RE: Confluence Customizable Mod - whufclee - 2013-07-12

You're on fire, great work.

Quick question... I just updated and it works great but I've got some custom backgrounds that I want to use. I had them in the skin folder but they were deleted on the upgrade (don't worry I had them backed up!). Is there a way I can tell the skin to load default backgrounds from a specific location in the special:// directory? Reason I ask is I want to use this on multiple systems and don't want to have to manually browse to the location on every setup. If I could just set it to special://profile/whufclee_art/ or something like that it would be great. I'm happy to mess about with the code I'm just not sure where I should be looking. Cheers

RE: Confluence Customizable Mod - protocol77 - 2013-07-12

hi i am trying to add one of these to a custom submenu but they will not add i am trying to add the unwatched Episode preset as the default in progress takes me to the show level where it displays all shows i have not completely watched whereas i just want to display individual episodes i have not finished watching I also cannot seem to add a custom smart playlist as a main menu item as i tried it that way by creating a smart playlist to both display episodes only and also a playlist for my HD Movies (Resolution Greater Than 720p)

the playlists work if i directly go into them but they will not add and then show up on the main menu

RE: Confluence Customizable Mod - whufclee - 2013-07-12

Ok ignore my last comment, I've worked it out - it's not in the skin settings at all it's in guisettings.xml - doh! All working fine now... nothing to see here lol.

RE: Confluence Customizable Mod - thebearnecessit - 2013-07-12

mudislander - out of interest how come submenu item 6 is greyed out? have i missed a setting to enable them?
mudislander - can you point me in the right direction - i'd like to increase the time it takes to cycle through each global background image.
mudislander - can i make a request - i think it would be great to be able to remove the small text on the home screen under each addon icon. its impossible to read against most of my backgrounds and i have used icons that identify the addon anyway. hope ive explained that properly.

whufclee - can you tell me how you managed to setup guisettings.xml to show a specific backgrounds folder? also what kind of backgrounds are you using out of interest?

+1 on that..
As I am in the same boat..
Just getting this skin settled on the HTPC and Android ATV1200.
So every upgrade is a bit of work to reset folders correctly..

Which was answered and I didn't see..will have to look into that too..

RE: Confluence Customizable Mod - Mudislander - 2013-07-13

only just got up, so easy questions first Smile

(2013-07-12, 17:56)blondeshanks Wrote: Thanks for the quick answer

Also, just noticed that every one of my movies has a U, meaning Universal rated for a guess? This is for all my movies but when I check movie info the MPAA rating is showing correctly?

Any ideas why this may be?

Am in UK and using great britain as rating setting in options if this is required info...

Image Is a British rating. Mod looks for U, PG, 12A, 12, 15, R18, 18 in that order and shows the first found.

Use something like "Universal Movie Scraper" where you can tell it which rating system to use, this helps the Mod display the correct image. Don't need any prefix though just the letters mentioned above.

Interesting that you say the movie info shows correctly, so which views are only showing "U" - may be a bug lurking. Would also need to know what your Movie .nfo file says.

Out of interest on the USA setting mod looks for G, PG, PG-13, NC, R, Rated R

Easiest answer - Yep. Actually haven't looked at 1st post in a while, it also needs updating Smile

RE: Confluence Customizable Mod - jmh2002 - 2013-07-13

I know this isn't very much detail (just woke up too!) however when playing around last night I notice that a semi transparent 'ghost' (of what I think is the new low list view) seems to pop up for a moment when selecting an icon from a home page addon list. Thereafter it goes away and the addon opens per normal.

For submenu #6 either raise menu bar or hide power button. Otherwise not enough room on submenu bar.

Yep I can, you'll need to do some .xml editing if you've set the Move, TVShow or Concerts paths in the settings. edit the file "IncludesBackgroundBuilding.xml" and find the setting "<timeperimage>8000</timeperimage>" about 4 or 5 lines from the top & increase the 8000. That works for individual backgrounds on the Home Screen. Obviously any updates will overwrite your changes. If you're talking about a different area it will also probably be one of the other "<timeperimage>8000</timeperimage>" settings in the file further down.

If you've not set the paths above then the Mod cheats and uses the skin widgets script only showing random movies/TVShows/concerts fanart as a background instead of the whole widget thing. Don't think your system using this as cycling is really slow as per Random setting in script.skin.widgets

Will add option to hide addon names on home screen. BTW I agree with you are really hard to read at times

Think I've also seen it. Will check

Actually, it's my understanding that if you make you're own folder within the skin folders - it shouldn't get wiped on update. Seem to remember this from years back while looking into user genre backgrounds. Could be mistaken though, will have to try it out one day, or maybe someone has tried already and knows the answer.

RE: Confluence Customizable Mod - jmh2002 - 2013-07-13

One 'feature' I also noticed a while back which I thought I would mention:

When adding any item to Favourites, in order that it can then be selected and added to a SubMenu list, or an AddOn list, thereafter (ie: once it is already added on the SubMenu/AddOn list) the item can then be deleted from the Favourites without affecting any functionality (ie: it still works from the SubMenu/AddOn list).

This is incredibly useful, since it means these items (many if which become a permanent part of the home screen menus) need only to be added to Favourites temporarily, in order to get them into one of the other lists, and thereafter deleted, retaining a nice and tidy 'proper' favourites list. It's even more useful if you are using the Favourites widget, since none of these random items need to be seen there.

If this is by design, please ensure to keep it like this Smile Smile

To add you're own playlist to a submenu or main menu you need to use Playlist(Videos) - Second option down in right hand list in screenshot

It's not by design, it's from being lazy Big Grin However it is a nice "bug" and will leave it as is. You do know someone will complain about it though.

Re: Confluence Customizable Mod - blondeshanks - 2013-07-13

Thanks for the detailed answer regarding film ratings.

I use ember media manager to scrape my films so they all are scraped with UK: before the rating. EMM sets a MPAA rating and Certification(s) entry.

I checked all movie views, any which display the certification, display it as U.

If I click on movie information, it says MPAA rating: UK:18 for example

Could it might be the UK: bit throwing it off?

If you want, I can upload some screenshots or even a random .nfo file if you like?

Vicious circle, if people stopped asking for stuff, the updates would slow down Big Grin

Try make your own folder - may work. Actually might help some people if you guys post anything that does work eg advancedsettings.xml ?
Be careful editing guisettings.xml as it's an important file and in system memory if XBMC is running.

Definitely the UK, Mod's picking up the U. Can you set Ember to use a different or no prefix ?

Think that's everyone answered ? If not, sorry & please repost query

RE: Confluence Customizable Mod - Mudislander - 2013-07-13

Brain is starting to work now & have been thinking -

1. Some users seem to have problems with cryptic menu choices eg Playlist(Videos) Open to renaming suggestions - need to be short as not much room & some translations will be a lot longer.

2. Certification by country - Would it help to have user set a prefix to be ignored, as previous post prefix "UK" gets mistaken for "U" and some scrapers use a prefix of "Rating" which will get mistaken for "R"

Re: Confluence Customizable Mod - blondeshanks - 2013-07-13

Yes please Mudislander, I would love the rating option to ignore UK: as EMM adds this by default.

I could edit it out by hand but that would mean going through 350+ films. Even if i rescrape all films, I don't think EMM has an option not to add UK: before the rating.

Hope this isn't too much work for you, if you decide to undertake it that is...
