All went well did everything correctly,followed instructions problem is now bios only show booting from USB and nothing happens (I did create openelec) using the tool.
Maybe I should re-do it on my windows laptop? hopefully I didn't screw up anything
EDIT: after pressing random buttons on my keyboard I was able to select boot from USB lol
and wow the box works in 4K right away on my tv

I'd redo the USB on another machine. THE Chromebox is picky about USB sticks, known issue listed in wiki

I've had luck burning the iso image to a DVD and booting off a USB DVD drive.

confluence has shortcut to openelec settings I use reFOCUS and I can't find where the openelec shortcut is.

I checked for updates on openelec I hit update and it showed there is new update availiable but not sure how to install it... I googled and somepeople said to restart machine but I am not sure if it did update.
What would you suggest?

If you have auto updates enabled, openelec downloads the update and installs it on reboot, you can usually see a message saying updating. You can check the version number in the system menu.

Cool thanks, does anyone by any chance use firetv remote with openelec? I need to find a guide to configure keys in the future for now keyboard will do the job.

I am hoping you or anyone can help me out. I had a Asus Chromebox that I set up with Openelec and low and behold my dad liked the setup so much that he took it
. I got a used HP Chromebox and installed Openelec but when I booted the system up I noticed the fan noise right away. Even without a video playing I can hear the darn thing. Is there any way to decrease it in the bios or anywhere for that matter? Any help is greatly appreciated.

sadly no, the temperature thresholds and fan speeds are baked into the firmware at compile time. I've optimized them to minimize fan noise as much as possible while still having a reasonable safety factor, but there's nothing I can do to overcome a deficient hardware design. There's always the option to override the defaults using OS tools/applications, but that's less than optimal. Sell the HP and get an Asus IMO.
