Hey Matt,

Just used your script to create another stand alone box for a friend (I'm up to 5!) and once again it went perfectly! I noticed the date on the first post and you have been actively supporting your script for almost a year (two more days).

I'm pretty sure I speak for the community when I say thank you for all of your hard work!

Thats all I have, just a thank you. Smile

I ended up getting some sort of unbootable error so I'm reinstalling the OS now.

After I upload the advancedsettings.xml file, I will post the debug log.

Here is my pastebin link:

http://pastebin.com/nLaHWzcz

Again, after the reinstall, I added the basic advancedsettings.xml file to the .kodi/userdata folder on the chromebox.

I will get all the way to the point where it says Kodi with the logo, says version 14.2 Helix , and for a half a second will switch to the main screen before it blanks out and goes back to Kodi logo screen for a few seconds. The loop is infinite.

are you sure it's not an issue with your shared library / server?

but again, this isn't a hardware/script issue, so you'll likely get better support in the correct (software) subforum

I'm not sure. I don't see what it could be since the other devices are connecting okay, and this specific device was connecting fine until it froze one day and would not properly reboot.

Does the log allude to something that makes you think this?

I will go and post over on the linux support forums to see what they have to say.

Couldn't figure it out so I did a complete uninstall/reinstall of the database program mariadb and we're up and running.

So I just realized after doing a reinstall of Chrome/OpenELEC I forgot to set boot options. Now I can't CTRL+D into Chrome OS.

Is there a way to fix this now since it boots directly into OpenELEC every time or do I need to put it in dev mode?

the boot options are not changed ever unless you manually set them. you're still in dev mode, since you wouldn't be able to boot OE otherwise. if you're unable to get into ChromeOS, you're either not pressing CTRL-D early enough, or your keyboard isn't functional on the dev mode boot screen

Wireless keyboard had issues. Used a USB keyboard and it worked.

Thanks again for the help!

Am currently dual booting chrome os and ubuntu 14.04. Have just tried booting Win 10 Insider Preview on an external usb drive. Works as per instruction by pressing ESC.

Whilst my default boot option is ubuntu, is it possible to have the boot default to be USB drive booting without pressing ESC & if no USB drive present continue to boot ubuntu?

Thanks Matt

I wonder if anybody here can help me. I have googled and googled to death but getting nowhere.

I purchased my chromebox refurbished (As new) and to be fair it appeared new. Installed Openelec and got kodi going everything running perfect no issues.

Few days later i notice the box would suddenly restart and then sometimes just turn itself off. This happened frequently in a short period at one point but then stopped.

I couldnt pin it down what was causing it but noticed that if i left the box running overnight nothing would happen. so it was only when navigating about, installing add ons , loading videos etc etc but no pattern.

I hoped it would be software issue so i reset it back to factory and then re-installed openelec in a dual boot setup. Same again - worked fine for awhile and then started doing it again. Oddly for last 2 days its been running fine with no shutdowns or restarts. I turned the box off today before work - since tunrirng it back on its doing it again like before.

Has anybody heard or run into anything like this before?

Does this sound like a hardware issue ? Any pointers or ideas would really help as i need to decide whether to contact the seller and try and get a refund.

Thanks in advance all!!

i had a similar problem, but it ended up being a faulty hdmi cable that would just keep cutting out.

it will be once I add the 'USB boot default' option (currently available only for the standalone firmware) to the Legacy BIOS. I'll try to do that in the next day or so.

Yesterday i wanted to use my chromebox and discoverd that my ps3 remote didnt work anymore. So i switched to the Kore Remote Android App for a second and then discoverdf that the ps3 bluetooth remote had been disconnected.
Is this something that happens often and what could of caused it?

can't say I've seen this happen. Perhaps a glitch in an OpenELEC update that reset any BT connections?

Yep, seems to be a bug with OE. It happens to me with my Harmony Smart Control, but only started after updating to 5.0.8.
