hi all.

I'm very confused with the trailers with XBMC/Ember.

OK, so if I import anything from within XBMC itself (that has trailers of course), the trailer plays fine in the window

Using Ember 1.3.0.2

1. mostly default settings (and before I had noticed all the seperate options for downloading trailers etc, so all unticked).........If I then add those files to XBMC and let it import.....it prompts that a trailer is available....but refuses to play them. If I was to then refresh info within XBMC, ignoring the nfo file, the trailer will now stream fine.

2. enabling the options for trailers (but not opting to download them), it fills in trailer info.......mostly http://www.youtube.com links....and a few rtmp://amazonimdb.fcod.llnwd.net (seems it takes the youtube one as a preference).......the rtmp ones stream fine, but the youtube links will not play in XBMC no matter what I try.

I then read a few pages back that one of the youtube options was broken in that version....so went to the experiment 1.3.0.3 version.

1. With trailer options set (no download), again, it mainly picks youtube addresses, followed by rtmp when available.....and again, XBMC will not play these youtube links but rtmp fine.

2. Tried to set it to download the trailers.......now they download fine on the pc, no surprise there.....but as I have to view in File Mode (due to swapping between various external drives for my content), it then means duplicate files showing......also, when XBMC says Press to view the trailer, it still doesnt play, like its looking for the web youtube trailer still, even though its sat on the hdd next to it.

3. Now with default settings, ie all trailer options disabled....it still fills in the RTMP links where available (overwriting the youtube links if they were previously stored), does not add in any youtube links, but they all still play fine. So this method works, kinda.....but seems a bit kind of backwards to the options (and not as ideal with having less streaming options as more are unavailable)

So am I doing something wrong, or is this not quite sorted properly yet? With default settings I'd have originally expected XBMC to not even prompt that a trailer is available, using current Eden beta 1 with Aeon skin.....but makes sense I guess that if the trailer web address is filled on the main import scrape, that it would show up.

So in a nutshell RTMP links are fine, is there any way that these youtube links are usable in XBMC?

Question:

When scrapping media information for my movie files EMM creates a ".info" file and it contains the IMDB address for the movie. Is this the standard structure that XBMCs' Library uses? I was always under the impression that it read the ".nfo" file and it would find the imdb address so that way it would add the correct movie to the database. I have a pretty big movie library of about 600-700 movies and I have all the files in one folder with the names:

"Moneyball (2011).nfo" (contains the IMDB http address)
"Moneyball (2011).tbn" (The movie poster)

This is how I have been setting everything up for years. Anyways I was mainly curious about the ".info" file and if it was necessary or what that was about. Ive tried searching and haven't came up with very conclusive results. Just wondering if anybody could shed some light on this for me Huh. Thank you!

1. trying to decide if i should use MCM or EMber,
EMber has a nice interface and collects more info.
but MCM has as a big plus it scans my movies folder automatic.
beeing that i want my HTPC automated.
is there a option in Ember that it would scan the sources for new files and then does a scan and updates XBMC ?

2. another issue i was running in to.
all my files are stored in movie name (year)
but it seems Ember ignores it because it changed the movie info to a movie from 1955.

3. any update if Ember will fix the blu-ray structure bug by storing the scraped info in the faulty location ?

upD8R Wrote:If I now add new episodes to the show I only update Ember's database. Nothing else. Ember recognizes the new episodes and immediately fetches plot, title and episode picture for this known show. Basically you are done and could start XBMC to add your new media there. Works great. Only manual interaction with Ember: adding new season poster/fanart if you start a new season.

This works completely independent of what episodes in which order you add.

This sounds great

So when you have added episodes to existing TV shows then you start ember and open the TV Shows tab and then hit the Update Library button? Nothing more? The title and plot is automaticly fetched for the new episodes?

Is there a way to know if it fails? Maby Ember says that its episode 20 instead of 15?

I seem to be having an issue with the current version - if I scrape my movies to get all information, everything is downloaded fine, except for extrathumbs. Ember hogs the CPU for quite a while doing nothing, then flags up that is had downloaded the extrathumbs, the folder exists there, but no images in the folder?

try an older version of bin/ffmpeg.exe
this one works for me: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=7PXGOAS0

Brilliant - worked perfectly

Love the program. I have a few ideas for some enhancements:
- allow refreshing of the XBMC thumbnails for TV and movies. Would make making changes to existing scraped media a breeze. Would be awesome for those of us who use centralized thumbnail folders.
- allow downloading of TV logos, clearart, banners and posters from http://fanart.tv/ to support some of the newer XBMC skins.
- a really cool option would be bulk replacing of TV "folder.jpg" from the banner.jpg files to the poster.jpg files (and vice versa).

One other thought:
Ember keeps scraping "AppleDouble" from my unRAID server which uses both AFP and SMB for network protocols. Would be nice to allow for ignoring hidden files & folders.

small issue when scraping tv episodes. if there are guest stars present in the episode on tvdb, then they will get added into the credits tag in the nfo. the "credits" should actually be called writer(s) in the gui.

example, i scrape this episode: http://thetvdb.com/?tab=episode&seriesid=80348&seasonid=468440&id=4200370&lid=7

and then ember saves this to the credits, "Bo Derek (Guest Star) / Angus Macfadyen (Guest Star) / Ian Wolterstorff (Guest Star) / Mekenna Melvin (Guest Star) / Kristin Newman (Writer)".

where credits should just be the writer, as the guest stars and writer have separate fields on tvdb. maybe another tag for guest stars can be added to the nfo instead?

Would Ember be able to interface with XBMC video database like xwmm? Maybe Ember's xbmc controller (which does connect for me) can be updated when this does 608 (PR).

the 'Problem':
I update movie fanart, poster, and imdb ratings in ember and the changes don't propogate to xbmc unless I manually refresh the movie or remove/add the source. It's not really a problem I suppose, just an area where Ember might be able to stand out.

I really hope Eden makes it easier to either reload the files easily or makes handling the database easier.

I doubt. At least I cannot find any changes in Beta 1 No

Hi,

Is there any way to mark movies/episodes that I have seen in Ember? I have notice the right menu > Mark but it does not seems to do anything with the nfo file that XBMC reads?

I know that the watched propertie was removed but I was under the impression that it was added to XBMC again?

When I start and stop a episode on XBMC it will be marked.

It would be great If I could set this in Ember so even if I change the shares I will still see which movies/episodes I have seen.

I just installed the new version of Ember and something doesn't seem right. It is really slow scraping movies (downloading the artwork) and it often doesn't get any or only one or two fanart pictures. I have all three Native scrapers selected to get images. IMPAwards and MoviePosterDB seem very fast but TheMovieDB seems to be the slow one. I can't figure out why there are so few fanart options. For example, The Phantom Menace only had two fanart pics and HP and Goblet of Fire only had one. The Godfather II didn't have any.
