Thanks so much for the response and the pointer to the ubuntu testing repo. Any chance there is also one for windows? Assuming not, does anyone know of a potential release date for 1.7x? I might just hold off until the new version is released. I have been seeing some other issues that I think might be related and am hoping a new release might fix.

the problem isn't solved yet. Even with the latest cmyth 1.7.10 I am experiencing the very same problem of some recordings not being done, and mythtv telling me 12h later to be still-recording. Yet no record at all exists, not even a fragement.
The cmyth's 'conflict handling' is configured for 'Prefer recording and stop Live TV'.
I'd like to provide more detail, but don't know where to look.
