Milhouse wrote: Kodi 16 is now available in the official OpenELEC 7 beta release - closing thread.

Does that mean that the 4k features I asked about is in the official OE already?

EDIT:
OpenELEC-Generic.x86_64-7.0-Milhouse-20160226230133-#0226-g610e9bf.tar 27-Feb-2016 01:15 204M

Is that the last custom build for OpenELEC 7 with Kodi 16.x that includes these 4k features?

No. There is no EGL in all v16 versions out there. Wait for v17.

Is there a custom build available for me that's Kodi 16.x?

I'm running some kind of EGL build now, that's based on OpenELEC 6.0.3. That is Kodi 15 I think. Is there a OpenELEC 7 beta that's based on Kodi 16.x that includes EGL?

As said now 100 times: no.

Hi!

I'm testing with Kodi 17 nightly (I can't install fernet's build because I don't have libgnutls26, libgnutls28 and python-support, but I can't install these packages in xenial) and I used this test: http://www.spearsandmunsil.com/portfolio/choosing-a-color-space-2/

GPU at 0-255 (full), Kodi with "16-235" option enabled and the TV at 16-235.

All test is passed OK (no clipping, good BT709 space colour, etc.) except the "Ramps Clean" that it shows with banding:

But If a put all to 16-235 or all to 0-255 the "Ramps Clean" shows perfectly but ALL other things are wrong (clipping, no BT709, etc.). So I think is something related with the 16-235 Kodi option.

Another unusual thing is that the AVS709 black clipping test show me more reference black (until 10-11), with all in 0-255 or all in 16-235 the pattern flash only until the 17 bar.

Thanks again for the job.

EDIT: I installed libgnutls28-0-dev, python-support and libmsqlclient18 and now I can install fernet's build, but same result: banding on "ramps clean".

PS: Curiosly, If I play the test directly in the tv, same problem appear, so is nothing related to Kodi, sorry Smile

Press "PrintScreen" (kodi-send -a "TakeScreenshot") while it is on screen. And provide the Image somewhere (The original one, not something converted, please).

Don't wory fritsch, I can reproduce the two problems (flashing extra bars in the black clipping test and banding in "ramps clean") playing directly these test from the tv, so is not Kodi related Smile

This is what I wanted to tell you :-) After I got the TakeScreenshot :p

I managed to get to this stage:

sudo apt-get install ssh python-software-properties software-properties-common xorg xserver-xorg-legacy alsa-utils mesa-utils git-core librtmp1 lirc libmad0 lm-sensors libmpeg2-4 avahi-daemon libnfs8 libva1 vainfo i965-va-driver linux-firmware dbus-x11 udisks2 openbox pastebinit

After entering the command though I receive the error E: unable to locate package libva1

I don't know where to go from here.

Googled the error but didn't give me any clues that I could follow.

RE: Intel VAAPI howto with Krypton v17 based on Ubuntu 16.04 server - fritsch - 2016-04-26

That's not possible ... provide: apt-cache policy xserver-xorg-legacy and lsb_release -a

RE: Intel VAAPI howto with Krypton v17 based on Ubuntu 16.04 server - megema - 2016-04-26

I've managed to install Kodi v17 on sunday. It works better on 16.04 desktop compared to 14.04 desktop. Only one thing noticed, that was present on 14.04 too: freeze on Ubuntu splash screen while rebooting. While I couldn't install install Kodi last week, I didn't notice this behaviour. Syslog shows nothing suspicious, last line is rsyslogd exiting.

Anyone noticed this issue? I'll try to examine tonight under what circumstances does this occur.

This howto is about Ubuntu Server and provided as is. Please open a new topic as it seems Ubuntu specific and not kodi related.

I can only say that this is the result that I get and I have checked the accuracy of what I have typed.

Being relatively new to anything Linux and with this being the very first time that I have used the server version, I find myself unable to fathom how to get the information that you need.

When I use the apt-cache policy command it returns and long string of text but I do not know of a way to output this information.

I have attempted to use putty and ssh but to no avail and have to accept that my 75 year old brain is perhaps too old to get my head around something such as this and so will give up on this occasion.

Thanks for your assistance anyway.

Try:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install libva1 <- that's a "1" as in "one" not an "l" as in "Larissa"
