RE: Aeon MQ 8 for Matrix - Toricred - 2021-03-16

Is there a way to get random TV fanart to show up on the main menu? Also is the same possible for Movies?

RE: Aeon MQ 8 for Matrix - latts9923 - 2021-03-16

@wags1
@RB0135
I figured out the problem with the missing text at the top when installing the skin for the first time when it prompts you for a yes/no answer.

@melons2
You're right. I just uploaded the newer version. I had v1.0.29 on my repo, and the newer version is also v1.0.29, but it has an updated addon.xml file. Thanks for letting me know!

@Toricred
Yes, you need to install Artwork Organizer v6.1.1 from my Matrix repo...I just uploaded that version a few minutes ago and tested it. After installing the add-on, go to the SETTINGS submenu and select CUSTOMISE MAIN MENU. Select MOVIES, and In the options to the right enable BACKGROUND IMAGE - USE COLLECTION FANARTS. Then select FANART COLLECTION / CREATE OR UPDATE DATABASE. Artwork Organizer will then pull fanart from you library. You can also enable BACKGROUND IMAGE - USE COLLECTION FANARTS for TV SHOWS, CONCERTS, and MUSIC.

@latts9923 Thank you, thank you, thank you for the work you've done on this mod. I've read through all of the pages in this post and was able to get the theme installed with no issues after a couple of days of trial and error (Thanks to all others who've made suggestions also). Performance is actually more stable now, so thank you again for that. Do you accept donations in any way? I'd like to contribute in some small way to the continued support and development.

RE: Aeon MQ 8 for Matrix - TrailFoX - 2021-03-17

hello, is there now a solution that does not keep the skin helper error when you are in the episode view?

RE: Aeon MQ 8 for Matrix - thesabear - 2021-03-17

Hi everyone,
I have made a clean install of Kodi matrix and am now trying to get this Mod running. I have followed @latts9923 install instructions in the first post and all seems well, until I try to add a source or enter one of the media lists i.e. movies/tv shows/images, then Kodi crashes completely.

It seems like a few people have had this issue before and skin helper service is the culprit. How can I get this working now as all the previous advice is to use SHS 1.1.33, which I am trying yet still not working for me.

All help very much appreciated

I've had this issue (and still have it) every time I enter any media list (doesn't matter if in rightlist, kodiflix, wall3d, etc...). In my case, as posted before in this trhead, it's caused by script embuary helper (no embuary info, just helper). It must be installed, I can't remove it cause skin ask for install every movie or tvshow selected in a list, but deactivating it avoids kodi crashes.

RE: Aeon MQ 8 for Matrix - wags1 - 2021-03-17

@latts9923 Bravo! Thanks for all of your work on this. Upgraded to Matrix on my second Nvidia Shield today. Process went much smoother as I learned a lot from upgrading to Matrix on my first Shield. My main use case is rather simple, listing to streaming music using Pandora (Pandoki addon) using music Layout 7 (with my modified MusicVisualization.xml file for my tastes removing all the rating stuff and channel number logo). So far in my testing it is working perfectly on both Shields.

Here's what worked for me. I usually add all my media sources using a clean install of Kodi with very few addons enabled, and some custom settings in the advancedsettings.xml file. After I get the media imported then I install my choice of theme and all other addons. Hopefully, this method works for you.

RE: Aeon MQ 8 for Matrix - jasn - 2021-03-17

A question please...  If I do a clean install for LibreElec 10, which includes the latest Kodi 19 Matrix, and likewise a clean install for MQ 8 for Matrix, will I be able to rescrape my Music Sources for new Fanart and they will be loaded into the Artist folder directly?  Afterwards I can then delete my ExtraFanart Folders?

Hi there,
Disabling script embuary helper has solved the crashing issues. thanks for the tip

Hi... I see some mention to disable Embuary helper as that is the problem. However, disabling this for me didnt work. I had to disable SHS.

However, as of yesterday, I think I have solved the main culprit/cause and with all services enabled, I havent had a crash when testing the theory.

I have spent countless hours on this (and discussing with Latts and one of the developer of SHS) and the problem is probably due to the fact that the skin (well, all skins) and all skin helper modules have only been upgraded from Python 2 to Python 3 to run on Kodi V19, but have not been upgraded to find the fanart location in the way that Kodi V19 works. That is a big job todo and over time, we should see that work occur. What I mean by "not upgraded to the way Kodi V19 works" is Kodi will import into the database, extrafanart, that is in the main directory of your movie/TV Series, providing a location service to skins/modules where the fanart is. The modules dont have the code in them yet to read the location from the database and have hardcoded, still looking for the extrafanart directory. In one way, this ability still needs to be there as there would still be a lot of/most people with this legacy way of storing their fanart from years back. However, Kodi V19 will not scan extrafanart directories and therefore the modules would probably have to cater for both.

