork).

It's not a matter of just enabling some switch to "turn it on" and have the old version. The underlying code has changed significantly in many parts. I'm not interested in providing custom bespoke code for people - it's a complete waste of my time.

Tell me specifically where the views don't work and I'll consider changing it (as long as the addon is setting the correct content type to start with).

This skin will never have selectable viewtypes. The idea is that there is only one view type per content type. I'm not budging on that.

I've added an option in v0.1.23 to disable widget autoscrolling.

@YamYam - I've also added an option for plot autoscroll