I dont use EXTRAFANART directories and that is the problem for me and I presume others...

The skins and modules that "help the skin" are expecting to see an extrafanart directory and when they don't, the unlucky ones of us, Kodi crashes. 99% of the time I would get a crash, but that 1% I would get a Skin Helper Service error on the screen.

Going through all the Debug logs I generated from countless testing, the crash occurred when SHS made a call for Extrafanart. This call seeems to call another module (maybe Embuary) that rather not handling the error, crashes Kodi.

So, I tested by adding the extra fanart directory (with one fanart file) on all my TV series, and not one crash. When I went to movies, the crash was instant... I hadn't added the extrafanart to the Movies, hopefully proving I found a solution. That will be todays fun and games.... What is also interesting, I have tried this on 3 systems, 2xWindows 10 and 1xUbuntu 20.04 and the same issue occurred on all 3. I even went as far as to reinstall the OS on one of the Windows 10 and Ubuntu PC and still had the issue. With the TVShows now, on all 3, I dont have any crashes but Movies does crash on all 3 (as per above).

A note about the services. If you go down the path of disabling, you can have the services installed (to stop the nagging that you need the dependency installed) but then go to add-ons and just disable the service. Once you disable a service you need to restart Kodi as I found through testing, disabling the add-ons didnt have any effect until Kodi restarted (they were still running in the background and disabling them didn't stop them from running so it seems).

Please be told I am not bagging any of the wonderful work latts and other developers have done. These are my findings from reviewing the module's code, trawling through debug log after debug log and experimenting. I was just about to go back to V18.9 which I never had an issue (although I was using Artwork Beef to sort out my location with the fanart), but persevered in hope to help others.

It would be interesting those that are crashing constantly if you use extrafanart directories (on all of your TV/Movie titles).

RE: Aeon MQ 8 for Matrix - RCBodyslam - 2021-03-18

This skin is awesome. I wish the XBox One would hurry up and update to Matrix so I can use it on there.

Just a few little niggles. In Kodiflix view, it's still showing my animated posters even though I toggled off the option. It can be a bit much for my Android box. Is there a way to fix this on my end?

Also In info view, it's not showing my movie set posters at the bottom of the screen no matter what option I choose. It shows the info and other art though. And I'm pretty sure it displayed them a couple of days ago so am not sure what happened.

And in Poster Zoom, it's not showing the names of the actors along with their pic.

Any assistance helping me resolve these issues would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

RE: Aeon MQ 8 for Matrix - ScratchInside - 2021-03-18

@latts9923

You seem to be busy so I went ahead and added some features that DV flags and some major audiocodec flags will now be triggered by the filename.

1. In addition to '.DV.', now '.DoVi.' and '.DolbyVision.' will trigger DV flags as well.
2. In addition to '.4k.', now '.2160p.' and '.UHD.' will trigger 4k flags as well.
3. Filename that has '.DTS-HD.', '.TrueHD.', '.DD+', '.DDP', and '.DD' will now trigger their corresponding audio flags as well.
4. HDR10+ flag will now also be triggered by '.hdr10+.', and '.hdr10Plus.'

I did this mainly because if one uses the GoogleDrive addon to export .strm files, Kodi will not be able to identify the correct video resolution, video and audio codecs, and aspect ratio from just the .strm files except from its file/path name. The only way for Kodi to display the correct flags this way is to make the flags triggered by filename and path using something like
Quote:String.Contains(ListItem.Filenameandpath,-specify-)
and direct Kodi to the correct image.png.

Here's the link to the new IncludeVariables.xml: https://mega.nz/file/gB4XEYpT#KKmwoKmN5FxY7KaKj2i0-HpuuXfqKjGv_4TprLKpi-s

Just overwrite the IncludeVariables.xml that's in the "xml" folder in the aeon-m8 skin addon folder with this new one.

Also, if you could take a look at this picture I posted before,
Image

There are 3 icons missing when kodi is scanning the .strm file into the library. I don't know where to include the filename trigger in the IncludeVariables.xml for those 3 icons. It's ok to disregard the aspect ratio icon because people normally don't put aspect ratio information in a filename, but I'm hoping you can include the code for filenames to trigger the correct resolution.png as well as the videocodec.png icons. Thank you!

Hiya,
Yup, I use TMM to scrape metadata, images etc for my media. Extrafanarts are stored separately in each individual movie/tv show folder
